If you dislike the edit you misunderstand how Theo mixes, this edit is obviously made for his style of isolating eq and focusing on certain aspects of the music as he sees fit.
As a genuine Detroit fan in general i've followed Theo Parrish's work (as a producer and DJ) with great respect since '93, and personally, as a heavy collector and specialist in what is generally categorized "original 70's black music vinyl" can honestly say that he has not improved Minnie Riperton's original in any way whatsoever, imho. I know the power of a good edit and it's ability to streamline a song into a linear dancing machine of funky proportions, Disco and House music are in my blood
im sure he'd tell you himself that he's not out to improve the song , i'd guess that he's making a version for himself , & adjusting the pace and dynamics make it more suitable to play alongside more modern, weightier dance music ie house + techno
