I think some of us can speak from experience here, but I feel that most people do notice when their hair get this tangled. Sometimes when you go through a rough time in life, you just don't care. Of course being on the spot admitting it is so embarrassing you come up with other reasons or excuses, you don't want to share your depression with basically strangers. I hope this is not the case for her of course!
Agreed! Its impossible to notice especially when its form a huge bun behind your head. Specially when u laying down. And hope she is not suffering from any depression too... Because these quite a "hint"

Just as a word of advice from someone who regularly combs out locs for my black clients.....for situations like this one, a metal rat-tail comb and some shea butter and coconut oil conditioner or cholesterol cream conditioner is hands down the best tool combination for the job. Take your time.
This is what I was thinking. That hair needed some lubrication to aide the detangling process and reduce breakage. My heart was kinda break with how rough they were in the detangling process. If they had at least used some conditioner it would've taken half the time.
At the end, he shown her 2 bottle of hair oil that he used to brush her hair out. So, i think using a rat tail comb would be better. But he did use oil to lubricate her hair.

Omg yeah. I was dying inside with how rough they were handling her hair. It was already damaged from perming, the pulling from the brush was not helping at. Might've even made the mats tighter.
Definitely a danger with changing from straight hair to extremely curly hair is that we don’t exactly get training on how to care for the hair! Curly hair needs a specific care routine that straight hair doesn’t! The end look is very cute and I’m happy she’s ok! Hugs if anyone wants one!

I’m a curly head and you have to detangle your hair with a brush or comb when you wash your hair. Especially if it’s long. If you don’t detangle properly, it will become a mess.

On first note: She looks so pretty with that bob! That tangled hair was a blessing in disguise. She got a perm to make her hair curly but she didn’t know that curly hair was supposed to be detangled and I can completely understand that. I have Afro-Caribbean hair and even I feel like I shouldn’t detangle sometimes, specially when is wet and nice and bouncy but, that’s the moment when is tangled the most 😅
@@sugoish9461 yes detangling is basically self explanatory, it's untangling the hair so that it can be combed/brushed easily. However detangling hair is basically just combing or brushing it out, but everyone has a different method to detangle so it may not be combing and brushing for everyone.
@@sugoish9461 curly hair naturally becomes tangled no matter what you do because the shape of the hair strands, the curls wrap around each other as you do everyday things such as sleep and such. So detangling is just unravelling the tangled hair so the comb can go through smoothly and there's no knots. Detangling can take hours for curly hair people because of this, this is why a lot of people with curly hair go for protective styles such as braids so they don't have to detangle their hair for hours everyday. Curly hair is definitely hard work
@@fbiagent3998 Ohhh! I know when depression or sickness has hit me badly my long straight hair will mat and tangle very badly into one big, thick, seemingly-impossible-to-fix mass. When I'm feeling better, I'll go sit down and start gently working through the hair with my fingers (gently pulling open hair from the knots it has made without breaking it), as a brush wouldn't work at all, and about an hour after or so I'll usually be done. I'm guessing that would be detangling?
This happened to my hair before when I went through a bad depression. I really hope her story about the dry weather and perm is true, and that she's not trying to hide that she's struggling

As a Mom with curly hair kids. I have been in this predicament, the best way of handling matted hair is wetting it, conditioning the hair, and letting that soak. Dripping wet, with the thickest conditioner you can find. Then combing it with a comb a rat's tail slowly and gently you have to be very patient sometimes it takes hours. So give them a snack, put on a movie and take your time.
My hair is not that curly. It is around 2b and long. I had lung infection for a month and wasn't able brush my hair and take care of it. After a month it just matted. I tried oil, condinioner,hair mask but no avail. So i completely cut that matted part. Now my hair grew and normal again. I can't imagine your patience.

