I took it as magic lessons. Albus has trouble with it at the start, but everyone else is having fun.

I think it's conceptionalised as musical theatre without being musical theatre. Sort of a revue-like theatre play or something like that.
You need to have some crazy ensemble choreography in it. So, why not do it with wands that run amok and drag their inexperienced owners around. Also adds the necessary amount of comic relief that you need. Not a bad idea. But do I want to spend money for it? Naaa, probably not.
