    I absolutely love your videos. I was in the grocery store the other day and the woman in front of me in line had a bottle of wine. She was explaining to the checker that she was a wine novice and asked for any advice. The checker shrugged then they both turned to me for my input. I referred them to The Wine Folly!

    Going ther almost every year and yes it literally is the most beautiful place on earth. Come in September when the grapes are all ripe and most already had their vacation. Wines there are so diverse, so many different grape varieties that I believe everyone will find some they like there. Highly recommend alto adige, great quality and great value go hand in hand. I literally have been to all major wineries there at least once and Elena Walch and Cantina Terlan are my favorite. Greetings from Germany 🤗

    You did a wine deal where you had a brief, best of training for France. I wonder if you could do the same thing for Italy. In fact, if these exact wines were available, I don't think I would be the only one to buy them immediately.

    Kudos Madeline for going beyond Piedmont and Tuscany in your Italian wine appreciation and education. The wines of Alto Adige/Sud Tirol are pretty amazing. Even entry level wines are often higher quality than their counterparts from other regions/countries. I've found some of their white cuvees to be intriguing and fascinating. As for other single variety whites, both Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc from there is quite different from other places; and they do also make CS and Merlot as well

    Brava. I must say that you have been well advised with those three wineries, they are actually among the best in that area and the products you have chosen for the video are among their top. I would add from the Terlano winery their immortal reserves of white wine such as Sauvignon Quartz and Pinot Bianco Vorberg and then one of the best sweet wines in Italy; the precious nectar of the Termeno winery: Tramin, a masterpiece made from dried Gewurtztraminer grapes.

  • @h.hartwig
    @h.hartwig 2 года назад +4

    Worth mentioning that the vinery producing the Nussbaumer Gewürztraminer is located in the town Tramin. And actually the name of the grape variety GewürzTRAMINer stems from exactly this town, as this variety has been popular in the area since the 11th century.

      @@Winefolly Ha. It was one of six bottles (with my Coravin) that night, so yeah, it was pretty great! The grigio was VERY restrained on the nose, but the palate brought chalk, dandelions, and something like grapefruit, with a slightly metallic, medium-length finish. COMPLETELY different from what I'm used to for the varietal, so it was ver intriguing. Anyway, thanks for the Adige tips!

    Nice material and quite a good selection of wines :) I love Südtirol and its wines. I have a cellar full of Lagrein, Gewurztraminer, Goldmuskateller, Kerner and others. I just don't fancy Vernatch. I'd like to highly recommend you Lagrein from Kellerei Meran and Kellerei Bozen. Year 2020 was fantastic for this variety in general and there are a few great picks in the market. Prestige Riserva is my personal favorite. As far as Gewurztraminer is concerned, Nussbaumer is The King, but there are a few high princes: Campaner from Kaltern, Graf from Meran, Ceslar from Bozen, Arenis from Kurtatsch. Have a good fun!

    I appreciate the good pronounciation of the german and italian names! It's actually not that easy.

    • @anonnieman
      @anonnieman 2 года назад

      I don't know where you are from, but speaking both languages and having lived in Italy and still living in Germany, I would not necessarily say that she pronounces them very correctly. That being said, she does her best and for native English speakers the sounds of these languages are difficult to simulate, so I don't think it would offend anyone.

    • @Gisbertus_Voetius
      @Gisbertus_Voetius 2 года назад

      @@anonnieman Das stimmt sicher. Doch für jemanden, der ausschliesslich Englisch spricht (und hinter vorgehaltener Hand: Nordamerikanerin) ist die Aussprache relativ gut. Man hört sehr gut, dass sie einige Zeit in die Aussprache gelegt hat - und das hebe ich hervor.
      Letztendlich geht es ja nur darum, dass man sich versteht. Ob falsch oder richtig ausgesprochen ist mir ehrlich gesagt egal - na gut, ich bin Schweizer und pflege daher sowieso einen etwas lockereren Umgang mit der deutschen Sprache.
      Hab eine gute Woche!

    • @anonnieman
      @anonnieman 2 года назад

      @@Gisbertus_Voetius Da hast du völlig recht. Zu merken, dass Sie ihr bestes versucht und Zeit reingelegt hat, zeigt ein Respekt für die Leute und die Sprache, was nicht immer selbstverständlich ist.
      Du sagst, dass die Schweizer eine lockereren Umgang mit der Aussprache von der Deutschen Sprache haben, aber ich stehe immer Perplex, wenn ich schweizerische Kinder hören, die schon mit einem Alter von 4 Jahren fast perfektes hochdeutsch sprechen, obwohl das quasi eine Fremdsprache für sie ist.
      Viele Grüße von einem Niederländer, mit einer italienischen Freundin, der seit 3 Jahre in Deutschland wohnt und natürlich auch nicht perfekt Deutsch spricht. 😀

    • @Gisbertus_Voetius
      @Gisbertus_Voetius 2 года назад

      @@anonnieman Wow, nicht schlecht! Für nur drei Jahre ist Dein Deutsch aber sehr sehr gut.
      Nur kurz noch zu den Kindern: Das ist ein lustiges Phänomen. Die Kinder lernen die hochdeutsche Aussprache ausschliesslich durch das Fernsehen. Später, wenn sie dann in die Schule kommen, "verlernen" sie die richtige Aussprache wieder (durch Schul-Deutsch) und sprechen dann mit hörbar schweizerischem Akzent. Sachen gibt es :-)
      Nur kurz eine persönliche Frage:
      Wohnst Du an der niederländischen Grenze? Was hälst Du vom Weinbuch, dass winefolly geschrieben hat?

    • @anonnieman
      @anonnieman 2 года назад

      @@Gisbertus_Voetius Danke für das Kompliment :)
      Ach so funktioniert das mit den Kindern. Ich habe ein paar mal auf eine Campingplatz mit Kindern gearbeitet und fand es immer so wunderlich wie gut die hochdeutsch reden.
      Ich wohne in der Tat in der Nähe von der niederländische Grenze. Meine Freundin ist in Deutschland teils aufgewachsen aber ist bevor sie ihre Schule abschaffen könnte mit ihrer Familie zurück nach Italien gezogen. Sie wollte immer noch gerne ihre Schule nachholen und eine Ausbildung anfangen. Ich wollte gerne auf der Uni in die Niederlande gehen, da akademisches Deutsch wirklich anders ist als die Standart Sprache und das niederländische Edukationssystem extrem gut ist. Deshalb haben wir geguckt wo genau wir beiden machen könnten und sind wir gelandet wo wir jetzt wohnen. Leider habe ich also wegen das ich in die Niederlande auf die schule gehe und wegen Corona noch nicht wirklich hier in DE Kontakten knöpfen können.
      Ich habe das Buch nicht gelesen, ich bin auch nicht unbedingt ein Wein connoisseur, aber ich liebe verschiedene Bieren und Whiskys und merke, dass ich mich stets mehr in Wein interessiere, und dann sieht man das auf RUclips vorbeikommen, dann schaut man mal ein Video und dann auf einmal ist der Feed voll von Wein Videos und kann man nicht mehr aufhören sie zu schauen.
