Great video Todd! I love how you’re able to validate your choices for products based on their performance that’s highlighted by the Rhopoint meter. Sonax Perfect Finish with yellow Rupes pads has been a fantastic combo with a wide variety of different paints and long throw polishers that I’ve been working with, including the Rupes MK III. The system is an expensive investment, but one that pays itself off on the long run. Keep up the great work, I always enjoy your videos!
Thank you!
THIS is what 97% of us really need. We need a single-step kit of compound, pads, towels, and buffer/polisher to make our personal vehicles look great or possibly get our older car ready to sell. I don't have several days available to wash, clay bar, do a multi-step paint correction, then apply wax or ceramic coating to my four-year-old car. I need something I can do in a Saturday to make my buddies envious ... that's it. Thanks, Todd.
Nailed it.
very good video! informatve,thorough!
Hi Todd,
Thanks for putting another great video with a lot of info
Are you going to do follow up with 2 step best combo .
On the side note, still have to try Sonax ...
This may help: ruclips.net/video/VqyQAYrkMhU/видео.html
Hi Todd, again a great video. What do you think about a 3 step polishing? Is it sometimes necessary or you can go with a sonax cutmax till you are satisfied and then with a perfect finish as a finish? I hear a lot from the friends who has are "detailers" about this 3 and more step polishing.
Thank you. 3-step polishing is completely unnecessary in most cases! Your correction and a good finish comes in your compounding stage. Then, the finish polishing stage is strictly for extracting clarity and removing any light haze left behind in the compounding stage. We have been using and teaching a 2-step process for many years now!
I'm very tempted to buy a kit and start paint correcting. I have a dilemma though. I can only work outdoors and was told it's not ideal.
Would this work or am I dreaming?
Day 1 (outdoors)- wash and prep front of car,1-step polish front of car
Day 2 (outdoors)- wash and prep doors & roof of car, 1-step polish doors & roof of car
Day 3 (outdoors)- wash and prep rear of car, 1 step polish rear of car
Day 4 (outdoors)- Full IPA wipe down of vehicle, apply 2 coats of ceramic coating
If you have shade, then you're ok (with the exception of the coating part). Without it, I wouldn't even attempt it...
@@Esotericdetail Well, I applied the coating outdoors mainly in the shade but some sun. Also, there was quite a bit of pollen blowing. I had to panel wipe each section before applying the ceramic coating. It worked though! So it can be done!
I’m looking to get my first 5 inch machine , do the 15 and 21 have the same size pad and backing plate ? I am confused because some of Rupes pads are a inch bigger on the face of it vs the backing plate
The 15 comes with a 5", and the 21 comes with a 6". You can purchase a separate 5" backing plate though to put on the 21. Unless you're working on boats, or very large, flat surfaces, the 5" pad is the way to go.
@@Esotericdetail thanks, when you guys are using the 15 with the 5 inch plate are the Rupes foam pads actually 6 inch though? Confused on that part, I need to get your kit with new pads I have been using 6 inch and like you said only for flat surfaces plus the 6 inch Rupes foam pads are actually 7?
@@jjjjjjjjjjjhjjjjjhjj With the LHR15, the pad is listed as the 130/150mm to go with the 5" backing plate. It's 130mm at the base where it attaches to the backing plate, and flares out to 150mm on the surface.
Thanks Todd.... another great video as I am a new subscriber to your channel and newsletter. I’ll be reaching out to you as well to come visit you and your facility and take some classes in 2020. Real quick, how would you say SONAX compares to the 3D line of products. We use 3D day in and day out in my company. I’ve never used SONAX before but have heard great things about it. And now coming from you, looks like I need to give it a shot. Thanks Reggie with Rcot Enterprise Raleigh NC.
Thank you, and it would be great to have you as our guest in the near future. Once you're here, you'll quickly learn why we use and recommend the Sonax Perfect Finish for both a one-step and a finishing polish!
Hi, i got a lot of knowledge in your videos and inspired me to do my own detailing business 3years ago. Recently i encounter Restor FX, they said that cut & polish & ceramic coats are reducing the material in cars and will result to issues in the future. Unlike restor FX they apply material like clear coat that add protection. Have you heard of this? Thanks
This sounds like a theory being pushed by somebody who either (a) doesn't know much about proper detailing, or (b) are trying to use scare tactics to push their brand of products.
Can i run this polisher with a yamaha 2000 generator?
how many watts does your generator output??
Hey Todd. How do you think Perfect Finish with the Rupes pads along with a Griots Garage 6" DA. It's definitely not as high end. Do you think I'll be able to get my same result or should I use something different? Most of the detailing I do is for newer cars for prep on ceramic coatings.
It should work just fine!
Can a car be clear coated after this process?
Do you mean ceramic / glass / quartz coating? If so, then yes...that would be the next logical step if you weren't using a wax or sealant.
What’s best for me if ima be opening a shop for detailing? Offering one and two step corrections?
And possibly wet sanding.
Please if you give some info, before I purchase
And wax for the finish!
Please if you can recommend the items to order I would appreciate it.
I want the rupes mark 3 forsure the way you recommend but I’d like a package for a premium wax also! So I can offer the premium wax prices
Can you spray a clear coat over a finished paint job if you took too much off??? Fresh or weathered....
It's not that simple...
Can a single stage paint be using a ceramic coating? I heard that is questionable.
Not a problem at all...been coating single stage cars for many years now without a single issue.
@@Esotericdetail thank you again...
I seen the value kit with the bag and apron and separate pads and more stuff which would be better for me? Do you offer the accessories? Or it just comes in box
We do not offer the other items, as we simply don't get the demand for it.
Does this process remove a coating?
In most cases, yes.
Hey Todd what do you think about using the uro-fiber pad with sonax perfect finish for a single step correction?
On most paints, it most likely won't finish down fine enough with a MF pad.
@@Esotericdetail I see. How about Lake Country Force white polishing pad + Sonax perfect finish followed by a ceramic coating?
@@YoGary1 You'd have to try to see what kind of performance you can get out of it. For us, the yellow Rupes pad is king!
@@Esotericdetail Thanks for the response I gotta give yellow Rupes pad a try!
Todd my da only goes from speed 4 to 5, is 4 ok i think 5 is over kill
That would probably be fine!
Mk3 15mm or 8mm forced rotation for big correction ?
For us, it's 15 or 21mm DA all the way!!!
@@Esotericdetail thanks
...mmm and its only $560 dollars !
