One major problem is that apple has often allowed apps which scam their users to exist on iOS and even allowed them to run ad-campaigns. Their walled garden always have had weeds and poison ivys. And apple sucks in case of side loading even for developers, you can only keep your own developed apps for 30 days, and 90 days in case you pay them $100 per year for testflight.
9:00 They will probably realise it with the phones region which you can set at will. If eu wants sideloading, then let them develop their OS. Stores should be free to accept or refuse suspicious software, Imagine sideloading a Banking app?
Disagree that Apple needs to cater to the side loading community. Been with Apple since the first iPad; I, nor anyone else that I know, was concerned with side loading either. Also I find it hilarious that Epic tried to say it was a monopoly since there are multiple app stores. Don’t like Apple and restrictions? Go Android lol. Now I’m not sticking up for Apple or Epic or ANY company that massive. However, the things ppl are getting mad about with side loading… that’s so dumb. What you NEED TO BE MAD ABOUT, is that u may have a phone that still works but they no longer have to support those phone. He touched on the right to repair and such. THAT’S what ppl should be mad about. They are literally siphoning your money. All these tech companies are. Can you imagine your great grandmother buying Singer sewing machine (both the price of mobile phones now)… and being told that in 5-8 yrs, it would be useless, even though it was high quality and still worked just fine?
Side loading isn’t even what it used to be on Android anymore as even Google is making it more difficult to side load with each update with the only appeal for me is pirate apps like Showbox which has long since disappeared and even that’s not an issue on iOS at least for me as I downloaded an app called drama flix although it’s full of ads, it’s at least optimised for iOS unlike its Android counterparts.
we are not going to see google/amazon app store apps on iOS, because these are android apps, and they're built to run on android. Android is much different from iOS, Android runs on Linux and iOS on Darwin kernel, Android has a java virtual machine for some apps and the containers work completely differently. The apps on iPhones are signed with private key on apple's servers unfortunately. I love iPhone hardware, it is the best hardware out there, but the operating system's lockdown is aweful. I hate server reliability, I hate stuff that's signed to expire after a while, and I hate stuff that's serialised and not replaceable. I just hope one day we'll get a way to free iOS. Jailbreak doesn't give enough freedom, still stuck with some signature and cryptography stuff. I want proper sideloading, not only on the new iPhones but also old, so we can downgrade apps and experience the old nostalic good times.
Ironically I am not bothered to use the latest Apple OS devices, because I bought a lot already. What Apple should factor in is.... I would buy newer devices with the latest OS if they allow me to buy fave apps like "Saints and Sinners Bowling" from other providers, and so it would boost their newer iphone and iPad and Ipod sales, making them more money. But..... I really think it's bad they will not make phones with easy change batteries, tha is criminal, maybe literally. They are removing the right of poorer people to "make do and mend" with an older device. That is immoral.
Apple isn't going to announce anything untill they are at the deadline, or they have a way to spin it like it was their idea in the first place. Like with the iphone 15's USB C port, we all know it was a forced move, but they certainly talked it up like it was their plan in the first place.
12 minutes of empty content.. Epic lawsuit, Android sideloading, EU forcing Apple to think more about customers. Heard all of them. Nothing new information about the issue -> clickbait.
9:57 - that's not true at all, free and open source software usually allows for the most freeing experience while usually being the most secure and private alternatives, look at Linux. There's no balance needed. People don't need Apple's "protection", and also, Apple themselves violate people's privacy. The best thing about all of this is that soon the iPhone might have a store like F-Droid where we'll have all sorts of FOSS software available. Maybe we'll even have a good terminal emulator and 3rd-party package managers for iOS, that would be so cool.
What you're saying doesn't go against what he said. There's a balance between ease of use and security and he even explained that Google's approach with Android's sideloading process is indeed a great balance. He doesn't mention Linux because honestly, it's not the point of the video.
Honestly I'm not too upset by the idea of scary warning messages as outlined here, people who know what they're doing won't care and just hit OK and people who don't know what they're doing will either do the research or just stop which is the best outcome really

What if they only allow side loading on the newest iPhones?
Fr💀
I'm 7 months late in watching this video, but I just like to say that I really love your last few statements about corporations just wanting more and more money and that they're not their consumers' friends.
Apple could greatly improve security on the iPhone by removing all Apps.
Dude are you "Harold" from the show "Suits"? 😊
It’s iOS 17 beta 3 and still no trace of sideloading
It’s too early
im a computer head but im a android fan i don't want the EU to do this cause there will be no competition for any smart platform like your tv for a example
nice video! may I ask what the song name of the background music is at around 5 min?
It seems like people don't actually own their devices as you can only do what Apple allows you to do.
EU Privacy/Security requirements are probably even more stringent than the US and even then they realize the importance of allowing people a choice and the USB-C requirement was wise move.
This is bigger for iPads than it is for iPhones.
i like how they used mcAfee as "malware" there
Fr💀
hopefully we can now download infinity blade trilogy again
there already is sideloading with altstore and sideloady without a jailbreak
Unfortunately because of BREXIT an open App Store won’t come to the UK. Another Brexit benefit 😅 (sarcasm)
Is this definitive? Another reason Farage is due a punch in the face.
