I ate figs in Malta/Gozo that were as big as tennis balls. It was the best fig I've ever had and I grew up on Turkey figs. Well I watered and fertilized all my greens and alliums today. Thanks for the tip I'll try to stay on top of the watering now. I don't throw away the cheap cell trays , I use them until they fall apart. I'd love to have the ones that last a long time.
All I want for Christmas if I could, would be a Hoss Tool two wheel cultivator and seeder. But It's not in Santa's budget this year and may never be. For me it's more important to make Christmas great for my children and Grandson, rather than me. For the true reason for Christmas, is the giving and not the receiving. I do hope you both have a very Merry Christmas with your family and friends. Please take care, and God Bless you and yours.
Audio is much better this week and zooming in tighter better also. I have plenty of starter stuff, but going to get the hint out for the small kit as a present because I love the micro greens idea inside. Looks like just the manageable size I need for that.
Hard to believe but it was colder here in North Florida than where you are... really hard to believe. Not just my thermometer, but a bunch of weather stations near me read 28... Cold for us!
If you want additional seed starting trays, bottom trays, domes, etc can you get them? I have the "original" seed starting kit with 162 tray. I'd like to get the new big bottom & dome.
If you bought the original seed starting kit, give us a call and we can get you a tray to go with it. The dome won't fit the 162 tray you have. The dome only works for those new, smaller trays we just added.
Two questions: I never see you guys using the plow attachment to actually turn over the soil or turn under small cover crops. The second is I never see any fences around your gardens. If I didn’t have a fence I would be stripped bare. Thanks much, enjoy the show.
1) Our plow attachment isn't designed to "turn over" the soil like a traditional bottom plow on a tractor. It's simply an attachment for hilling or making a furrow for planting/burying drip tape. 2) Greg has a fence around his garden. I don't because mine is surrounded by hundreds of acres of commercial farmland so there's really no need.
Another fine video fellas.... the sound and lighting it spot on this time... Travis .... way better without the sunglasses... yall got it sorted like I knew you would... really loving the deluxe seed starting kit... gotta get me one
What a great great show!!! Super fine new products! As for the shades heck wearem’ you look necked without them. After all you’re the ZZ Top of gardening.... a sharped dress farmer!!! Just love you guys & your products, your info & your commitment to quality. Thanks
Any plans to sell the starting trays separate from the kits? I like the humidity domes and the trays and inserts, but I don't need the wood labels or the soil.
If we did sell them alone, they would cost about the same. The soil and labels don't add much to the overall cost, it's just an added value we like to include to make it complete.
Bren C we bought 5 of the Premium (162 cells per tray) trays and the under-trays. These things are awesome! We were so impressed that we shot a video about them that will play on our channel Tomorrow December 5.
Nice job guys! The changes you made to the studio really helped your audio quality! Depending on what kind of sound panels you have ordered, you can mount the panel a little way off the wall and it will help diffuse and absorb sound better. We got the 162 cell trays a few days ago. They are awesome! We are impressed enough to post a video tomorrow morning on our channel. Have an awesome weekend!
As always great show I wish they have 5 thumbs up above for all your video's …..I like when both of you eat on show.....When you do explain how it taste if you can I always had a garden but not that big since 1969...Next year very big on can't wait
One of my granddaddy's had a fig tree, the other a persimmon (they both were gardeners feeding their family). I miss the fresh figs and persimmons. I just am not sure here in 6B if the figs would be happy enough. I am going to plant some PawPaws. I have never had one, but my hubby grew up eating them from wild trees down on the creek across the road. We might have to go ahead and try some figs at the least.
Surprisingly, we've found that many folks up north grow fig trees in patio pots. Yes, they don't get quite as big as they do down here, but you can still harvest some nice figs and just bring the plants inside when it gets too cold.
Greg, Should you suffer that pigweed extinction you're worried about, I would be willing to spot you some. I've got the prettiest strain of Red Rooted Pigweed you've ever seen! You guys are onto something with these kits! These will be wildly popular! Studio is looking and sounding great! I really like that big table so you can display product, produce etc. I'm a little worried about Greg though, he hasn't eaten anything in a couple of weeks except a bite of fig in this episode. Good luck to your Dawgs, my Tide couldn't do anything with LSU. I guess since everybody has thrown the dirt on us and buried us for good, I'll be pulling for UGA tomorrow. Heck, Bama will probably just discontinue football altogether, maybe put that money into Lacrosse or some such.
Greg isn't starving. I can promise you that. We'll keep you in mind if we ever have a pigweed shortage. And I'll be on the lookout for that Bama lacrosse team. Go Dawgs!
Size of the height and footprint of the bottom tray in the deluxe kit? (Not on the web site, just has the size of the seed starting (cell) trays. I need the size of the overall footprint + height. Thanks!
Sitting here eating some mustard's I harvested about 3 hours ago... watching you guys. Looking forward to some cooking video's... OK... I'm done 3's my limit. :)
Michael Morris we just popped this one up while eating some turkey casserole. Our greenhouse greens are doing great here in Northern Arizona. 60 salads and counting ...
We sell the larger 162 trays without the seed starting mix, labels, etc. But we won't be selling these new kits without those items. To be honest, those items are simply added bonus items and don't affect the price much. So if we did sell the trays individually, it would likely be the same price.
Thanks guys, I’m definitely getting some of the sturdy seed starting stuff. I hate single use disposable jiffy junk. Travis, buddy, don’t you know by now you can’t getting cocky in the SEC. I didn’t watch the video until Sunday night and I just cringed. Football is like gardening, hope for the best but never take for granted how things look one day because there is always the chance of disaster. Don’t count your chickens before the game even begins. Having said all that: WARRRR EAGLE!!!! Pay back is rough. 🤣🤣🤣
I always thought biochar was great. Sure, aline, it will burn your vegetation or whatever type of produce you're trying to gor, but, given time over a full season , all losing chemical reactions to take place with the elements of nature, it will shoot out your produce crops with vengeance. Talk about a hefty crop production! However, I do believe, when mixed with a good, quality compost, it works better because you don't have to wait for regeneration from burned crop plots. In other words, its a tool used to produce topsoil for the land.
I wish I knew what the traditional variety is called that my grandmother use to grow. Back then it was the only one available. But no one seems to know what they are called. Would yall know the name of them?
Here's a link to an asparagus planting video Greg did way back when: ruclips.net/video/5QPyPLrhAow/видео.html Elderberries are in pots in the greenhouse looking good. We need to put them in the ground outside, just haven't figured out where we want to put them yet.
Travis that shirt hurt my eyes so much I had to put my sunglasses on! Amazingly, the shirt turned purple and read Geaux Tigers. I don’t think you’ll want to wear it next week.
Much better sound this week.
Thanks Michael!
Better luck next year Travis!
As a Dawgs fan, we're very used to saying that.
Great show thanks. Audio is much better than last week
Thanks Marinus! We've got some acoustic panels coming as well so it should get even better!
I love all the new stuff

