Quite a coincidence that I had the opportunity to visit the Mölders in real life, quite an impressive ships, as well as the museum, definitely worth the be checked out.
Considering that Norway and Germany have been intensifying their military cooperation, especially on the naval side, for decades now - this is certainly an interesting historical "What If" series! :D
Can I say I was really rooting for that Su-24? :D After watching so many Sea Power videos, I think from the player side it became easy to assume the still-work-in-progress A.I. of these planes would just mean they dump their missiles at their designated targets and then maybe head back to a base in case they miraculously survive the player's anti-air assets. But this brave Su-24? First evaded missiles with chaff and flare, then sped away on a new vector on afterburner to avoid another missile, turned BACK AROUND and actively harassed your ASW assets and even brought down a Helo! It kept being a force to be reckoned with and felt a bit more like a "real pilot" than the plane AI in earlier Sea Power videos. Perhaps we are already seeing changes implemented? Good stuff as always!
From Germany: You did very well with your "on the flight" translation, loved the accent ^^ A very nice scenario, indeed, can't wait to see the rest of this series! But who am I kidding, always looking forward to new Sea Power content from you ;)
A Navy Heli as a Marine Heli and a USA Ship with German colors. I smell a warcrime 😄 I missed this mission, will give it a try. Thanks a lot for showing.
Hitting a missile dead on with an cannon seems a bit far fetched to me. Only a weapon system similar to the CWIS should be able to do that. It would make more sense if they were using air burst rounds with proximity fuses.
You do see a lot of "bursts" in the game from canon. CIWS is kind of a shotgun/firehose of bullets trying to get enough in the same space as the missile. The canon seem to do very well at getting aircraft like the A-7. Should do about as well against sub-sonic missiles which is the weak link in the US offensive capability.
That's pretty much what happened, the round was just fired at point-blank range. The naval guns in-game appear to shoot VT rounds when engaging missiles.
The rare occasion when someone can't speak German, yet has no problems to pronounce the "ö" and "ü" in the ships names correctly. Edit: And he knows German after all...like a lot of people from the Netherlands....
Ahh, always nice to hear a dutchman speak german, it's so refreshingly accurate compared to other foreigners struggling with the Ä's, Ö's, and Ü's! :P I only wish I could speak your mother tongue half as well as you do mine! XD Tho I must say, I have the suspicion that you had your fair share of german lessons in school, aye? :D On a more relevant note however, I like that we already have such an expansive and unique repetoire of scenarios to play in this game and such a great way of building our own missions with the scenario editor. I wish more games would put in the effort of offering the players such wealthy opportunities for user-generated content. It's how you keep your game alive forever.
entsclossene Führung does tranlate to determined leadership Herausforderungen = challenges Lage basically translates to our current situation if you need more german translation for the other missions i wouldnt mind to help out
Any particular reason you never do more aggressive course changes? When the ship with the Penguins was approaching range, you just continued your approach vs turning away and utilizing your range advantage.
S-3 had a fairly good passive ESM detection system. Is that evident in the game? I would think S-3 and EA-6 would give good bearing and IDs for anything transmitting a radar. Certainly surface contacts. I'll test it out on my next Hoovers with Harpoons assault.
Lol again dude. Letting the enemy throw the first punch. Why is it that the second he shoots down your helicopter you say "ok I'll take out yours" like why the hell did you not do that already in the first place?? Instead you chose to let him spot and guide missles to your ships. Then after hitting the Kara instead of sending just a couple more harpoon to eliminate the threat you chose to let her be and because of that decision you had her missles flying your way again. All of that could have easily been avoided lol
Herrlich, wie du Deutsch sprichst ❤ 😂
The S-3 pilots just have to use the pedals once fuel runs out. No big deal.
We were accused of making our own fuel at times :)

"Flughansa" that's surprisingly cute
There's blatant TWA and Pan Am knock offs as well, presumably more.
@stealth: Lage = Situation, Herausforderung = Challenge, other than that, I have to say, your german was quite excellent, well done, sir!
Thanks for the tips!

Not knowing a word of German, 'Dank Liver Schnelien' sounds like a truly metal band name.
22:08 That other Harpoon slammed into the Tico and didn't do any damage, maybe due to friendly fire. Nice Content ! Keep Up !!

Germany vs. Norway where have I heard of this before 🤔
Hey Stealth, there's a little mistake in your video title, it's missing a "T" at the end of Wendepunkt.
Greetings from Germany
Thank you. Fixed.

That pilot is the main character in another story.
The S-3 is obviously flying using the crews reserve of schnapps.

That gunner on the minesweeper that shot down the harpoon with a WWII vintage Oerlikon just got shouted the whole damn bar for the rest of his life!

Great video as always Stealth. Look forward to every upload
??????? why did you wait so long to engage that Su-24?

Save the Hoover! (which didn't have any chaff/flares in the A model)
45:28 I can hear the gears grinding in Stealth's head. Holy German, Batman.

Thanks! I had German for 6 years in high school
Anymore sneaky bastards coming up?
Wouldn't know, they are sneaky 😭😂😂😂
finally took you long enough to release this
Great Content as always.
Good work with german forces hehe.
the other scenarios from this much harder ;)
Are the Lutjens-class in the base game - or are the a mod of the American Adams-class?
Is this the newest version of sea power?
entsclossene Führung does tranlate to determined leadership
Herausforderungen = challenges

Great video..
Jawohl Herr Kaleu 🎉
I noticed that S-3 planes have some trouble dropping the sonobuoys if you go above x3 time compression lol, so thats probably why it was being wonky
entschlossen means determined, Herausforderung challenge.

probably because of unclear rules of engagement he was trying to follow
Probably the weirdest scenario story yet. Socialist revolution in one of the world's happiest countries?
Why is your german this good?
Stealth is from the Netherlands. Dutch is close on pronunciation to German, and I assume he must have learned it at some point.
I had German for 6 years in high school. Dutch is also quite close to German