That wouldnt work for them. Conditioners, oils, and water are a curly girls best friend, but people with straight hair have to avoid combing their hair when its wet because it causes breakage.
Oh thank you for saying this. I was so confused why he didn't at least wet it and apply conditioner. Trying to detangle it dry is not good for the hair.
Positive? He literally ridiculed her hair. I know how it feels to have such damaged hai. It is a massive jolt to ur self esteem going out with such hair. Such people are already over conscious and asking them such stupid questions and passing such insensitive comments on their hair destroys their self esteem even more. Why he's being so judgemental? The concept of this channel is a competition over who's hair is worst and how they fix it, a lot of comedy and stuff, she's going willingly and she also said that she watched their videos, so she knows how it is. She had such an optimistic outlook on her hair. I loved it. When she started trying to brush out her knots, I just laughed so hard. Her hair looks gorgeous.
I know she consented to be filmed, otherwise we wouldn't have this video but I felt sad when different people were coming in and out to work on her hair and wondering out loud how it came to that point. She's made of tough stuff. If it were me, I would be so embarrassed and want to hide, even if they were being kind about it.
I think there a culture in Korea where they just say the first thing off the top of their head and it’s pretty normal. I’ve watched so many reality shows where they just say outright rude things and it’s totally normal.
Yeah it’s kind of the Korean culture to speak like that. That’s why I stopped going to Korean hair salons. They always have something bad to say about my hair😅
If you watch black natural hair videos, we often shampoo and or just rinse and condition the hair. While having the conditioner in the hair, we comb through it in sections from the bottom up. Comb from the ends to the root. Then separate the untangled hair from tangled. It's a common detangling method.
I agree. I wondered why they didn't try this, but figured there was more going on than I could tell from the video. In the end though, a short cut suited this client both for style and low maintenance.
i was hoping that he’d soak her hair with water and slather it in conditioner or a detangler, but i’m guessing he might not know to try that. the sounds from the brushes made me so anxious 🤣
The hairstylists who gave her a hippie perm should've also taught her how to maintain it and not let it get matted. This video should've been a great insight to Korean hairstylists to research more and learn different how to take care of different textures and curl patterns but also how to take out matts without causing breakage.
Being mixed black and Korean in Korea, every time I went into the salon this is literally how they would see me. Even though my hair wasn’t tangled at all lmao it was just because I had a very different texture and thick curly hair, there was always 3 ppl on me and they’d tell me my hair was damaged when it wasn’t at all. But had they had the right tools (like a rat tail comb, etc) they could’ve gotten the entire knot out without having to cut much. Probably just the ends.
yea they rly need to step up their hair knowledge in general, not just with 3/4 hair types but in general because the way they treated this girl too was very weird considering they could've easily treated her hair without making her feel bad. it wasn't that damaged at all yet they joked and made it a huge deal so i can't imagine how it was for you. the lack of knowledge and understanding is just horrible sometimes.
@@dulcedepeche it's Korea, do they even get taught about curly/textured hair to begin with? It's a different culture. In Latin America I can get a fantastic cut from most stylists, here in North America I have to do research and ask questions just to make sure they know how to do curly hair. We should be open to showing people how to care for our hair, it literally hurts noone.
Tips if you have hair like this: 1. Try conditioner and oils when combing to help it slip - no water cause that will just make your hair stretch 2. Depending on what you doing - use different tools. Sometimes change between brushes and combs help in different sections. 3. Try a pull the hair i to sections - Pull from the outmost side as much as possible, brush a bit, then see if you can get another section out 4. sometimes your fingers are the best separators - maybe feel around the knots and try to pull with your finger to see if you can’t loosen it a bit 5. Patience is key so don’t be harsh tugging at the hair and take breaks
I have wavy, frizzy hair that gets tangled easily and those are great tips. It hurts me to watch them using such brushes on a textured hair. At least my hair hates those kind of brushes, it just makes it even more frizzy and tangled. Wide comb/hands + oil is the way.
Also a chopstick/rat tailed comb/ wide tooth comb would have been a great tool to use to de-tangle with oil or a really good slip conditioner and WET ... the hair should have been WET
@@studiohq depends on your hair type. Detangling hair that is super tangled while wet can cause it be become more tangled and is more prone to snapping when pulled.
I think if the hair was a little less tangled then conditioner would help gor sure but since it's clumped together, it would absorb the conditioner, harden and make it harder to detangle

