  • This game was a complete mess! Both players were winning at some point! Check out this round 5 battle at the Superunited Rapid and Blitz, part of the Grand Chess Tour between Gukesh and Vidit. Vidit had lost all his 4 previous games and was clearly under pressure. Gukesh had just beaten the overnight leader MVL and was on a high.

    I just dont understand why vidit plays in shorter format
    Clearly arjun,nihal,pragg are more versatile and stronger when it comes to shorter format
    Vidit is way better in classical .

      Vidit is still behind them in classical. All 3 of them are higher ranked than him

      @@gowthamnayak6753 i think vidit is better against defensive players like hikaru

    • @gowthamnayak6753
      @gowthamnayak6753 22 дня назад

      @@LoneWanderer66 no, Hikaru made mistakes in opening and hence lost. 2 wins in candidate doesn't prove anything. Vidit doesn't have positive record against nepo, anish and Wesley who are actually defensive player and rarely overattack. He wins against super gms when they push for more and blunder. Aka Firouza etc.

    Honestly, Gukesh needs to improve a lot in shorter versions. He had no chance if there was a tiebreaker in the Candidates with Fabi/Hikaru/Nepo. Considering that many classical tournaments are decided in rapid/blitz tiebreaks, including WCC, he might suffer in future if he doesn't improve.

    • @studyonly9994
      @studyonly9994 21 день назад +2

      But he is best in classical which is the pure form of chess! So its okay! He is improving really well in these formats now

    No doubt, among GMs Vidit stands out. But against Super GMs he lacks consistency.

      Yeah but even after rook f2 and then queen f2 takes , vidit can play knight g4 which will result in a pin and I will be ahead in material and also after some moves white will be checkmated@@jyotsnapagag2625
