I completely agree, he just didn’t want to wear his seatbelt. Since he was nice enough to show us around and share all this info I didn’t want to TELL him to put his seatbelt on.
Thank y'all so much for this video. I was pondering a little walkabout to San Felipe next week to shop for some land. This video pushed me over the edge. So stoked. Thanks again
I spend a couple of weeks every year in this place and it’s very safe and relaxing. Most rentals will have a roof with nice patio furniture where you can also see the amazing stars
Great video and well done. The sales guy REALLY turned me off by not directly answering a question. There is always a reason for that. No water is a deal breaker for me.
That place is huge. It looks like it would be a terrific place to retire to, nice homes, gated community nice amenities. If I was 10 years and had the money I might consider it.
So true. I'm sure there are reasonable priced communities in many states. I love lots of green trees and grass, so I think I'd find that area of Mexico hard to stay too long, but it would be nice to visit. Thanks for sharing.
Just came back from 2 days in San Felipe. We came with fairly high expectations but after 2 days we didn't really want to stay longer. Driving around, certainly the place has natural attractive attributes. The valley of the Gigantes, with the awesome huge cactus plants are chief among them. Tranquil, clean ocean water with high tides are great. Several of restaurants offering see food, great! However:...we could not ignore the many many eyesores in the form of abandoned buildings, large and small, deserted houses, boarded up/ partially finished structures etc. All abandoned/deserted. Why??? We were wondering... Had San Felipe experienced some traumatic times in recent years that caused so many people to flee? I mean, portion of the town is boarded up. Seriously, does anyone know why?
Our understating is San Felipe was slated to become a cruise ship stop some years back and investors built assuming the demand would be there to match supply. Unfortunately, they were passed over in the end and those investments and projects were abandoned. We aren’t locals and weren’t involved but that’s the story we have heard when we’ve learned about the history of the town.
This was an boing, boing, boing, interesting video. Looks like prices have gone boing, boing, boing, up, but you still have a small off grid fixer for $20K USD. Nice. We're looking at getting out of the U.S. for retirement - just have to tell the wife were moving ;)
Cool place...they used to have a huge RV park at that location. Stayed there many times. Bulldozed it to build the homes. Did you Guys Go To the diner/bar?
I'VE BEEN GOING TO SAN FELIPE SINCE 1975,THERE WAS VERY LITTLE THERE BACK THEN,JUST HEAT LOTS OF HOT DAY'S 🔥 ,IF I WAS TO LIVE IN MEXICO RETIRE ETC ,IT WOULD HAVE TO BE PORTA VIARRTA,WAY BETTER THAN SAN FELIPE IN SO MANY WAYS, ESPECIALLY COST,2ND WOULD BE CABO OR LAS CABOS AREA, IT COST A BIT MORE BUT WAY BETTER THAN SAN FELIPE, LA PAZ IS GREAT AS WELL
In 6 years a 1 bedroom in Reno NV has doubled, in a decent neighborhood I'm looking at 1300 to 1600 now compared to the 625 lease I had enjoyed. My landlord has chosen to sell the residence I have occupied the past 7 years. I'm just heart sick, but at the same time I have observed the de-evolution of ﹰReno and the ﹰUSA at large and am seriously considering this next chapter of my life as perhaps an opportunity. Disabled with a fixed income, I don't do poverty well and I'm looking at my purchasing power sink like a rock. Currently 2900.00 is my income without tax liability, Im 64 years old, widowed and I love the "familia" culture that is practically non-exist in the USA, I haven't any children so..... How hard can the decision be?
Merida, Yucatan, Mexico beats this place by a mile..is cheaper in all aspects..and has world class restaurants, museums, shopping, and is rated the safest city in all of Mexico. On your income you could live very comfortably in a 2-3 bedroom home for under $800 a month.
I'm not trying to defend the sales guy BUT...he's correct when he talks about the variances in pricing, he wasn't being evasive. I've seen solar homes needing a lot of work selling at 20k and have seen homes in the 400k+ range that are decked out. He's correct when he's saying it's what you're looking for that matters, if you are set in just living down there in the winter then a cheap solar home may be the ticket, if you plan to live year round then an electric home is a must due to the power requirements to run the AC. I agree that he should have at least buckled his seat belt as he knows this was being video recorded....loss of a good sales opportunity as that was VERY annoying. I've visited my mom and stepdad there 3 years ago and loved it down there in El Dorado...so much that I just purchased an electric home for under 100k. Family has been living there for 14 years (year round) and they love it. They did say it gets very hot down there in the summer but that's what air conditioning is for. I plan to rent out my place for a while before I retire then snow-bird it when I do retire...I do want to have the option of living year round in case it gets too expensive in the states.
