I live in New York state. In the past I did a long multi-state driving trip to visit many amusement parks.
One trip took me to Six Flags New Orleans!! I was mesmerized by MegaZeph so I parked across from the coaster outside of the park along the main highway.
MegaZeph was running two trains and I took many photos before I entered the park.
But when I entered the park, MegaZeph was closed! I was shocked!!!
I rode all of the other coasters. MegaZeph was still closed. So I had to lunch at one of the park’s restaurants. Being in New Orleans, Six Flags New Orleans had unique menu items, including Jambalaya rice with sausage. It was amazing-nothing like any other Six Flags park!!!
Suddenly I saw MegaZeph running!!! But only with one train. I ran to MegaZeph!!
I only got ONE ride on MegaZeph before the park closed. But WOW!! What a powerful experience it was! Incredible speed and tremendous moments of airtime!! And the circuit was long!!!
How sad that Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. So many people died and those that survived lost their homes. Katrina killer Six Flags New Orleans. This powerful hurricane changed everything in the New Orleans area.
I’m sad that Six Flags New Orleans is gone. It wasn’t a huge park, but it was so beautiful and unique.
I’m grateful that I visited this park. I’m grateful that I experienced at least ONE ride on MegaZeph. It was a powerful coaster and I will never forget it.

I’m grateful people like you share their stories about this park - it reminds me of how Boblo Island closed in the detroit area and has still left its mark 31 years later, and its wild to think about six flags new orleans and what could have been. Mega Zeph looked SO GOOD!!!
