Of particular interest is the life the couple led during the American Civil War, one of the most dramatic episodes in American history and one of the most challenging times for any President. A daughter of the Bluegrass aristocracy, Mary was subjected to family opposition to her marriage, interrupted courtship and a rocky road to becoming Mrs. Lincoln. Then the couple went on a roller coaster ride from the state capital in Springfield, Illinois to the White House. Examining her roles from as First Lady to First Widow, Catherine Clinton will explore this flawed and fascinating character through a series of questions and answers.