...Oh hey, not sure of your time line, but if your still in Mexico, or near Mexico City....Mark Weins just posted his foody @ Los Sifones, Mexico City - Molcajete Caliente. Would love you guys take on this place, /cheers:)
Pets are allowed if that’s what you mean, plus there’s a great vet in town Dr Solis that everyone loves, and pets are welcome to sit on all of the restaurant decks with you, so definitely a pet friendly place to go!
Good to hear. Everywhere you go, you take Shelby (I think), and its good to see such a pet friendly community. I have a GSD and Husky, one real friendly, one a PIA...I do think they would like the water:)
Was that a stop sign he blew through like it wasn't there? What's this guy's name? He's a real know-bot. Appreciate his insights on things. A lot of experience.
We bought a place on the Eldorado ranch, before roads were improved and stop signs were planted in the sand banks along side the roads. It was pretty funny to see these signs sitting at all angles. They were(are) often disregarded on the ranch, as there isn’t a lot of traffic, and you’re able to see for miles in any direction, being that it’s desert. Our experience over 13 years visiting once or twice a year, was wonderful! So many friendly people and the best were the locals, who were so welcoming and helpful. The village of SF was struggling after losing the majority of their fishing industry due to a hurricane, so they appreciated our dollars at stores & restaurants, which were great!! It has continued to be a part time home for our Canadian & American friends, & just gets better as years go by. We recommend, whole heartedly👍🥰❤️
@@loriescott8957 Thank you for your post. My wife and i are taking our second trip out in December and we are considering buying a lot and building a home there. We were impressed during out first visit. Our kind of place. On the quiet side, not crowded, friendly and safe. Those were our first impressions.
That's a lot of information and the sales rep seemed very pleasant. Huh, no free serape. Good line. I guess those were all dirt roads, or very brown paving? The options were pretty decent. It's too bad they have the 1500 sq ft minimum on the full utility side. I think some people are trying to stay smaller than that. I'd have to know all the details of the land trust thing. That doesn't thrill me. The style of the houses is great, that Santa Fe thing. People don't seem to do much landscaping, and the basic desert is fairly stark. It's curious to have lots with no utilities and lots with very US style restrictions. These are pretty good options. I don't view a house as an investment, but I own a big chunk of land, with a basic house, that is worth something. RV's are like maximum depreciation, killer depreciation. I'm sure it's better to own something like a lot and house. The standard RV's are such rubbish, terrible designs. You really packed a lot into that half hour. Couple of times I thought you should have let the gentleman speak, a bit more, but Ben gets a little amped up.
The price of the lots seem rather high. We're in a fantastic community with 5 championship golf courses and 11 lakes and the lot next to ours, which is lake front is $50,000 and non lake front can be as low as 2000. I'd much rather stay on the US.
Between the driver blowing through the stop sign to that annoying seat belt alarm and the guy seemingly avoiding any direct answers, this was a waste of time.
Was there in 1996......best vacation of my life, looks like now it has been over built !! too bad, they have destroyed the beauty and true flavor of a beautiful experience , go further South.....get the experience of the true Mexico !!!
I stopped watching the video early on due to the seat belt alert,....However,...after reading several comments (lots about the seat belt alert) that were favorable,....I went back to it, then eventually to the El Dorado Real Estate resale page,....and saw there was quite a range of properties for sale,....most already sold. Interesting information. Glad I went back to watch the remainder of the video.
Even though I'm leaving California finally, too many reaons to list. Mexico looks very appealing, however, I enjoy my 2nd amendment rights too much to be disarmed in Mexico.
Jeff 3056 lol do you always do what you’re told? I carried my gun in my backpack all throughout college. If something would’ve went down, I wouldn’t be in the closet calling the police and my mom. I do what I want.
did anyone else want to reach in and connect that guy's seat belt?
THANK YOU! For the sake of the video if nothing else.
I completely agree, he just didn’t want to wear his seatbelt.
Since he was nice enough to show us around and share all this info I didn’t want to TELL him to put his seatbelt on.
Vickie Carmichael no I never wear my here in LA
And he blew through the stop sign as well... smh... americans, right? Oh... never mind!
Haha, definitely yes!
Note to self: When filming a video in a car, BUCKLE YOUR SEATBELT!!!!! The dinging sound was very disruptive.
What a smooth talking sales person.
I agree sounded pretty slick. Talked me out of it
Oh, that's soooooo tempting!!! Thanks so much for this video!

