      Namaste Schneider. My intention is not to make fun of your loved one. If I unintentionally do it, please forgive me. I want to know which country do you live in? Because we Indian are not good at football so no one near me teaches me. I want to know whether talent depends on surrounding or not.

      Caleb Schneider imagine someone trying to move your foot and your trying to hold it no matter what they do. Your calf muscle is tightening. And your driving through the ball without your foot flexing. With an ankle locked you will get much more consistent power.

    Think of a seesaw in the playground. The pivot point is in the middle, and is called the fulcrum. This fulcrum does not need to be exactly in the middle - its just the part that acts as the pivot point. When one side goes up, the other side goes down. Generally speaking, the ankle is the pivot point (fulcrum) of the foot. At the back-side of the ankle's pivot point is the heel, and at the front-side are the toes. The act of "locking your ankles" is the same as when you stand on your tipy-toes. In order to do this, you must flex your calve muscles. The calve muscle is connected to the heel, and when the calve muscle contracts (shrinks) is pulls up on the heel. Since the heel is in the back-side of the "pivot point", when its pulled upwards (by the calve muscle) it means the front-side of the "pivot point" (the toes) will move down. This is the "seesaw" I was talking about. You must hold and "lock" that position through the striking/kicking motion. This is what it means when saying "locking your ankle."
    However, when the toes are pointed down from "locking your ankles" - it means the front of the ankle is fully stretched. Meaning, the tendons and ligaments that connect the ankle's pivot point to the top of the foot (the "laces") - it means these tendons and ligaments are fully stretched and extended. In other words, the pivot point has reached its maximum pivot range. Forcing it any further will break the pivot point. So when practicing your shots, and swinging your leg to strike the ball - you must take care not to accidentally dig your toes or cleats into the turf. Otherwise you will hyper-extend those tendons and ligament, and possible cause serious injury to your ankle.
    That is why you practice "locking your ankles" first. Then swinging your legs without actually striking a ball. Then stand over the ball and start striking softly, and building up to medium force. Once you feel comfortable, you start introducing a "one step" run-up to the ball and strike it with medium force. Then a "two steps", then a "three steps" - each time making sure not to dig your toes or cleats into the turf. This will take a little time. But always make sure that you are also striking the ball with your "laces" - this is the sweet spot of your foot for some added power into the technique. And strike the ball just below the middle, fat part of the ball - this is the sweet spot of the ball. When both these "sweet spots" meet together..., I promise you that the ball will POP nicely. It even feels nice on the foot. Put it all together and you have one full motion and technique - this is what you need to master.

    great video I've just subscribed....but can you make another video about this topic showing exactly how you kick the ball in slow motion? I mean if you can get a 120 fps video camera and slow it down to 24 fps and position the camera in different angles, next to the ball, behind the ball a little bit to the front....that will help a lot, for example I don't know if you approach to the ball with your to coming in 45 degrees? Great channel, I am trying to learn to teach my daughters...Thanks

    I scored average one or two goals in any given game. The trick is the more times you get inside the penalty box the more chances you score goals. Once you are inside the box try not to pass but shoot at any opportunity. The harder you hit the more you miss, just look at target spot then chip or touch is enough like Michael Owens, Messi.

    stand on your toes. heck you could even lift your heels off the ground when sitting down.. when approaching the ball your shooting foot should stand on the toes on its final step b4 hitting the ball. your next motion swinging youll notice your ankle is harder without much effort at all. nice content here. the idea anyway. practice a day of this. the muscle on the back of your leg below the calf is called the Soleus musclethey are more along the sides for stability. this muscle is responsible for the primary movement assisted by some secondary muscles to help stabilize the action being done.

    Pointing your toes down would only involve flexing your calf muscle (specifically the back calf muscle). Like standing on your tippie-toes. This means the front shin muscle is not engaged at all? If the front shin muscle is not engaged and flexed - that means it is instead full extended (as well as any lower shin, and ankle ligaments). Doesn't that also cause a problem? If the shin muscle is fully extended and stretched (because the calf muscle is fully flexed), then the force of your swing and impact on the ball, plus the weight of the ball would cause your shin muscle and ligaments to over-extend on each impact. This would cause repetitive slight hyper-extension on the shin ligaments, and cause fatigue and eventual shin pain. It happens to me now (since I no longer play for a long time, but am trying to teach my son). I think you also need to flex the shin muscle right before impact in order to counter the hyper-extension (from impacting the ball). In that last split second, that is when both the back calf muscle and front shin muscle are both engaged and flexed together at the same time. This is a truly locked ankle. A similar example would be flexing both your bicep and tricep arm muscles together at the same, in order to lock your arm at the elbow (like playing a game with your child and telling to try and move dady's super arm). Can you help me confirm this, or am I totally wrong and been doing this wrong my whole life...? Thanks.

      Just keep practicing flexing it and lock it down in place. You won't get it on the first try, but over time you will

    do you tense your toes???

    • @gameration6450
      @gameration6450 7 лет назад

      man i got your point....it WILL get tense in locking....but i think once u practice alot, it will not…because the muscle that's getting tensed will grow bigger eventually

  • @frederickchan8806
    @frederickchan8806 7 лет назад

    Hey simple soccer! I have a question. When I do a one on one with the keeper, why does my ball goes straight to the keeper? Is there a specific spot of the inside foot that I must use? Thanks for helping!

    • @SimplySoccer
      @SimplySoccer  7 лет назад

      You'll have to be more specific. This could be down to many things. You could curl it around them, side foot it around them, dribble it around them and so on.

    • @frederickchan8806
      @frederickchan8806 7 лет назад

      SimplySoccer thanks for replying. You see, in my head I am thinking of where I want the ball to go. But in reality it flew straight to the keeper who is in the center of the post most time. My question is, when is shoot with the inside of my feet, do I need to position it at some angle for better accuracy?

    • @loicb2746
      @loicb2746 7 лет назад +4

      i think its because you point your shoulders towards the center. I was just like you ( even with penalty's ) till i started pointing my shoulders towards the place i wanna shoot. You should try that.

    Should I lock my ankle when pinging the ball? If so, is it straight down like a shot?

    • @SimplySoccer
      @SimplySoccer  6 лет назад

      Yes. But you will be striking the ball from a different angle. Hard to explain when I can't show you, but I think there are some tutorials on YT about how to do it.