You won't ever have to worry about these falling part. And those figs sound absolutely delicious!

Thanks! Glad to hear that!
Love that shirt, Travis. #HBTFD!

Thanks Robin! Those microgreens are a great little treat! Hopefully Santa comes through for you!
Hoss Tools yup got them so micro greens inside will get started this weekend.
Audio and lighting is much better now👍
Thanks DJ. Audio should be even better next week!
great show! keep it up
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
I bought some kits this year from you just because they were sturdier than anything I’d ever seen before!!!
Thanks for giving us a shot!
I Do..but the audio is always great....
Thanks. We're always trying to listen to viewers and do things to make it better.
Hard to believe but it was colder here in North Florida than where you are... really hard to believe. Not just my thermometer, but a bunch of weather stations near me read 28... Cold for us!
Hard to believe. Hopefully we can stay out of the 20s for a couple more weeks.
Imma wait live in Louisiana. Cant wait.
Us neither!
Your Delux set looks big enough so you could grow leaf lettuce in a sunny window still all winter !
You sure could!
37 to 10
It wasn't pretty.
Thank you for the info
Thanks for watching!
I am playing catch up with all your videos! Love them. When will you get your bottom trays back in?
Going to be several months because they are made in England and have to get here via container ship.
Sound was great!
Thanks Stephen!
If you want additional seed starting trays, bottom trays, domes, etc can you get them? I have the "original" seed starting kit with 162 tray. I'd like to get the new big bottom & dome.
Tami Ziglar we just got our 162s and bottom trays. The bottom tray is just as tough at the 162 cell tray itself. You won’t be disappointed!

Cog Squaddin!!!!👍

One thing we don't have to do is water through the autumn and winter its hardly stopped raining since September.
Well in that case, no you don't. We haven't been getting that much rain here. And when we do, it's only a few tenths.

LOL desktop with speakers.. yes I'm a dinosaur too ;-)

You need to get a purple and gold cape for your "dawg gone " cat!
Haha. That was a pitiful game.
im with you! on the shades. I work out side so they are always on. its the only eyes you have for life.! Protect them, protect your skin.
Yes indeed. Gotta keep those eyes strong!
Can I grow different seedlings in each tray? Like tomatoes and eggplant and lettuce in one tray?? I can’t think of why I couldn’t??
Oh yeah! I probably wouldn't grow lettuce with other things because it spreads and would outcompete for space. But anything else mixed should be fine.
@@gardeningwithhoss you guys are the best!!!

tails tucked running home to momma. LoL. No harm brother just a game. but LSU......
Not our best attempt by far. Congrats to the bayou bengals.

Glad we got it fixed for you.

If growing inside should we sterilize the soil to get rid of mites?
The seed starting mix is we sell is sterile.

Dawgs need to focus on Bears now and Tigers on Sooners. Geaux Tigers!
Dawgs need a rebound for sure!
I'm not seeing the smaller seed starter tray on your site.
Right here: hosstools.com/product/24-cell-seed-starting-kit/
I am using your cell trays to bow seeds, the seedlings grow to about an inch and do not develop further, can I have your advise?
Sounds like they need fertilizing. Once true leaves form, we fertilize with 20-20-20 twice a week.
Of y'all run out of pig weed don't worry about losing your seed I have plenty
