Wow. One of best interviews I’ve seen, and my first time on channel. Will definitely look forward to more. Appreciated his comment about his kids, and what he thought he thought they should know. My dad was a d-day survivor, that to this day, I have no idea about that day, nor his time up til St. Lo when he was wounded. Not until after his death was I able to see the letters he wrote home to his father, which he was sadly quite “shame filled” to even tell him that he had been wounded. The ONLY thing my father ever said about his service, was that “hedgerow fighting” was bad, and when in coronary intensive care, telling me he was not afraid to die, because he had been living on borrowed time since the day everyone in his location was killed, and he was only wounded. I'm asking i don't know never been in any combat mos colorblind and my hearing kept me from that dream of mine but you are saying the Rangers are better than delta force green berets and the seals i always thought the Rangers were like a step between regular infantry and spec ops like delta seals or green berets sorry for my lack of knowledge but hope you can inform me
@@jaredtomochak4946 they are not “better”, they just have a different mission. Usually the path would be big Army > Airborne > Ranger > SF > Delta but you can go straight to SF or sometimes SF guys don’t have their tab and go through Ranger School. Rangers master the basics for light infantry and train for specific missions. Delta masters the basics for CQB, HR, etc. It’s harder to get into Delta because they are smaller and the attrition rates are higher. So your best bet if you wanted to be in a higher tier of military unit is to just get to Ranger battalion then work your way up until you get to a point where you’re good and don’t need to prove anything else.
TONY - Thank you for putting out the real story from the rescuers' perspective. A lot of facts have gotten twisted in the communication of these events to the public. I agree with your assessment, I am going to say 20 - 30 TB fighters.

I remember in Bahrain they converted a trailer that you see on tractor trailers in to a shooting range to get people qualified or pre-qualified. They discovered the M60 had some rounds exited out the trailer, then they made it for M4/M16 and M9 only.

Speaking of Black Hawk Down, you Guys need to bring in Brad Thomas, who was one of the Rangers on the ground when the Black Hawk Down operation took place. In fact, Brad Thomas is even represented in the movie. Brad, even went on to serve in “The Unit”!. He’s a real cool dude that know spends much of his time touring with his band. He’d be an interesting guest.
Apparently, Marcus was lying about what happened. Lots of fuck ups that day. Robert’s Ridge was another fuck up. This guy is not saying everything that he knows
I never knew about the helicopter getting shot down after Red Wings. 2 years after this interview, I think it's commonly understood that Luttrell's (or NSW's) account was not accurate and the SEAL mission was a disaster from the start. Sad to discover that it cost the lives of another 16 men.
I read an excerpt from another book(written by a 2/3 marine I think) that said they dropped 4x1000lb JDAMS on the person heard on radio bragging about downing the helo and 3 or 4 of his buddies. Either way, I don't think there would be much left.
Great show. I did the same thing when I went in. Told my recruiter that I wanted airborne infantry contract. They tried to sell me on all kinds of other jobs. They finally agreed on 11X and told me to ask for airborne when I got to Benning. I called BS and walked out. They got pissed and called my recruiter in then called me back in and gave my airborne in my contract. Got to basic and got to see several guys ask for airborne and get the life smoked out of them for asking! LOL

The truth is Marcus haven'tt done enough for mr.gulab and that sucks.
We all know that the Army Rangers are proven tested in everything and one of the most remarkable and epic in the history of US Armed Forces during WW2 is the great raid in the philippines led by the US RANGERS in collaboration with the SCOUTS and Filipino Guerilla....................
Hats off to the Rangers... They are hard Men. When they say Rangers lead the way, that is no joke. Every dirty job that needs to be done, the Marines and Rangers are 1st to go...