Man fuck Brexit, and I aint even British
“The very first iPhone didn’t have an App Store” Wdym it’s literally in the 4th row!
I can finally install tidal without changing the region
I hope they will allow sideloading globally because I have an iPad and I want to install happymod or Nintendo emulators without wasting an entire day just for it to disappear in a week
Lol I can do all of this on my Android
@@Steve21_harris yeah I know I have an Android phone and I do this stuff but I also want it on my ipad and it's pretty complicated.
@@ARBUZIK.dudkin oh ok
Hope it will be global
countryd inside iOS will do all the region limitation work
well said 👏👏
Imagine a 3rd party launcher on an iphone!
The question is how many of the Apple users really want the side loading feature?
i think not a lot, as people who really want it would either jailbreak or pick an android phone instead, and as far as i know some apple users actually think its a bad idea (SomeOrdinaryGamers channel has a video about it)
@@Spiderfffun I agree. If actual statistics of the users who wanted all that were present you would realize its a minority. On the other end as much as people don't like it, its simply the core values on which the company was built. As the legal & international pressure continues it would reach a point where we can't differentiate Apple from other makers & competition would be dead
@@SpiderfffunI think it's a bad idea because of all the fragmentation that will arise from the different app stores. If I want an app, I am forced to downlaod its app store and then possibly give identifying information to 3rd parties I don't fully trust will keep my information secure in the event of a breach
@@heavy0119 thats not how breaches work, you get that no database about data collected from the user is going to be hosted by apple, right?
One major problem is that apple has often allowed apps which scam their users to exist on iOS and even allowed them to run ad-campaigns. Their walled garden always have had weeds and poison ivys. And apple sucks in case of side loading even for developers, you can only keep your own developed apps for 30 days, and 90 days in case you pay them $100 per year for testflight.
I hate this entirely, meaning: I don’t want side loading; this was the creation and conviction of the creators end of story. I’m against the EU here
Apple will limit it to 3 apps, 3 days, 3 devices. Have fun!
I’m sure they will try. They tried to make the usb c thing still proprietary there
Does this mean we can download APKS?
Yes
This sideloading feature will only be for EU
I just want to play my old games on my iPhone without having to update every seven days it’s so annoying
Sideloading should be able to put Fortnite back to phones
Some apple executive cried today
Me having Samsung with Galaxy store that has Fortnight in it and still not playing the Game 💀
What about the fact that Cydia had the “App Store” before the bullshit App Store existed
Sorry but you failed to bring up any of the negative and significantly more toxic things Tim Sweeny and Epic Games have said and done.
There is a clause in the terms that say if they believe that this provides a security risk then it can be stopped
9:00 They will probably realise it with the phones region which you can set at will. Changing it to France for example will deactivate downclocking the device „to save battery life“ or rather why it was banned in France. Because they intentionally worsened the phones over time by software limitations to encourage you to buy a new device.
I long to use something similar to vanced on ios
Click bait title. This video DOES NOT CONTAIN any information on how side loading might be accessible for users.
I hate App Store
Honestly if they added sideloading and had a cheap type c Iphone I would consider switching to iphone ngl
A feature I’ll literally never use….ever. Though just cause I won’t doesn’t mean others shouldn’t be able to, bout time it was a thing.
Sideloading was reasons i got a iPhone
If eu wants sideloading, then let them develop their OS. Stores should be free to accept or refuse suspicious software,
Imagine sideloading a Banking app?
Wtf are you talking about,if you don’t want to use it then just don’t use it,you are not forced to use it
I really want to play Infinity Blade again! 3:05
Can you imagine your great grandmother buying Singer sewing machine (both the price of mobile phones now)… and being told that in 5-8 yrs, it would be useless, even though it was high quality and still worked just fine?
the only people who seem to care are android users who would never use iPhone no matter what, but want to force their ideas on everyone.
I may actually buy an iphone now if this is true
if apple was to be stingy, they could only allow side loading on EU phone models/accounts.
no wayyyyyyyyyyy sideloading for real now in iOS wooo
2024 it is then! As we didn't get this.
we are not going to see google/amazon app store apps on iOS, because these are android apps, and they're built to run on android.
I hope they extend this to all supported OSes (15/16/17)
iOS 17 really isn’t much different from iOS 15. I wouldn’t say it has “a ton of new tricks”
where are all the app, theres nothing in the apple store, all the apps suck, no netflix, no call of duty mobile .... nothing
Apple isn't going to announce anything untill they are at the deadline, or they have a way to spin it like it was their idea in the first place. Like with the iphone 15's USB C port, we all know it was a forced move, but they certainly talked it up like it was their plan in the first place.
FINALLY , A REASON TO USE AN IPHONE 😈😈😈
You buy a iPhone for its uncompromising security why would you risk that! I’m staying with apple ONLY.
12 minutes of empty content.. Epic lawsuit, Android sideloading, EU forcing Apple to think more about customers. Heard all of them. Nothing new information about the issue -> clickbait.
I want iPhone for iTunes music
Honestly I'm not too upset by the idea of scary warning messages as outlined here, people who know what they're doing won't care and just hit OK and people who don't know what they're doing will either do the research or just stop which is the best outcome really
iphone are rare iphones share is mere 15% so ofc malwares for that 15% will be rare 😂