First, you needed to totally saturate her hair with water then put conditioner on it and then comb out. Yes, the process would have taken some time but it also would have saved a good portion of her hair. This is what you do with curly/kinky hair. Combing it dry only makes the hair worse and breakers off the hair as well.
No, her hair is matted like a dogs fur. Water would only make the mat worse, and cause even more breakage (wet hair is more fragile than dry hair). When your hair is extremely matted like this, the best way is to comb through dry hair. Detangling products, an oil, or a deep conditioner may help, but you don't want to comb through wet hair.
that method would work if her hair was tangled but you can tell it was matted. the best way to go about it here is with oil, like they said. it’s kind of similar to how when you wanna take out dreads without cutting you use oil
We deal with this kind of matting quite often. If the hair is virgin and not this matted, some oil and leave in conditioner can help. But when it's permed and cuticle completly hooked opposite directions, wetting only opens it and hook even tighter. Only way is to cut the ball in half and comb out what ever still attached with heavy silicone. We would see a few of these after summer holidays when the extensions havnt been brushed well or treated for 6 weeks, while clients gone swimming in the sea or pool everyday

I think some of us can speak from experience here, but I feel that most people do notice when their hair get this tangled. Sometimes when you go through a rough time in life, you just don't care. Of course being on the spot admitting it is so embarrassing you come up with other reasons or excuses, you don't want to share your depression with basically strangers. I hope this is not the case for her of course!

빗질을 매일 매일 하루에 몇번씩 하고 엉키지 않게 해야 하는데 저건 아에 관리를 하지 않은거지 .. 기우샘 진짜 대단 하십니다 두피쪽 잡고 헤어 에센스 듬북 바르거 벅벅 소리가 날지언정 빗는 방법 외엔 없음. 머리카락 빠지고 나는 정량의 머리 카락들이 저케 엉켜 있어서 더 그런것도 있음. 일단 엉킨 부위 만 꽉 잡고 벅벅 빗어야함 그냥 빗으면 ..진짜 개아픔 .. 저런 비슷한 경우 나도 있어음. 장염 걸리고 그와중에 코로나 까지 겹치고 6일을 암것도 못하고 누워 있어서 머리 다 엉켜서 ㅋㅋ 진짜 암튼 난 저렇게 뭉친거ㅜ풀음 ㅋㅋ 진짜. 한숨 쉬면서 ㅋㅋ 근데. 긴머리보다 짧은 머리 진짜 너무 잘어울림

Just as a word of advice from someone who regularly combs out locs for my black clients.....for situations like this one, a metal rat-tail comb and some shea butter and coconut oil conditioner or cholesterol cream conditioner is hands down the best tool combination for the job. Take your time.
This is what I was thinking. That hair needed some lubrication to aide the detangling process and reduce breakage. My heart was kinda break with how rough they were in the detangling process. If they had at least used some conditioner it would've taken half the time.
At the end, he shown her 2 bottle of hair oil that he used to brush her hair out. So, i think using a rat tail comb would be better. But he did use oil to lubricate her hair.

Omg yeah. I was dying inside with how rough they were handling her hair. It was already damaged from perming, the pulling from the brush was not helping at. Might've even made the mats tighter.

Definitely a danger with changing from straight hair to extremely curly hair is that we don’t exactly get training on how to care for the hair! Curly hair needs a specific care routine that straight hair doesn’t! The end look is very cute and I’m happy she’s ok! Hugs if anyone wants one!

I’m a curly head and you have to detangle your hair with a brush or comb when you wash your hair. Especially if it’s long. If you don’t detangle properly, it will become a mess.

