SERIOUSLY!!! people criticize a world top rider??? How weird thinking they know more?? HUH??? You are just jealous and do not deserve this woman's video!!!!
I don't get why people are complaining about the speed of the approach. In the "rule book" it says a horse can jump 3'3 at a trot. So I personally think there is nothing wrong with this.
I don't understand all these people saying that her horses approach is too slow. Listen to what she is saying....the horse is "flat" and sometimes "lazy". The whole point of the exercise is to improve this. Why would she use a horse who already has impulsion when showing an exercise to increase impulsion. Pointless if you ask me. Laura Renwick is an international showjumper therefore she must be doing something right.... irritates me when people crit Olympic riders who are clearly highly experienced. When you ride in the Olympics, your opinions will then be taken into consideration!!
My horse has been knocking over a lot of fences lately, jumping verry flat. I think this (but lower because our average height is 50cm) is gonna help us out a lot
Does anyone know what the surface of this arena is? It looks incredible, but the only time I've seen it before is on an indoor arena, and I didn't think it was weatherproof.
+Gemma Kroon Silica sand with rubber chips. Silica sand can be used indoor and out but if you want good drainage and for it to stay in the arena when it's windy you need rubber chips in it
im very supprised by that rider, his 2 point is amazing and so was his other point. i tried a jump like that last week and i didnt keep on the right stride after the medium jump. how dose he do it with enough momentim?
Hi I'm a rider and I'm about to start riding again after having a bad injury after falling of I was wondering if you could do a video about keeping calm and safe while riding
Breathe, dont do anything your not comftorble with , dont worry because that will make it more likely that you falll, and just trust you and your horsee
Sit tall and push your heels down, horses can sense if your nervous and I know some (Cough cough mine!) will use it to their advantage. I recently had a nasty fall jumping and I broke both arms and my collar bone in 2 places, I got back on, and just walked and trotted now I'm ok with riding again. Take it slow and don't do anything out of your comfort zone.
If he wasnt slow going in he wouldve never made it out without a rail down or a bad last jump the horse collects his canter perfectly props to the rider aswell thats a hard exercise
As she said in the footage, it does actually. He is a very experienced horse so therefor he is used to it, yes he may have made a mistake that was uncalled for at any moment, but he will complete the task more effectively and better than a 13.2hh junior jumper, just saying.✋
Nicola Beattie well yes no young 5 year old culd do that easily but it could still do it is my point. having an experianced one is helpful but a young one still could.
I think she meant not to interfere with the horse, the riders job is to present the horse correctly to the jump but the horses job to jump when it gets there.
Jamie Blanchard Oh! Well if I was an instructor I wouldn't explain it like that. My instructor always says "Don't be a passenger!" But thanks for explaining.
Persephone P I agree , i always tell my clients they are the pilot not the passenger, also agree with your legs giving confidence. In this case it's an exercise for the horse to work out for it's self, with out help or interference from the rider. In my opinion the only job we ever give the horse is the actual jump, every thing else is down to us, the approach, take off, line, rhythm, but the horses job is to jump when it gets there. Having said that, alot of top riders train and ride differently and are successful, i think some times it's best to chose what advice is best for you and your horse. x
Jamie Blanchard I can hardly believe you would all be so ballsy to criticize when a world class rider shares her tricks!!! How RUDE!! And you compare yourself and your thinking with hers??? So weird! Unless u r a world top equestrian like her. Otherwise shut up! If I was this woman I would not share with you again! Piss on you! "know it all"
yes and no. When riding young you're told to release bigger so you don't pop the horse in the mouth but as you gain more experience your trainer should take you down the neck to a crest release and eventually to a soft, shoulder release. Just enough rein so the horse can have his head and neck to jump. If that makes any sense lol.
Depends on the horse really. One of my horses (one in the profile picture) needs a lot of release because he isn’t very confident but my other horse doesn’t NEED release but I do sometimes give release if they’re bigger. Horses do sometimes jump better if you leave them to it. This horse doesn’t look like it needs a lot of release
Wonder why she doesn't comment on the lack of quality in the canter approach coming in. No way would I accept that from my horses, no engagement at all.
