The 2024 version definitely has a yellowish tint to it and even though you never show the screens with just brightness all the way up on both units you can still see the yellowish hugh. It's not the lights but the screen itself. If you turn both up to full brightness the difference is obvious. The older one looks like you are reading a new newspaper and the 2024 looks like you're reading an old newspaper that's been in your garage for several months. I did not like having warmth added to the screen when I am not adding warmth. I want as close to a white paper look as possible. I sent mine back after complaining to customer service about this unnecessary change and I suspect that most people who have an older version and do a comparison between the two will send the new one back.
Interesting. When I was reading today with no brightness and no warmth, I didn’t notice a yellow tint. Other posts in Reddit can somewhat see a green/blue tint. This makes me think quality control might be the culprit or maybe the new screen tech just hasn’t adjusted to our eyes?
@@mere24601 I have looked at several videos and picture comparisons and they all show that yellowish tint. I had no lighting on but direct sunlight with only a book cover showing and there was a definite yellow tint in the image on the new. The older Paperwhite looked like a black and white newspaper. If RUclips would allow pictures I would show you how stark a contrast the two are when you have brightness on.
That's a shame, because I really liked how white the Paperwhite 2021's screen was. Which I never thought made sense to change since there is a warmth control.
You should not look for better contrast with light on: it will mask the e-ink dark and light chemical compounds. Better turn off screen light and compare them with reflected light (best is daylight, not artificial). Even little differences in contrast can be beneficial to eyes fatiguing or easiness when reading, e-ink has very little contrast ration unfortunately (160:1 roughly) Since I have 2021 unit and this Sunday I will receive the new version I will share my own impressions: I have a visual impairment so tiny little differences are important to me 🤓
@@mere24601 I definitely see a (tiny) improvement in Paperwhite 2024 contrast with respect to the 2021 version. I have both now. But still the best contrast I see, as subjective as I can be without formal measurements is the “humble” basic kindle (2022 version). The fact that has no added protection screen to the glass, allows to see better the ink.
Good job comparing! Thank you for such a detailed look and comparison. I ordered the Colorsoft version and am thinking about getting the basic to throw in my tote. Not sure if you plan to grow your channel, but I went ahead and subbed.
So the back is not covered in rubber anymore? If yes that on its own would be a reason to upgrade for me. Plus I find the colour of the screen much nicer now and contrast better. I just simply can't justify myself buying this when I have Paperwhite 5. It's just so similar :D
Introducing All-New Amazon Plant-Based Leather Case- Lightweight, Protective Cover Designed with Sustainability in Mind for All-new Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition I think they have it hidden as an add on when you buy the paperwhite.

Putting the Kindles in the wrong case was a great way to compare the slight size difference.
They pulled an apple and slightly changed the dimensions just enough to make you buy a new case with the new pw. -_-
This is SO not worth an update if you have the 2021 version.
I just don’t see any earth shattering changes from the 11 that would make me want to buy the 12 except the pink color
Totally agree. I’d recommend to mostly everyone to wait until your pw11 absolutely needs an upgrade or if there is an amazing deal on the new ones.

No problemo!
The new device is so fast.
With a 2024 Kindle Fire, an iPad Pro, new iPad mini coming, can’t see the point of upgrading.

Have the paperwhite 2021 and the basic kindle 2022,so no point in wasting money on what’s just a refreshed device .
Totally.

So both backs are plastic. The old pw back is more rubbery though. The new pw is smooth and softer plastic. If that makes sense.
That metallic-look plastic is only on signature edition, regular edition has the same rubber texture as before.
@@tavusion that’s unfortunate. I guess Amazon has to keep the better stuff for the more expensive models.
@@tavusion that metallic look plastic is the same material as the regular Paperwhite. Still a rubbery plastic but with a metallic coloring.
Do you have a link for the pink case? I can't find it anywhere on amazon

这里有一个巨大的失误,就是没有关闭灯光,只有在关闭灯光的情况下,才能发现屏幕有哪些更新。
