Is the US headed toward a recession despite cooling inflation?

  • The Producer Price Index (PPI) unexpectedly dropped in May, signaling cooling inflation. However, Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management chief investment officer Brent Schutte believes the economy is still on track for a recession and joins Morning Brief to lay out his case.
"I think investors are discounting too easy of a process. They think miraculously inflation is going to come down without causing or having the economy slow too much to cause a recession. They think the Fed is going to be able to miraculously cut rates and keep a slowing economy from moving toward a recession," Schutte says. He believes that a recession is the most likely outcome, pointing to the low-end consumer already under pressure from credit card and auto loan debts.
Schutte explains that the current market is bifurcated: "While the S&P is up, every other part of the market is down. And the S&P has been driven by the 'Mag Seven,' which are up 17% while the rest of the S&P 493 names are actually down 2%." He adds, "I think there's opportunities for investors. Unfortunately, they're not in places that people are looking right now."

My main concern is how to survive all of these financial and political crisis, especially in light of the US political power struggle.

Bad year for me, META down 40k, ALLP down 35k, Draft Kings down 6k, NIO down 15K, ABML down 8k, and my wife doesn’t know. I'm just hanging on to Jim Cramer's words about opportunities in volatile times so perhaps, I either wait for a recovery or pick profitable investments to substitute for my loss.

I agree that hiring a portfolio coach is a smart move and that in this case, patience is your best friend. I make a lot of investments and cannot afford to take the risk of doing it alone. Instead, since the rona outbreak began in late 2019, my portfolio has been maintained by a qualified advisor. I only need about $86k more to reach my three million dollar ROI goal.

News Alert! Inflation hasn't just started to affect us. People have been suffering greatly from inflation for almost a century, but notably after 1971. During the industrial revolution, prices of products and services were auctioned down to the point that consumers could literally buy them for as little as a penny thanks to a free market and sound money. All of the problems we have today are a result of government meddling.

It has never been easier to understand how to build your money than it is right now, when you may study and experience a completely variegated market passively by employing a successful portfolio-advisor. The impacts of the U.S. dollar's gain or fall on investments, in my opinion, are complex.

I think it's great to use a portfolio advisor when investing. Before I met with a certified portfolio advisor during the pandemic crash in March 2020, I had recently started having terrible dreams. Finally, with the help of my advisor, I was able to increase my initial investment of $400k to over $2.8 million dollars.

Where may one locate a wise FA? Even while I like the idea of using their services, it's unfortunate that recent stock market catastrophes have started to happen more frequently.

I foresee a recession lasting 2-3 years, and if inflation continues to surge, the Federal Reserve will likely raise interest rates soon. Inflation is causing various issues worldwide, such as food shortages, scarcities of diesel and heating fuel, and significant spikes in housing prices, leading to a potential financial market crash. This global downturn could have long-lasting repercussions. Given the current inflation rate of approximately 9%, my main worry is how to optimize my savings and retirement fund, which has remained stagnant at around $300,000, yielding almost no gains for quite some time.

Numerous opportunities exist to achieve substantial profits at present, but executing high-volume and nearly flawless trades requires the expertise of real-time professionals with an ISDA Agreement. This agreement allows investors to participate in sophisticated trades, exclusive to seasoned individuals, and unavailable to amateurs. Attempting to be a high-stakes trader without an ISDA is akin to trying to win the Indy 500 riding a llama.

I'm sure the idea of an invstment-Adviser might sound controversial to a few, but a new study by Motley-fool found out that demand for Financial-Advisers sky-rocketed by over 42% since the pandemic and based on firsthand encounter I can say for certain their skillsets are topnotch. I've accrued north of 580k within 16-months from an initially stagnant Portf0lio worth 85k.

He dont want to work as a tech repair engineer for a local BB company because it is only $50k salary but teh irony is he has not worked the past 5 years.

When you look at the charts you can see that history has proved a recession does not supervene when the yield spread is inverted. It only supervenes when the yield spread reverts to the usual. So all the fed governors have to do his ease rates but not enough to cause yield spreads to revert . 😊😊
