Is there any way to have the pencil not charge when connected to the ipad? Maybe don't charge unless it gets to 75%? I find it drains my ipad air just being attached.

I have followed the simple instructions to recharge my 2nd gen Apple Pencil, long story, have had it 3 year and never used it. Even in a drawer. Tried to connect it with he,p from Apple chat about 18 months ago and gave up. I’m clueless. Anyway. I have learned a little bit more today from a daughter’s friend and I have connection to my iPad but zero charge. Even after switching off and on, disconnecting, it still won’t charge. Cleaned the pencil and the rim of the iPad. Can anyone suggest another solution please? Many thanks in advance..

The ipencil is dead unfortunately. Some people say to wrap it in a heating blanket for 10 minutes and then try charging it again, but I did this and it still didn’t work

I have apple pencil Gen 1 which was not charger for few months, battery was absolutely flat, was not able connect it to iPad, I did rap the pencil in a small towel and put a pot with boiling water on the towel for 20 minutes, to my surprise it did give the batter a bit of juice to charge again, so it did work for me.

When putting the pencil anywhere but on top of your device do the following.
    1. Goto settings>bluetooth select the i with circle next select ‘forget this device’.
    2. The next time you put the pencil on top of your device it will connect automatically.
This prevents the pencil from draining it’s battery.

i just bought an apple pencil, has this method been working for you? ive been wondering if theres any difference between keeping it attached or disconnecting it after using. have you noticed any affect on your apple pencil's battery?

@@morphed9444 Yup still working this way for me. It’s the only way I know of to stop the battery from draining when the pencil is off the iPad but close enough to be connected.

sorry i have another question, but turning off bluetooth instead of pressing 'forget this device' would work the same right? i dont have any other bluetooth devices so i think it would be better to turn it off completely to save battery.

@@morphed9444Yes. Keeping it at 100% is worse for it than getting it to 80% then shutting it off for battery longevity. Different batteries have different care procedures for storage and longevity, for Li-Ion you want around 75. for NiMH you want 50. NiCad wants full power cycles (I think)

It is possible to replace the battery if you are willing to destroy the case and replace it with a 3D-printed one. However, it's not practical and only a few people do it. There are videos covering this process on RUclips.

This video is a waste of time. The pencil goes flat after 2 days and that's the problem why people look for a solution, not leaving it for 2 weeks.

The title says "how to fix Apple Pencil Battery Draining", so this has nothing to do with the contents because obviously, there is no fix

That’s not the solution. solution is, we should be given the option when to use when not to use and when we are not using it, it should be off the power on and off option should be given to us either through iPad or through pencil itself. if we keep charging constantly the battery will drain eventually, as well as it will drain the iPad battery. So either way we are losing the battery of either pencil or the iPad and we are consuming the battery constantly so that’s not the solution that’s not correct solution.

At a stupid idea from Apple .. i don’t know why I have to stick the pencil to iPad or it will keep running and lose battery
You could be Chinese versions of pencil and cost you like 5% of total cost of Apple Pencil and you’ll have much better battery life because you an turn it on and off

How to fix... you don't. You have to charge it all the time. It sucks.
