In this video I show how i build a forge from an old air compressor. I need a heat treating forge for some up coming projects so I figured this is the perfect time to build it.
I start by dismantling the air compressor to use the tank as the forge body. Once the take is stripped from all its paint I treated the metal with rust converter.
I lined the tank with a ceramic blanket to help retain the heat and added fire bricks so that my metal has a nice surface to lie on. I used refractory cement to "glue" the ceramic blanket to the walls. The blanket was then hardened using ceramic fiber rigidizer. Finally I coated the forge in a high temp paint. I decided to put together a simple venturi burner as these burners are easy to make and work well.

Your fabrication skills are impressive!!
Thanks for reminding me to empty the tank water 🥲😅 Great work!
Thanks Doc!!
I absolutely LOVE the shot from the inside when you were cutting the tank! This has been an interesting project to watch. The “imperfect” welds just show that you put in the effort to make a forge instead of just buying one that might not be exactly what you wanted or needed.
Your metal mascots are cute. I liked the owl “popping out” to the video.
Thank you glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
A tip you may already know. When cutting a bolt, put the nut on first. When you remove the nut it will reform the threads on the cut end.
Oh nice idea! I’ll have to try that next time!
nicely built😊
Thanks! 😊
Nice forge
Such a great work 😉😉
хорошая работа
Looking for a few improvement videos it can be a great forge the idea is sound
👍👍 👍 👍

In my opinion I would prefer two burner insted one, but thats so cool man. You can put wool too between the burner and the forge also for keeping heat and leaving it straight
I can always add another one if needed, I’m new to the forge world and like to try things out and experiment 🙂
@@DrRestoration Yes it's just my opinion, I love how you made that forge!
👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏🥃🥃🥃
Thanks 🍻
Now make me one kind sir I don't lack the knowledge but I lack the space for tools
Just start with small products and learn as you go :)
Can you explain Venturi concept please
saying goes rhode hard put up wet.

🤣 don’t tempt me!
I bet the paint burst into flames pretty fast
The Handel is backwards it should have locked on the door and been fastened to the body
Oops
It’s a best paper burner what I seen 😅

Чувак, купи нормальный сварочный аппарат, с углекислотой. Перестань заниматься анонищмом с щеткой и порошковой проволокой)))

I have a welder friend who welds like a god with a simple machine. If your hands grow out of your ass, then no cool device will help you.😅
