Brilliant film from a time when Britain was optimistic and believed in itself, the sense of achievement comes across very well, contrast that with today and Britain’s self inflicted identity crisis.

Nonsense. The plant became financially unviable in the last couple of decades because China produces steel cheaper and British workers demand higher wages than their Chinese counterparts. It simple really.

You have turned optimism, pride and believing into arrogance, nationalism and exceptionalism during the next five decades.
I'm a Dutchie, I cried out of pride and in awe of our neighbours during the opening ceremony of the Olympics in 2012. I was simply struck by the perfect picture that demonstrated your culture and history.
But Brexit painfully made clear that in reality, the UK is still a snobbish and elitist feudal monarchy.
Led by the elite, trained to look down on anything foreign, and unable to see the nations decline before your own eyes.
I'm sad how far the UK has fallen since these times...and to be honest I don't think I'll see it's rise again in my lifetime.
I wish every Brit the wisdom and power to make sure to enforce drastic changes in their democratic future. You deserve better than these lords and Eton kids to feast on your nation's wealth.

@@Snaakie83 yes, I agree and change is happening but slowly here, maybe a few million more disillusioned people might speed the process up.