“He has to make a effort there” wow u dont say this horse is lazy yes but when u do a high jump into a low they are normally aloud a stride to regain there footing this horse isnt getting that at all (these are my experiences with horses if you’ve been riding for under 11 yrs dont come at me)
Laura Renwick is a world famous, extremely talented rider, competing internationally at a very high level. She's obviously doing something right. I'm going to take a guess and assume she knows exactly what she's doing.
Dont worry i dont train there anymore.. Look guys, in my language canter is gallop, and gallop is gallop, so i made a mistake get over it, its not such a big deal okay. Chill people
this rider is horrible! not to be rude but he is comeing at the jumps way to slow. hes also pulling on his horses mouth! i feel bad for that poor horse! this guy sucks!
I ‘love’ the fact the horse is so calm and focused on the approach and pops over so easily.. I’m going to try this with my horse. Thank you!
SERIOUSLY!!! people criticize a world top rider??? How weird thinking they know more?? HUH??? You are just jealous and do not deserve this woman's video!!!!
Say it louder for the people in the back 😂
I don't get why people are complaining about the speed of the approach. In the "rule book" it says a horse can jump 3'3 at a trot. So I personally think there is nothing wrong with this.
I loved my lesson with Laura, she was such a good teacher! She told me exactly how to fix the problems I was having when I was jumping!
I don't understand all these people saying that her horses approach is too slow. Listen to what she is saying....the horse is "flat" and sometimes "lazy". STEANDC13 um...I don’t understand what side you are on from this.
Lol you should listen because she explains what and why
Nice jump training we need more ... thanks .
I'm glad the horse is being treated nicely.
The rider is amazing his flexibility and smooth movements so remarkable 😍
Anybody else admiring that glorious footing all over that area?
I really enjoyed that video thank u very much that helped a lot! 🚼
Who would give this a thumbs down???
Haters.
5:00 that footing omg
Ponyef what while going over it? The scope?
hannah duke showjumping no omg 🤦🏻♀️
hannah duke showjumping the footing (the dirt) looks so soft 😍
My horse has been knocking over a lot of fences lately, jumping verry flat. I think this (but lower because our average height is 50cm) is gonna help us out a lot
Don't say mean things these people take their time to do this video BTW I love horses 🐴
Does anyone know what the surface of this arena is? It looks incredible, but the only time I've seen it before is on an indoor arena, and I didn't think it was weatherproof.
I'm not sure what it is called but the arena I use has a surface very similar and it is beautiful to ride on.
+Gemma Kroon i think it might be a clay mix?
+Gemma Kroon Silica sand with rubber chips. Silica sand can be used indoor and out but if you want good drainage and for it to stay in the arena when it's windy you need rubber chips in it
sand
wow nice footing
The length of the horse determines the space between a bounce bigger horse bigger bounce. Usually it is the length from croup to poll.
Caity Graham 4uip9op9u
How far between the jumps?
how do I see the perfect distance tp a jump?
im very supprised by that rider, his 2 point is amazing and so was his other point. i tried a jump like that last week and i didnt keep on the right stride after the medium jump. how dose he do it with enough momentim?
This excercise and cavaletti too.

Pretty Nice .. Thanks Laura :)
Thanks
If he wasnt slow going in he wouldve never made it out without a rail down or a bad last jump the horse collects his canter perfectly props to the rider aswell thats a hard exercise
But her horses are a bit mpre experienced
The experience of the horse has nothing to do with how he goes into the exercise :)
As she said in the footage, it does actually. He is a very experienced horse so therefor he is used to it, yes he may have made a mistake that was uncalled for at any moment, but he will complete the task more effectively and better than a 13.2hh junior jumper, just saying.✋

Hello
When you rode at Liverpool in Dec 30th 2017 i saw you and didn't you fall off on the 3rd or 7th jump? But i'm trying this exersise with my pony :D
هل يوجد.تمرين كافاليتي
Wow that's impressive
I live in henderson
Didn’t ask
what is the distance between the three obstacles
It's a bounce so it's probably 4 human steps....2 for landing 2 for take off so they have to land in the middle and jump straight off 😊
+leigh xxdutch is that you in the profile pic?! incredible! 😍
yes thank you but it was all him... he's a goody :) theres a video on my page... :) xxx
HELPFUL!!!
hi
so good mis.
tanx .
you are nice learner
what stable is this?
