Hey glad I found your video. Outlaw Pinball shared this, and I was watching the Flip N Out Stream last night where they did a ranking system too! Also great music 😊🤘
@@erikaspinballjourney hey Erika!!! Been watching your content for a while - happy to meet you 🥳 And I appreciate it!!! Attempting to find a way to blend my love of pinball and music production ✨
@@NightlitePinball wow thanks so much 😊🙏 happy to e-meet you too! Music and pinball def go hand in hand 😄 Gotta have that great sound design to feel more immersed in games 🤓
That was awesome man. No video online is more up my alley. Just started really playing pinball little less than a year ago. Even though many would agree w u, the only thing I’ll mention disagreement with is Aerosmith. It’s the only Stern I own. It feels monumentally different at home. Lots of these are in bad condition. I like how you can choose your mode in the beginning and continue them into the next ball. I owned Iron Maiden and I felt like I was playing just the beginning of most modes over and over. That being said IM is one of my favorite games. Now looking into getting a Rush, James Bond or Legends of Valhalla. Cheers!
Great job on the video! That was a lot of fun. Impressive game knowledge too having only been into pinball (or was it tournaments?) since around Godzilla.
Thanks so much!!! I became interested in pinball around the time Godzilla came out, and started going to my local barcade around then. Have been playing ifpa tournaments since August of last year.
About TWD… that left ramp is absurdly valuable lmaooo. I’ve cashed out CDC with a single shot worth 700M+ before and that’s without being overly greedy. Gotten like 2B with crossbow mania too. The points scale to an absurd degree and I love it
By endgame in a huge game you can DEFINITELY score huge points off the left ramp, but if you're having a game that good any mode shot is gonna be worth hundreds of millions haha
Nice list. I will say I think the list would change a lot if you owned some of these. But that is why this is your list, so all good. For example spider-man gets insanely old. So wood choppy. We loved it at first but I think I could be totally fine never playing the game again. JP is the most out of place haha. But I get it. At home with a premium and shaker motor - the music and insanely satisfying shots. It’s just so good. I’m with you on the set trap targets though they can be frustrating.
For sure!!! Obviously JP is a deeper, more *replayable* game than Spiderman, and if I were to own one it would be JP without a doubt. Still though, I can't deny my feelings when I walk into a new pinbar and see a lineup 😅
I searched for the exact title of this video lol. Great timing. I live on an island where there’s no machines or techs but really wanna get into it. If I got a new release machine would I be able to keep up with maintenance having zero experience?
@@rweisel I’ve actually never owned a machine myself, but general consensus is that sterns are certainly the best modern machines for ease of upkeep. Most maintenance for home use is relatively simple, and you can find a forum for basically any fix on Reddit or pinside. Excited for you to dive into the world!
@@NightlitePinballfollow up. I’ve had the jaws pro for a month now and cleaning and maintenance is totally doable if you got the drive. This machine is awesome and they keep adding more modes. Hope to see it in an upper tier on a future list
It's a good ranking and I agree with most of it, but the important part is that you gave useful justification for each game. Kind of disappointed that Simpsons wasn't on the list since it came out the same year as Lord of the Rings which WAS on the list.
Hey thanks for watching! I went down sterns list on their website until I got to tron legacy - it seems like they list based on when they stopped production so some games got skipped timewise. Maybe I’ll do an extended at some point!
Roughly what is your skill level? Whether that be IFPA rating (not ranking) / some of your high scores? I feel like that adds a ton of context into preferences
@@soccerjedi69 I sit around 2500th in IFPA currently, but have only played for about a year. Although this video is only based on fun - I tried to not take how viable it is for tournament play into account. I might do a separate video called (based on competitive play)!
@@NightlitePinball I get that- I mainly asked because skill level largely determines preferences. As players get better, they tend to prefer more challenging layouts since easy games get monotonous and repetitive
@@soccerjedi69 yea I definitely have a much different list than if you asked me a few months ago. Also, just saw you asked rating, my bad! Rating is currently 1608.
@@NightlitePinball 1600+ is solid, definitely in the more advanced tier. I’m a bit surprised you rated Bond so highly. I feel like it’s cool for the theme / modes and I enjoy the side ramp but the gameplay is too boring. I can’t stand the diver shot / trapped pops and feel like it slows gameplay down for no reason. Gomez tends to design games with easy ramps/bailout shots (think LOTR, Bond, BM66, and DP.) I prefer a challenging game like TWD/TMNT/JP. Bond just takes way too long. Not to mention power pack cheesing is absurd. I got like 2B just from that mode and that wasn’t even with 7x playfield. Also, activating 7x PF gives you a 60-second ballsaver lmao
@@NightlitePinball yeah- LOTR totally got me into the hobby. There was one near my house 3 plays for a buck. After a while the DMD stopped working right- putting initials in was a silly exercise but I loved it and then started searching for other locations in BK.
Ngl I think John Wick is beyond saving. I feel like there’s a significant lack of kinetic satisfaction and the game is just about turning your brain off and hitting shots. Trapped pop area is again a Gomez classic and slows the game down. Also way too easy to cheese crate shots and it’s quite grindy to have to hit it 3-4 times to start a mode. Gomez games are mostly about hitting a million shots to accomplish anything and that’s less than ideal. I think Borg (rush, twd, Metallica) does a much better job of having impactful shots
It would be nice if you mention if you based your opinion on playing the Prem or Pro or either. For example I find Jaws pro the worst stern made to date. The Prem is playable though.
Yea, there are definitely games that play better than others depending on the version. I mentioned a few when I thought the other version made the game drastically different, but jaws isn't one of those for me! The premium is more fun overall though.

X-men is gonna need its own rank if it plays as good as it looks 😂
Great ranking I agree with most of your list
Thanks for watching!!!
Quite an enjoyable video!
I think you only played a Munsters pro. The mini playfield on the Prem is quite fun to play, even has a 2 ball multiball.
Yea just a pro. Would the premium save it from low tiers in your opinion?
