Listening to this laying on the floor not trying to make a noise while my baby sleeps. I have tears falling down my eyes, this album is already super important to me.
I remember listening to „What he wrote“ as despondent teenager, feeling so touched by this woeful song mirroring my own feelings of sadness. It‘s been so beautiful to grow alongside with her music to come to this beautiful place now, rich with meaning, love and hope. This song will serve as a reminder of how full life can truly be
Such a loving homage to your baby. Brava, Laura, it appears you have a new muse for your already awesome songwriting and inspired musicianship. So looking forward to the release of the new album. Be well.
I’m crying after looking through the lyrics. During the bridge I really thought about that precious period of time my family shared and have been missing for a lifetime. It truly moved me so much. Wonderful song as always looking forward to the album
Несравненная Лора Марлин! The sweetest period of life when a child is absolutly "mine" for parents. Every second she is growing more and more of she's own. Sad but inspiring)
If only life stood still in those sweetest of moments. Your child will always be yours. Your job is to build the child into a top-notch adult, so they in turn (if they choose) can have a child of their own and impart all of the wisdom you shared and all the love you gave, and feel that which I imagine is the greatest feeling possible. 'The nights can be long, as the days go fast'. Nurturing experiences for a child serve as a demonstration on how to exercise love. Perhaps try to look at things under a different lens? In your experience as a parent through that nuturing process, let's propose that love is a proprtionately an inward construct (The child is yours, biologically or otherwise), the parent is complete control. If you can't demonstrate to a child how to love they are being set up for failure. Good parents teach their children how to love. As those children grow perhaps love from a parent needs to be more 'outward' at it's core. Once a child is an adult afterall, they are now in complete control of their choices. If they suceed? As a parent, if you have done your job well, if you are proud of your child, if you love your child and your child is in turn is both proud and loving towards you? If everyone is 'outwardly' loving in this equation? Proportionately, that is inspiring. But you have your own eyes, and I am not a parent, so I could never entirely understand the sadness you feel. I would probably make for a terrible parent. It is good thing I do not intend to be one. I will leave that to you, and to Laura. All the best. *Blessings* xo
Reminds me of Adrienne Lenker in a lot of ways, and I like them both equally for only very slightly different reasons. Fascinating; thank you, Laura Marling 🕊️🤍

I wept listening to this too. Wife is pregnant. Will be a father soon. Music is powerful.
As a recent father, this strikes a lovely chord...utterly gorgeous
Imagine being sung to sleep every day by Laura Marling 😭😭

Her talent is beyond compare. The way I connect to her music is otherworldly

The tracks from the new album are the best I have heard from Laura since the first Two albums.

Not so sure babys are born in wheatfields rather than educated by screens. Maybe poetry would be stronger inside reality. Love Laura.