I'd like to jump Horse &Riding Horse .. Thank you. .
What?
more slow mo s would be helpfull, ty
Michelle coutois I agree it's totally lazy and effortless
My pony would be so bloody confused at how to jump and it and would probably trip over it
The horse is not actually jumping the third elements because he land with his front before the hind feet have left the ground
Be a passenger. Never heard that one before. Passengers don't care what is happening, riders squeeze their leg to give the horse confidence.
I think she meant not to interfere with the horse, the riders job is to present the horse correctly to the jump but the horses job to jump when it gets there.
Jamie Blanchard
Oh! Well if I was an instructor I wouldn't explain it like that. My instructor always says "Don't be a passenger!" But thanks for explaining.

Unless u r a world top equestrian like her. Otherwise shut up! If I was this woman I would not share with you again! Piss on you! "know it all"
Terry Lenore She's not being rude! You are being rude! Also, shes not CRITICIZING shes just saying she doesn't agree as much. Just shut up please!
For a youngster use a cross rail please
Charles Kiley and lizard i have a 4 year old who’s clearing 1.15 spreads with ease. Not all youngsters need basics.
Aren't you supposed to give a bigger release than that this rider isn't giving much of a release
Yes. You're not supposed to have your hands in your crotch.
+Bridget Carta haha exactly it looks like he's hitting him self
In hunters yeah not show jumping show jumping horses are more high strung
yes and no. When riding young you're told to release bigger so you don't pop the horse in the mouth but as you gain more experience your trainer should take you down the neck to a crest release and eventually to a soft, shoulder release. my name is laura
Nothing brings out a know it all like a horse in training
He kept swiching leads
You have to sit in between on a bounce. Also the rider is never just a passenger.
Lssk
That saddle when going over the jumps is lifting to far up from the back ugh feels so sorry for it’s back
No no no
Wonder why she doesn't comment on the lack of quality in the canter approach coming in. No way would I accept that from my horses, no engagement at all.
Yeah, he looks like one of the 20-year-old lesson horses we have at the stable where I ride. Lazy and bored with the whole jumping thing.
That's. The point. Of this exercise.
THE EXERCISE IS FOR THAT. My god
Michelle Coutois that's what the exercise was for... was you listening?!...
Nice footing tiny bit more relse to move
“He has to make a effort there” wow u dont say this horse is lazy yes but when u do a high jump into a low they are normally aloud a stride to regain there footing this horse isnt getting that at all (these are my experiences with horses if you’ve been riding for under 11 yrs dont come at me)
Laura Renwick is a world famous, extremely talented rider, competing internationally at a very high level. She's obviously doing something right. I'm going to take a guess and assume she knows exactly what she's doing.
That_Cob_Chloe yea like i get that but that horse is very uncomfortable im not sayin she isnt good at what she does i just wouldnt do that
Clancey and Copycat how do you know the horse is uncomfortable I don’t think it is it’s doing a great job and he clearly likes what he does
this horse have a realy strange gallop... looks a bit lame
It's a CANTER not a gallop and horses can NEVER gallop in a school !!!!!!!!
Aaaa i dont care right now.. I made a mistake wow... :P big deal... And in my school we can ;)
We do gallop in the field haha...
Lea Kosec then your school obviously doesn't care about the horses.
That is the correct speed for training and especially going into bounces. Any faster and the horse may attempt to jump multiple jumps at once.
