Wow, I used to ride this route every day for almost ten years, and yes, in snow and rain. Often leaving work in Newcastle at midnight and riding home to Rowlands Gill. Only ever got a fright once because I hit a fork in the path. simply because there wasn't a fork there ever. 😂

what sort of nugget actually clicks a thumbs down on a video like this?
I've just got back to cycling after about 25 years and at least once a week I'm biking up to Consett and beyond via this route. Your video makes an excellent reference work for anyone wanting to do the same route.
Very nicely done Stew, more power to your pedals young un ; )

+MrStalch cheers- it also baffles me when people thumbs down things for no reason. I enjoy the bike route videos and get requests all the time and good feedback from poeple learning new routes 👍🏼

That's not the start of the Derwent Walk, The start is at Blaydon Rugby Club, You've started from the site of the former Derwenthaugh cokeworks. 2:26 is when you get onto the Derwent walk.

I used to cycle from Consett to Swalwell, then to Bensham via the Metro Centre :) happy memories, I'll do it again some day, and I'll video the ride, but with the camera facing forwards and not down the whole time

Hi, great video. I'm looking at it to scout out the route for a C2C ride. Could you approximately tell me at what point in the video that you're near Rowlands Gill? Thanks

Just discovered your videos and they are brilliant thank you, I'm doing c2c with daughter this year and I think this route then down from Consett to washington and back to Newcastle quayside would be a good training run to do, If possible could you tell me the length roughly of the route in this video please

Hi there are some parts of this route that hit little traffic but most of it is off road on the cycle network

Interesting video... I often cycle these cycle paths (click my name for my videos) but I have not been from Consett to the coast area - Yet
