When I played the first edition, someone could literally just sit in one place and gather cards to complete postcards. Getting rid of them forces you to move around and explore, accomplishing the goal of the game which is to “trek”.
Great video, as always. I picked up the 2nd edition recently and my wife also very much enjoys it. All the videos I had looked up when researching the game were of the first editions, so I was a little confused by why the airports and post cards were missing. That said I do like the balance and decision making of wheter to prioritize going for park cards, going for "gems", or going for special player powers The player card draft gives the game a Ticket to Ride vibe and has been a great substitute when Ticket to Ride begins feeling tedious. Plus my wife really like the theme of visiting national parks.
Bought 2nd edition and my wife and I thoroughly enjoy it.
Thanks for the excellent comparison. My wife and I both enjoy the 2nd edition a lot. It gets a lot of plays.

Such a shame that they used plastic tokens in the second version
Is it possible to use the post cards from the 1st edition in the 2nd edition?
If I had them, I would use them!