Great video.
Good information to build from.
Really enjoying your last video, hope the hangover wasn't too too bad.
Cheers from Ontario Canada.
Great video and well done. The sales guy REALLY turned me off by not directly answering a question. There is always a reason for that. No water is a deal breaker for me.
Blows right though the stop sign!!
It's México 😀
It is really empty there there is never any people so they did not need to worry
Good and informative you guys are looking awesome your fan from Saudi Arabia
love the video I watch it every week
Thank so much for the tour video.

great Video, so much info. Thanks
Thanks for a very useful and informative video.
Very informative, thanks.
Great video, Thanks
Very interesting. Looks lovely, I'd be happy there ☀️🙂.
Great video. I'll be going in 2 weeks for a little vacation. If I love this place I'm going to look into invest in a small home.
Very well done. Thanks.
Thanx for sharing Bern....Having traveled many parts of this country "raw" land can range from $500 an acre to $200k to $400,000 for a acre plot.

We are looking into retirement in San Felipe but looking for more info from our fellow Canadian's .Whom would I or could I contact ?

On our recent trip we found the cooler temps of Todos Santos kind of nice.

I have a house in Reno and in this neighborhood do you have any questions
Merida, Yucatan, Mexico beats this place by a mile..is cheaper in all aspects..and has world class restaurants, museums, shopping, and is rated the safest city in all of Mexico. On your income you could live very comfortably in a 2-3 bedroom home for under $800 a month.

I’d love to move down there who can I talk to to help me make the move. Thanks
Do you have contact info for the real estate agent?
Looks like a good place to spend that cash that’s been hiding from the IRS.
I'm not trying to defend the sales guy BUT...he's correct when he talks about the variances in pricing, he wasn't being evasive. Agreed! my father in law bought a lot on the mountain side for $5k, we are looking at lots on the sea side for $60k plus.
Butler also controls who builds your house .
Remember folks this is San Felipe, on the East Coast of Baja and on the Sea of Cortez not the Pacific
...Oh hey, not sure of your time line, but if your still in Mexico, or near Mexico City....Mark Weins just posted his foody @ Los Sifones, Mexico City - Molcajete Caliente. Would love you guys take on this place, /cheers:)
That would be awesome. We’ll get to Mexico City one of these days.
Tell this guy to put his seatbelt on no one wants to hear the beeping 🙄
So how much was the condo ?
Denise Lefevre he probably didn’t want to say scare people away.
Butler is still trying to provide electric that was promised years ago to buyers .
Running Windows XP...wow!
Can you buy a lot and only put an RV on it, with full hookups?
Yes. That’s how a lot of people got started.
Sound like you all are moving!
Dig the street lamps, for some reason reminds me of El Camino Real....ps, I didn't hear anything about pets?
...how about super-duper real life:)
Pets are allowed if that’s what you mean, plus there’s a great vet in town Dr Solis that everyone loves, and pets are welcome to sit on all of the restaurant decks with you, so definitely a pet friendly place to go!

Cash only? 🤣 😆😂 OK, RIGHT, SIGN ME UP! 😂
Love this place, but too hot in the summer
You interrupted him when he was about to give the price ranges of the properties... He only was able to specify the price of lot.
can you trust a guy who doesnt bother to use his seat belt?
It annoyed me a lot!
In Central Mexico you can rent beautiful homes from $200.00 US Dollars and up .That's Two Hundred not Two Hundred Thousand .
200 no not anymore
Those houses look like mansions
We're in middle Tennessee. No state income tax either.
Not bad. There can be a tremendous price difference around the country.
They tax interest income, don't know what real estate tax is. but I'm like you and will stay in the U.S.
Yo put your flipping seat belt on!!!
Never trust a soothe talker sound like ponzi scheme.
There are tarantulas, scorpions and many rattlesnakes on the desert/solar side of El Dorado Ranch, EDR.
Alto means stop
I have fears of driving down there because of d bags like this
No one is there it’s like abandon town have the houses are not even finished so they don’t really need to worry
Well obviously ALTO is more of a recommendation

I agree the prices seem very high for Mexico.
Seem high to me to...
Jean Decker where do you live

This community is so big. A smaller gated community might be a better option
Two years makes all this chitchat obsolete
It’s a beautiful place , just not sure about the corporate America take over in Mexico other than the cost . I don’t see Mexico🧐
How are you “rich” gringos not being exploited by the cartels?
Being Americans and buying a basic house in a basic neighborhood. Doesn’t mean someone’s rich. Although Mexicans might see them as rich.
So much for stop signs
Lol i broke my wrist here riding my atv

Honestly, it’s just that one little area a few miles out of town that has been built up, downtown San Felipe is a genuine Mexico experience.
Outliers Overland thanks for that! I understand they’ve been trying to keep San Felipe clean and brighten up the town...is it working?
