wow this video is great, I have learnt so much from it, thanks Debbie for taking the time to make this tutorial. Something as simple as now knowing to hold down the shift key when making a shape to keep the proportions right. best wishes from England, and I will be watching any more tutorial you do x Caryl x
Great video tutorial. Thank you so much Debbie. I too am a visual person and this helps. I'm new to Silhouette and the Designer SW, so this really helps.
Thank you for the fantastic tutorial! Just wanted to point you to the "center vertical" as well as "center horizontal" -- then you can just size, center everything, and resize if needed, center everything, etc. Thanks again!
Thank you Scrapia27 for leaving a comment. You are very welcome. It's nice to be able to spread the word of what the wonderful Silhouette cutting machines can do.
Hi Debbie, I made some gears using the concepts in your doily video. They are on the MC silies facebook group where we all love your work. They are made from metal clay and I will post some fired pictures in a day or 2. Thanks you are the best XX love the design video also. Warmest Regards, Cindy
Hi CMD, yes, you can use cereal box weight chipboard or a cereal box and cut it with the Silhouette Cameo. I set my blade at 10, speed of 1 and thickness at 33. I also make sure to tick the box where it says double cut.
Hello Debbie, Amazing how you make a doily! Thanks for showing. I see that it was in 2012, but for me it is new and inspiring and will certainly try to make my own doily. 👍😆Maud.
Hi Caryl, thank you so much for your very sweet comment.I'm always happy to learn the videos are helpful. Have a blessing filled day, hugs, Debbie Thanks to all of you for the time you've taken to leave a comment. It's very sweet and makes my day. Big hugs, Debbie
Thank you jmspegal, I'll be making more vidoes, so stay tuned. :-)Congrats, on the purchase of your new Cameo. You made a wise crafting decision to buy the Cameo. The Cameo is my third ( all of them still work great!) Silhouette cutting machine and they are my favorite crafting companions. Have oodles of fun with your new Cameo.
Hi Amy, thank you for your sweet comment. I use so many tools in so many ways by the time I get to making a video I forget to add some things or do them differently. I usually just use the "Center" once I have the shape centered to the page. Have a blessing filled day, hugs, Debbie
Thanks, Debbie, this inspires me to give it a try! Thanks for taking the time to make such an informative video, I really appreciate it! Hugs! ~ Shellypop
Thank you for the nice video. When scaling rings within rings like you do at 14:10, you might want to grab a corner while holding down the left "alt" key - that will do the scaling from the center, so you won't have to realign everything. And check out the Replicate window (Rotate 2/3/5 copies) - this is very useful for doily designs.
Thank you lennyvw. You are forever sweet. I just love to design and help others to learn more about designing so they can have as much fun as I do. More big hugs, Debbie
Ok, I'm having issues, and I'm not sure why, or if you can even help. I'm at 12:21 in the video, where I weld the smaller moon shapes with the ring. Am I welding with the inside or outside ring? When I try it with both, my moon shapes disappear?
You are saying control and click, you get another object. CTRL what and click. I do not get a duplicate when I hold control and click on the object??? Thanks
I have tried this and although I wrote down the instructions and tried to follow them I keep coming unstuck when I do the offset window after creating the circle then the internal inset I am unable to 'group them as both the group and ungroup is greyed out how do I get that I am using the silhouette studio not the designer edition, it would be great if this tutorial was written down somewhere so it could be printed out. HELP
Help! I made my doily and was very happy with the result....until I filled it with colour! The wrong part of the doily was coloured. I spent hours on this and really hope I don't have to take it all apart to start over.
Hi Debbie, I have tried designing side by side with your tutorial, but when I do the second row and select all the grouped patterns and also select the cirle and weld it, the pattern disappears completely, or I am left with just the peaks of the pattern cut into the circle. I can't fathom what I am doing wrong. Can you help please.
Hi Jan, if you make a shape like a donut shape for example and you don't select both pieces, right click and make it a compound path it wil disappear with the compound shape. If you can please email me by going to my blog and clicking on the "Email Me" link on the right hand side I can explain more. My blog address is www.paperpulse.blogspot.com
Hi Debbie, I am wondering, if I find a picture of a doily in black against a white background, could I simply import that image into the silhouette software and have the cameo cut it out for me, with the pieces in the middle cut out and all? thanks!
Hi Rossana, if you find a doily you like with a white background and the doily is black this image will be easy to auto trace and cut. Be careful to make sure the doily image you want to cut isn't too intricate. Intricate images don't always auto trace well and if they are too intricate; they may not cut well. Best wishes, Debbie
Hello, Did you make sure select both rings and make the a compound path before welding the moon shapes with the ring? You just want the grouped moon shapes to be placed just enough inside the ring to give you a pretty weld. Making the two rings a compound path is very important in the welding process. If you would like to email me, my email link is located on my blog: paperpulse.blogspot.com on the right side. I hope this helps. xxx- Debbie
Thanks Shelly. I can hardly wait to see what you design. You have such design talent.
