There is no one like him in human history. He makes you forget about everything and draws you into his world. In my opinion, he is the best storyteller ever.

This was a full dress rehearsal for the first live concert to be beamed around the world to 40 countries, via satellite, as the technicians had to get it all sorted out perfectly for the concert. Only Elvis was a big enough name worldwide in 1973 to do this first country, & the concert was seen by up to 1.5 Billion people globally. I watched the concert in New Zealand, as it was happening Live in Hawaii. The whole concert & this full dress rehearsal was Amazing, I think there were approx 2000 people attending this rehearsal for a donation at the door.

The most charismatic singer entertainer and humanitarian ever.. No one today can match his brilliance !!! Love this version of the song ☺ And so many great songs from this Aloha concert in 1973..

A great song to react to in the 1973 Aloha from Hawaii Live Concert (rather than this dress rehearsal), is An American Trilogy. Elvis was a Baritone, but he had a unique vocal range which could dip down into the upper Base range & go right up into the Tenor range. In his 1960 song It’s Now or Never, which he recorded when he returned to America after two years in the army in West Germany, Elvis trained himself to reach the required opera note right at the end of the song. He was told he would never be able to reach it, but he did, & It’s Now or Never became his top selling song worldwide.

Jane H …… Elvis had been asked to raise $25,000 to build a dedicated cancer ward at the Honolulu hospital. He paid $1000 for a ticket to his own concert, & ended up raising a great deal more than he had been asked to. Hawaii was Elvis’ favourite place to relax & he spent many vacations there, as the local people would never bother him, & allowed him & his family & entourage to enjoy themselves. Enjoying your Elvis Reactions. You can never go wrong with Elvis, & he still has a huge fan-base worldwide, 47 years after his passing …. & he thought he would soon be forgotten.

Late at night at a gas station, I think in 1975, a lady asked Elvis what he had stuck under his jacket. He said, a gun. She asked what would happen if it went off accidentally. Elvis replied he’d then have to sing as a tenor. 😂

One of his best concert songs; this one from "Aloha...". Elvis' vocal range was in the 3 octave area-baritone to tenor was his wheelhouse, but he Could go to bass; he rarely did, though.

There's over 700 songs he recorded so take your pick. Here's a few, Fairy Tale from 1977, I'm so lonesome I could cry from 1973 Hawaiian concert, How the web was woven, Green ,green grass of home, You've lost that loving feeling from 1972 LAs Vegas concert. Too many to name at one time.

Ive seen this performance hundreds of times over the years and it still gives me chills watching it.
This is why i prefer the rehearsal more than the main show.
The camera angles in the main show are not good, missing the highlights of these great songs like 'Trilogy'.

For me this performance from this rehearsal concert is better than the live one. I also liked his hair before he got it cut. I just found you & I left a comment on "If I Can Dream" with background info about the song. Someone below requested the live "How Great Thou Art" -- the exact title is "ELVIS PRESLEY - How Great Thou Art (1972) 4K" & the channel is "Fabrica XXI" for the best quality version.

He’s definitely the greatest ever, in so many categories. I’ve never compared his rehearsal performance of this song, side by side with the main one.
I do think the, “American Trilogy” broadcast performance is better than the rehearsal one. Also, after seeing tape of the rehearsal, he felt, and got a haircut in between the two concerts.
    Thank you for sharing!

A wise singer holds back until the time is emotionally right to put your all into a song. Elvis proved that here. It's about the song, not about you. Most of these Divas today just go full fledge show off "look what I can do" with no real emotional interpretation or variety in delivery. Then it become noise and glitter, and not music. Only reactor are finding out the difference, the other just accept it as music based on a media driven preconceived notion what music is...the sound of the cash register. no orchestras used anymore, putting millions of good musicians out of work.

This rehearsal is not nearly as good as the actual live performance. whoever recommended this version must like to see the swollen faced Elvis coming off of 2 days of prescription downers. the live performance shows a well rested Elvis and his performance is heads above this one.
