Today, getting what you need is as easy as a trip to the store. From food to clothing, energy, medicine, and so much more, Andy George will discover what it takes to make everything from scratch. His mission is to understand the complex processes of manufacturing that is often taken for granted and do it all himself. Each week he’s traveling the world to bypass the modern supply chain in order to harvest raw materials straight from the source. Along the way, he’s answering the questions you never thought to ask.

I swear this show should be on discovery channel and should be more popular. it's like "how it's made" but better.
I use these videos in my 4th grade class. Only downside is that the narrator sometimes mumbles or speaks too quickly and it's hard to understand certain words he says. Otherwise they are great!
Richard was so sweet, he seems like such a caring teacher :')
I wish my ceramics teacher was as great as this guy when I was in High School!
KonservenFurz I wish I had a ceramics class when I was in High school.
That pottery demonstration was so steamy it fogged up my phone. 😯
Snooglez oMG
dude you deserve more attention
hi
the reason this channel is so small is that the videos are too short.
1:00:00
lol
12:00:00:00:00:00
Well I waited and waited, but Richard never leaned in and whispered "I hunger for your touch". :(
Excellent videos, keep it up!
There was a really good comment on the other video about glass bottles, I would hope that you read it. I think it would be nice if you were more descriptive than just saying, "it's aged up to 7 years". (when I google it, it said that the clay became more flexible and workable due to the water penetrating more thoroughly through the fine particles and few other processes) Perhaps you can assume the viewer will ask the question "why" to your every statement, and then answering those that you think are reasonable...
Maybe it wasn't explained to him why they age the clay other than it improves it. But yeah I agree that the more information the better.
kagi95 yeah true but it's good now, too.
Thank you I was wondering why clay had to be aged
I yelled WHY?! at my phone after the, "aged for seven years" comment.
The teacher guy is like the Bob Ross of pottery
+intensity digital LMAO :) true
intensity digital if only you met my ceramics teacher he has been recognized as having one of the best ceramics classes in the country
I don't like how touchy he is. That would make me feel really uncomfortable...
intensity digital i
+tegan burns pottery is a 'touchy' business ... probably how he learned from his master
*Kudos to Richard for being a really nice, awesome, funny, and supportive potter teacher!*
I’m from Minnesota, and this guy is authentic.
His “uh huhs”, “alrights”, and “okays” make it obvious.
im a new subscriber and im amazed how ur channel isnt more popular. in my opinion u r one of the most creative channels on utube and create incredible content. keep up the good work😁
Richard seems like such a nice dude.
What an amazing teacher you met! His pacience and didatics makes me want to learn pottery, to be in the class with you guys! Really, this teacher transcend in love for what he do! Amazing!

At my house in Ohio, Clay is absolutely everywhere, I made a clay marble that I Sun dried with it once, Clay is pretty cool stuff.
Oh my God I love love love clay like that, Im sure that studio smells earthy and amazing. I know I'm weird but if you like the smell of old books, you probably know what I'm talking about
You need a Television show on your journeys and the things you've learnt, When watching this It feels like a Television show
I think this guy might know my ceramics teacher. My teaching has been recognized as having on of the best ceramics classes. He makes this process so much more simple
WHOA! Learning to throw on a Korean style kick wheel?!?! I need to give Andy props. I've worked in clay including on the wheel for 20 years and even I would need a day or two to make something decent on that type of wheel!
Working on the wheel must've been a workout. Luckily my school has motorized pottery wheels.
i use a wooden kick wheel and it is not so hard, i kind of like it more
I really liked the teacher. He seemed to really enjoy what he does and it showed. Keep up the good videos
It’s amazing to see so many people who are passionate and knowledgeable about what they do
I love the videos dude, they're fantastic! As they are a new series, you could still use a liiiiiittle polishing though.
You should write out your narration script and have it proof read (you misused the word ran when you should have used run), and likekagi95 said, you could really use some more explanation as to the why some things are done.
None of these are complaints persay, just observations. I am truly inspired by these videos, and I can't wait for more! Keep at it guys!
hes like standing there totaly shy and he dosen't seem like he would do this tipes of videos... and its totally cool:D
The teacher is my favorite person to ever be on this channel

first! awesome video. I realy like your channel. don't be so hard on yourself. the stuff you try is daringly complex!
Amazing patience and dedication in this video. Great job man.
Couldn't help but hear Unchained Melody in my head when he was helping you lol!
it was so cute how crooket the lil of the bottle was
Nice collection on how to make everything
Why do they age the clay?
Thanks for the question. We will find out!
Did you ever get the answer?
no...
Clay is aged to enhance a working property called plasticity. Over the time it's aged, bacterial growth allows it to stretch farther without cracking or collapsing as easily as it does if used immediately.
Awesome! Thanks, Josh.
I come from Thailand. I like this Channel
wish i had a teacher like this man when i learned how to throw
Great video and great channel ! keep it going guys !
I want to be just like this guy when I grow up
Me too
Most satisfying video ever?
My mother buit herself a house on a patch of land with a lot of clay. In Trinidad, many of us are of Indian descent and so use clay ovens. She dug the clay straight out of the erth and built an outdoor choulha right there. No refinement, just built it on site right next to the hole it was dug out from.
This is my next favorite channel
Can't stop thinking about how much content that ostrich egg had
Very cool man, would be neat to see a final product / or maybe a wrap up video in the future.
Keep Em Coming!
James
Very intimate episode.
It's funny when you open another youtube tab in your browser and listen to Righteous Brothers - Unchained Melody while starting this video at 4:37
this channel is freaking great and I absolutely love these videos.
Finally something I have experience with! I loved learning the pacing of the wheel. But I lack the hand strength to cinch the neck.
I discovered this channel by random browsing and I already subscribed as it is very interesting to watch. But please, make the episodes LONGER, because everything that is less than 10 minutes is making me sad :(. Everything but that, your videos are amazing!
Go Minnesota!!!
Richard was my Dad's teacher!
You only got 50k subs? Wow..great vids man keep up the good work, you deserve millions!
awesome, I'm loving this channel

Wedging clay is the best part of pottery class.
Richard's apprentices look more like Richard's henchmen

So cool
Yaas
It's good.
Sir, not bad!
muy buen video. excelente.
Andy I know this is old vid but go team up with primitive technology he is homeade like you but builds this kind of stuff all by himself he is very skilled at this point, he lives in australia.
i wonder how long it would've taken to make clay pots pre-industrial times
Next proyect: create a planet from scrach
I know you say to strain, but wouldn't that capture only organic things like leave and twigs? Is there any process or technique to ensure you're getting only clay and not humus?
does anyone actually know the reason they age the clay?
so i got this from another comment:
Clay is aged to enhance a working property called plasticity. Over the time it's aged, bacterial growth allows it to stretch farther without cracking or collapsing as easily as it does if used immediately.
Wait you live in Minnesota I do too
I'm kinda interested to see what Richard's right leg looks like compared to the rest of his body after decades of doing pottery like that.
we did this for art at school but they were greek bowls
You need to do an episode on how to make ice cream.
+Freemind Keep checking back, it's coming!
+How To Make Everything Maybe Ice cream sandwich?
@5:30 cue “Unchained Melody”
Wait... so was this the place where you found clay for that bloomery you built for the Tools series?
I played Unchained Melody while they were forming the bottle XD
Can this guy be my grandpa ASAP
Too. Many. Harry. Potter. REFERENCES!!. so. many. regrets... Im Dead
Why dose clay have to be aged?