Imagine that shit!!! Going to your chiropractor, and he says: " Yea. before I became a chiropractor, I was stacking bodies".. That would be friggin awesome...😂🍻🍻
It's insane to hear that they were qrf, engaged in a recovery mission, then leave it to go on another long patrol. Why in the F didn't they send regular Army qrfs straight to the rescue mission!? I was qrf multiple times on each deployment and we were amazing at filling that position. We trained hard for it and stayed redcon 2 ready to get after shit. Why send a group of exhausted Rangers to a mission like that? That's just asking for bad situations and senarios. Freakin Brass giving out ridiculous orders back in a safe zone, not having to go thru what Soliders out there go thru. Smh Thats the freakin Military for you though, ass backwards and nothing seems to ever make sense.
The Taliban was shooting down helos, so they weren't sending in the QRF on a helo. They got volunteers and walked/drove/rode mules into the mountains. Everyone who volunteered went. The Rangers were tired, but volunteered anyway so more props to them.
tf devil tried send in c 2-504 to secure the zone and we was on 3rd tour been all over this place and seals wouldnt do it and waited 2 days so they cover this shit up
It's funny you look at this guy and think "ah he looks like a nice fellow probably an accountant or computer programmer" and would never think he's done some of the most hardcore shit anybody has ever done or lived through and is legit HERO status lol awesome
Lessons learned; Re-Supply to Ranger Outpost needs improvement. Intel; needs a faster response back to Rangers at Outpost and Updates of any real-time info while moving/patroling to likely enemy contact. Comms has to be 100% at all times, for any mission. Cas was spot on, A 10's. Did the Rangers bring ropes with their Mountian insertion?
or u can use the elements who are literally right there and offered to help immediatley and have been in the mountains over there several deployments in kunar and pech

You use the shoulder and it’s always moving always wearing down and once the bone and cartridge is gone there’s nothing you can do . Unless you can miraclelousy regenerate the cartridge
What an incredible American, our hero Tony is. Thanks guys for such great interview
@Tony is this the actual Tony?
Dude there's so many channels I keep finding about military and this is just sick!!!
Rangers are the best light infantry force in the world. No other regimental-sized force can compare.
10th mountain division is light infantry as well, different from the Rangers but kinda the same
@@dougwilson6778 How are they the same?
@@dougwilson6778 10th mountain is trash. Their recent CQB video embarassed the entire military. Rangers would stomp them.
TONY - Thank you for putting out the real story from the rescuers' perspective. A lot of facts have gotten twisted in the communication of these events to the public. I agree with your assessment, I am going to say 20 - 30 TB fighters.
I just ordered 3 of Tony’s books . I look forward to learning the full wrap up of our courageous warriors putting everything on the line in hopeful recovery of lost brothers of Operation Red Wing .
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I add ! “Outstanding interview” from you all , solid experience and professionalism all the way !
I remember in Bahrain they converted a trailer that you see on tractor trailers in to a shooting range to get people qualified or pre-qualified. They discovered the M60 had some rounds exited out the trailer, then they made it for M4/M16 and M9 only.
Ive fires a 60 mm, many, but ive only fired the 240 i think they did away with the m60 in vietnam but we always listened to fdc
Great interview & great story! You guys are the real heroes & I'm so proud & glad that you are on our side!
Great Episode! Great to see account of Red Wings from Ranger perspective!
This guy is a proper intelligent person. Great to hear his stories.
My Cousin was a Ranger he served 10 years he suffered a broken back from his parachute not opening which caused him to go through some trees to stop his fall . Than he’s hit with an RPG in his Humvee everyone dies except him he was medically discharged after that
It’s interesting and probably understandable, how many different versions of this story is out there!
Coldest I have ever been, even with Cold weather training in the Arctic, 50's at night. After a day of sweating. No cold weather gear because "we didn't need it."
Sleeping on the ground. He nailed it.
Cupcakes thanks all of you brave men for the service of putting it on the line and then some and most of all for rescuing that swabby Marcus luttrell and recovery for our brother's from different mother's I have the utmost respect for all you men who answered the bugles and I am very grateful to be born in the United States of America and a lot of people don't know that a soldier goes where they are told they don't make policy's and could care less about that Bull chip's thanks again gentleman for all of you and your family members
Xcellent episode.I’m listening to the Audiobook.Great perspective from the Rangers and the sacrifice they made to find the downed bird and Lutrell.RLTW.
