Couple of questions - can you share competitor insights also? Audible and Spotify have also tried in this space with big production houses, famous celebrities and trying popular webseries like Permanent Roommates etc. Do you have any performance metrics on how did they fare? Both behemoth kept audio series completely free and promoted heavily thru multiple channels. Also, I don't know/think they followed Pocket FM's route of translating/localising content. I could be wrong.
- What's with change of thumbnails? Most of the times I observe that You start with one thumbnail and change it within few hours after launching video? Is it based on performance or something else?
Long story short, targeted high paying Indians in US and middle East and ofcourse some foreigners & keeping the prices high because ofcourse they can and will pay for this.
I find this analysis over appreciated for a company who couldn't crack the Indian market and pivoted just by shifting to another country, mind you raising almost 200 million dollars.
Now I'm not saying they're a bad business or anything, they're fantastic but I won't view them as a excellent startup. (IMO)

13:55 Microtransactions might be the gamechanger in the US, but personally for me they are frustrating, i think they should have a subscription model besides the microtransaction model, coz sometimes when i listen to audiobook and i like it i feel urge to complete in one go which is not possible possible in this microtransactional model coz price gets increasing exponentially, another suggestion is that they should include smaller audiobook(200 ep.) - they should divide them into two categories like commute(long book) and binge(short).

I am a Chinese expat in the United States. My cousin in Shanghai introduced me to Himalaya app which is similar to app depicted here. I use it all the time now in order to maintain my language skills. Indian expat community overseas is even larger, stable young population, and very powerful. So it does not surprise me that an app of this nature has been successful. Hopefully also has longterm success because India never told their people not to have kids.

I have been a long term follower of Aevy TV and have always found it exceptional at delivering cases studies. Given your awareness about how little things can have a huge impact. This representation of the rural Indian population didn't feel right. I'm sure that wasn't the intention, but I think this bit could've been done a little more tastefully. I'm born and raised in Mumbai, currently in Germany, I feel it's our duty, given our privilege, to not only give all classes respect but also be mindful to bring them up to our level of privilege and beyond.
Please keep making such content!

Well, I am still sceptical about Audio content. Once I downloaded Kuku and as you said it's full of erotic content. So it feels very gimmicky. It's very very rare to find productive audio content. Also, I personally don't recommend audio books or even ebooks. Reading an actual book just feels different.

But still video content is better than audio content as human physiology, humans remember and recognise more stuff that they watched visually, visuals impact more on humans than audio and human enjoy more by watching any content than just listening, it's good that audio industry is growing, but still large numbers of consumers prefer video content, it is just a thought.