On first note: She looks so pretty with that bob! That tangled hair was a blessing in disguise. She got a perm to make her hair curly but she didn’t know that curly hair was supposed to be detangled and I can completely understand that. I have Afro-Caribbean hair and even I feel like I shouldn’t detangle sometimes, specially when is wet and nice and bouncy but, that’s the moment when is tangled the most 😅

@@sugoish9461 yes detangling is basically self explanatory, it's untangling the hair so that it can be combed/brushed easily. However detangling hair is basically just combing or brushing it out, but everyone has a different method to detangle so it may not be combing and brushing for everyone.
@@sugoish9461 curly hair naturally becomes tangled no matter what you do because the shape of the hair strands, the curls wrap around each other as you do everyday things such as sleep and such. So detangling is just unravelling the tangled hair so the comb can go through smoothly and there's no knots. Detangling can take hours for curly hair people because of this, this is why a lot of people with curly hair go for protective styles such as braids so they don't have to detangle their hair for hours everyday. Curly hair is definitely hard work
@@fbiagent3998 Ohhh! I know when depression or sickness has hit me badly my long straight hair will mat and tangle very badly into one big, thick, seemingly-impossible-to-fix mass. When I'm feeling better, I'll go sit down and start gently working through the hair with my fingers (gently pulling open hair from the knots it has made without breaking it), as a brush wouldn't work at all, and about an hour after or so I'll usually be done. I'm guessing that would be detangling?
I feel really naive now lol, I always assumed curly hair didn't tangle/tangled much much less than straight hair!

As a Mom with curly hair kids. I have been in this predicament, the best way of handling matted hair is wetting it, conditioning the hair, and letting that soak. Dripping wet, with the thickest conditioner you can find. Then combing it with a comb a rat's tail slowly and gently you have to be very patient sometimes it takes hours. So give them a snack, put on a movie and take your time.
My hair is not that curly. It is around 2b and long. I had lung infection for a month and wasn't able brush my hair and take care of it. After a month it just matted. I tried oil, condinioner,hair mask but no avail. So i completely cut that matted part. Now my hair grew and normal again. I can't imagine your patience.

That wouldnt work for them. Conditioners, oils, and water are a curly girls best friend, but people with straight hair have to avoid combing their hair when its wet because it causes breakage.

노숙자 머리가 저렇잖아요. 일상생활 하는 사람은 씻고 머리감고 하는데 뒷머리가 어떻게 저리될수 있지? 머리뒤통수가 가렵기도하고 벼개 배고 누우면 배기고 불편 했을떤데. 한달동안 안씻고 머리안감고 안빗으면 저리됩니다. 삶에자포자기 했을태의 경험으로 알게됨 저럴땐 동네 목욕탕가서 샴푸를 한5번은 해야되고 샴푸물 미끄러움으로 손가락을넣어서 살살내리면 조금씩 풀리고 나중에 린스 하면 미끄러워 스르륵풀림 저렇게 생짜배기로 풀려니 힘들지 하루종일해도 안풀림. 목욕탕가서 탕에 들어가서 충분히 수증기도 쏘이고 하다보면 풀림

If you watch black natural hair videos, we often shampoo and or just rinse and condition the hair. While having the conditioner in the hair, we comb through it in sections from the bottom up. Comb from the ends to the root. Then separate the untangled hair from tangled. It's a common detangling method.
Yes! And also if there's extreme build up from products you can do an apple cider vinegar rinse and then start the detangling process from there.

The hairstylists who gave her a hippie perm should've also taught her how to maintain it and not let it get matted.
This video should've been a great insight to Korean hairstylists to research more and learn different how to take care of different textures and curl patterns but also how to take out matts without causing breakage.

Being mixed black and Korean in Korea, every time I went into the salon this is literally how they would see me. Even though my hair wasn’t tangled at all lmao it was just because I had a very different texture and thick curly hair, there was always 3 ppl on me and they’d tell me my hair was damaged when it wasn’t at all.
But had they had the right tools (like a rat tail comb, etc) they could’ve gotten the entire knot out without having to cut much. Probably just the ends.
yea they rly need to step up their hair knowledge in general, not just with 3/4 hair types but in general because the way they treated this girl too was very weird considering they could've easily treated her hair without making her feel bad. it wasn't that damaged at all yet they joked and made it a huge deal so i can't imagine how it was for you. the lack of knowledge and understanding is just horrible sometimes.