That WAS SAD......seeing the guys that had NObody show up to see them graduate.....sucks
Cant help but notice you're drinking a gansett! Born and raised in Narragansett RI. Love and appreciation to you boys!
Thank you TH and Tony.
You guys are Heroes!!! Aloha, for what u do....great interview!!!
Love the detailed questions! Thank you. Makes it so interesting and like a mini movie. Im there with him.
RRD left from JBAD via vehicles with a company from 2/75 enroute to ABAD. The team walked to the crash site from ABAD where most of the rangers fast-roped in. 53:50
Appreciate the presentation. Be strong brothers.
I love how everyone is saying Lone Survivor is a lie, when none of these people were there!!
Tony was literally there searching that mountain side for over 5 days.
51:29 🤣 I came expecting an epic tale and it turns out to just be a smoke session from hell
I love it
What a great story the red wings story was all about the fight this was all the after gripping and sad amazing men.
@@BB-wm4ti omg you’re right!!!
Fascinating interview. Redwings is a tragic but super interesting story. Great interview guys 👍
Yeah I do deep dives on it every few years. It’s extremely interesting and I find inspiration in it and bravery every time.
We thank you for your Service and your Sacrifice for our Freedom. God bless America 🇺🇸🙏❤😢.
It's ok to say "payback" was also a priority brother. wasn't there but I know the mindset. Pisses me off just watching this... godspeed
Amry Rangers&the 75th Ranger Regiment are some real badazzes.
In 1975 I was in Co. C - 2/75th when it was on No. Fort Lewis. Rangers Lead the Way...
Thanks for telling your story. Amazing. Thank you for your service.
Great interview, a story that needed to be told.
LOL
lol smart man cuz ur asss was gonna be a leg
I just ordered Tony’s book. Can’t wait to get it. 🇺🇸
I had obar pneumonia during PDT for my second tour and hid it. Coughed blood for the first month. It was singularly the worst month in my life
OMG the brother, I feel bad about that, I had a friend that the same thing happened to, and he was devastated.
DOL/RLTW,,, good luck on the book brother,...🤙🤙🤙 and nothin nerdy about you bro,.. you were a serious operator,,. Stay humble,,.
One can be nerdy and a fierce beast too
Awesome talk. The more perspectives the better.
I don't man we have all these movies and books about Marcus luttrell and his miracle escape but after finding out the other side of Muhammad gulab story and the way he was treated by Marcus I don't know wether I would appreciate or discard his achievement...
Kills me to think about how they perished. Will always remember them the way they were the last time you saw them.... which was years for me.
I’ve heard of stranger danger but I’m overjoyed we as Americans have Ranger Danger on our side.
That would be friggin awesome...😂🍻🍻
i enjoy listening this types of interviews. appreciate it
It's insane to hear that they were qrf, engaged in a recovery mission, then leave it to go on another long patrol.
The Rangers were tired, but volunteered anyway so more props to them.
tf devil tried send in c 2-504 to secure the zone and we was on 3rd tour been all over this place and seals wouldnt do it and waited 2 days so they cover this shit up
You guys asked good questions, got a lot of this conversation
It's funny you look at this guy and think "ah he looks like a nice fellow probably an accountant or computer programmer" and would never think he's done some of the most hardcore shit anybody has ever done or lived through and is legit HERO status lol awesome
I like your pfp 😂
Lessons learned; Re-Supply to Ranger Outpost needs improvement. Intel; needs a faster response back to Rangers at Outpost and Updates of any real-time info while moving/patroling to likely enemy contact. Comms has to be 100% at all times, for any mission. Cas was spot on, A 10's. Did the Rangers bring ropes with their Mountian insertion?
As someone who's been there and done that I can tell you it's generally a cluster fk.
or u can use the elements who are literally right there and offered to help immediatley and have been in the mountains over there several deployments in kunar and pech
