  • I officially give up on Ohio for finding gobblers. With the help of a friend from buzzard roost saddles, I was pointed in the right direction to start and the chase was on! I wish I had a few more days left in PA to get it done, but I'm so grateful to experience the outdoors to the extent that I do!
    Until next year!

It’s tough hunting a new location, especially on your own.

I follow The Hunting Public and learned something that has gotten me two Toms and another I should have gotten but, he spooked when he saw me moving trying to swing my gun around for a shot.
Dont call to them from a distance, especially if they are gobbling on their own. Using the terrain, slip in as close as you can, without them seeing you . Dont call......giving away your position....until you are set up for the shot. Then just give some subtle calls....a couple clucks, maybe a purr.....Usually they will gobble back. Do that a time or two, then stop calling . It may take 15 to 20 mins.....but they come in quiet, wondering where the hen went.
Good luck to you. You definitely put in the time and effort

    Katlyn,
. I get in place a half hour before first light. But then I know where they are roosted.
There are some issues with your calling. you go through a whole routine when you need to just do a few clucks. when you call. I rarely even cluck its mostly just puts. Your calling is off pitch a bit. Maybe use a box call until you get it down. Best thing I recommend is to get some live turkey recordings and mimic them.
Your calling progression once you get the pitch right is fantastic, just too much at once.
I love your videos and subscribed. I hunt Maryland- mostly far western Maryland. You are so close to getting a turkey;, and you clearly love the outdoors. I sometimes go a year without getting a turkey, its great to get out though. /thanks for bringing me back out in the turkey woods for a few minutes from my desk!!!

Wow you're brave hunting by yourself out of state. I'm from Ohio as well 18:06 and hunt public land in PA for15 plus year. Look like same general area. Would love to call in your first bird 🐦

I hope someday you have about 5 or 6 kids and they grow up to be just like you. Your parents should win an award for raising such an amazing young lady. Take my $

I’ve never experienced public land and finally getting to scouting a piece near where I live is so cool.
Deer season opens for me Oct 1st so hoping to have it down by then and harvest a deer on public land. Fingers crossed.
I’m slowly teaching myself to hunt Ive done a bit of it on private land that I leased last year but public seems to be a whole different set of things to learn on top of learning how to use a saddle set up.
    Great video .

Love your videos! Don't beat yourself up, this is how my season went too...I think the turkey population has dropped significantly here in Ohio in the past couple years