@@dulcedepeche it's Korea, do they even get taught about curly/textured hair to begin with? It's a different culture. In Latin America I can get a fantastic cut from most stylists, here in North America I have to do research and ask questions just to make sure they know how to do curly hair. We should be open to showing people how to care for our hair, it literally hurts noone.
Tips if you have hair like this:
1. Try conditioner and oils when combing to help it slip - no water cause that will just make your hair stretch
2. Depending on what you doing - use different tools. Sometimes change between brushes and combs help in different sections.
3. Try a pull the hair i to sections
- Pull from the outmost side as much as possible, brush a bit, then see if you can get another section out
4. sometimes your fingers are the best separators - maybe feel around the knots and try to pull with your finger to see if you can’t loosen it a bit
5. Patience is key so don’t be harsh tugging at the hair and take breaks
I have this type of hair and these tips are the way to go
I have wavy, frizzy hair that gets tangled easily and those are great tips. It hurts me to watch them using such brushes on a textured hair. At least my hair hates those kind of brushes, it just makes it even more frizzy and tangled. Wide comb/hands + oil is the way.
Also a chopstick/rat tailed comb/ wide tooth comb would have been a great tool to use to de-tangle with oil or a really good slip conditioner and WET ... the hair should have been WET
@@studiohq depends on your hair type. Detangling hair that is super tangled while wet can cause it be become more tangled and is more prone to snapping when pulled.
I think if the hair was a little less tangled then conditioner would help gor sure but since it's clumped together, it would absorb the conditioner, harden and make it harder to detangle

세아이 애기때 머리엉켜졌던 생각이.. 펌염색 안한 어깨넘는 머리 머리카락인데 밤에 잠도 못자고 남편은 일이 바뻐 집에 오질 않고 세아이들 혼자 먹이고 뒷처리하며 키우느라 머리를 잘 못빗으니 뒷머리안쪽부터 엉킴..그리고 잘 못챙겨먹고 모유수유하느라 삐쩍골아서 머리카락 영양가없어 그런지 더 잘엉키더라는. 단발 하고도 엉키더라구요. 지금은 애들 다크고 해서 안엉키구요.
하루에 3번이라도 빗으면 저렇게는 절대 안됨.
40대만 되도 몸 힘들기 시작. 힘들면 모든게 귀찮아지는데. 젊을 때라도 그에너지로 열심히 관리하시길~~!

히피펌을 엄청 좋아해서 매년 히피펌-단발을 반복하던 이때! 여느때와 다르게 머리가 안 빗겨지더라구요..? 저 진짜 머리도 잘 감고 린스도 잘 하고 그랬는데, 어느 순간부터 머리가 땅땅해져서 안 빗겨지더랍니다.. 등잔 밑이 어둡다고, 뒷머리라서 어느정도 심각한지 몰랐는데, 만난 친구들이 다 심각하다고 말해줘서 그때서야 알게 됐습니더..
저 날 모든 분들이 제 머리 때문에 약 7시간 정도를 고생하셨는데요, 다시 생각해도 정말 죄송하고 또 죄송합니다😭

First, you needed to totally saturate her hair with water then put conditioner on it and then comb out. Yes, the process would have taken some time but it also would have saved a good portion of her hair. This is what you do with curly/kinky hair. Combing it dry only makes the hair worse and breakers off the hair as well.
They've tried your method before but came out to the conclusion that oil treatment was the most effective one. Maybe missed out in the subtitles.
No, her hair is matted like a dogs fur. Water would only make the mat worse, and cause even more breakage (wet hair is more fragile than dry hair). When your hair is extremely matted like this, the best way is to comb through dry hair. Detangling products, an oil, or a deep conditioner may help, but you don't want to comb through wet hair.
that method would work if her hair was tangled but you can tell it was matted. the best way to go about it here is with oil, like they said. it’s kind of similar to how when you wanna take out dreads without cutting you use oil
Wrong, coming wet increases breakage all curly hair ppl know this
We deal with this kind of matting quite often. If the hair is virgin and not this matted, some oil and leave in conditioner can help. But when it's permed and cuticle completly hooked opposite directions, wetting only opens it and hook even tighter. Only way is to cut the ball in half and comb out what ever still attached with heavy silicone. We would see a few of these after summer holidays when the extensions havnt been brushed well or treated for 6 weeks, while clients gone swimming in the sea or pool everyday
