Great video. I'm looking for a cheap 110v welder for my grandson for Christmas. He is 8yrs old and he has welded with me for a few months. He absolutely loves it. Thank you for sharing.
Just picked one up for $100 during Amazon's prime days. I've been looking for a new MIG welder since my harbor freight welder fell off at 10 ft ladder and was destroyed. Thanks for the review and I'm stoked to try mine out soon and make some money with it. I also want to try lift Tig but wll have to purchase the kit.
Might not have ran stick as well because you left your ground lead on +. instructions for wire feed are + ground. instructions for stick is to switch the ground lead to - and put the stinger on +
So far no issues! Just a couple small complaints. I kinda want to make another video with it where I really put it to the test and try to get it to shut down or see what it takes to break.
if you want to restrike 7018 easily scrape it on concreate hard or tap it on metal that has no current going to it hard when you stop with 7018 hard glass forms on the tip of the rod when it cools
Should be fine. It's an older house and the breaker has been blown several times meaning that it trips at lower and lower amps every time. And I was using an extension cord because I don't have an outlet close.
One more question on the arccaptain 130, do you have to flip the drive wheel one way or another for 30 or 35 or is it just one slot in the wheel that handles both? I printed the manual and they don't cover anything on this. I expect to have my welder Thursday. Thanks
@@TheAmericanCraftsmen I'm brand new to welding. I just bought this machine. Do you have to move the ground clamp to the negative (-) terminal to do stick welding?
Got one on the way myself! Should be here by Saturday. Great vid. 🤘🏻
Sweet! Hope you love it!

More than likely.
I just bought one 4 Day a go im here to see if this welder have wire feed speed control i cant find on the manual also dont see any button
I'm pretty sure it's tied in with the amperage control. So the higher the amps the faster the wire speed etc.
I like hobart welding machines but you pay a premium for them but this little guy you've got seems to run pretty good and the price is decent.

I am going to use a 20 amp gfi breaker, that should do the job, just was concerned why you blew the breaker??

You flip the drive wheel over there are 2 grooves. Hope you enjoy your welder!
How these machine is going so far you think it would work with a 6011 rods stick
Still haven't had any issues and hasn't blown up yet! It might do 6011 but it doesn't have arc force
Im about to buy one.
Hope you like it!
I couldn't find that hood on the website you linked in the description. Have you got a link to the hood?
Yea right here.

@@TheAmericanCraftsmen Thank you!
you might've mentioned it already in the video, but what was the wire size?
That was .030 but it can also do .035
Hmm.. The 2 pound spools only would put me off.. You can get some pretty decent deals on 10 pound spools on line, both solid and flux core wire.
Yea that's the bad part about top feed machines. I much prefer side feed machines but those are usually more pro grade machine
If you’re using 7018 try dcep instead of dcen that could be your problem for it running crappy
I will try that next time. I couldn't remember which way it ran.
What amp breaker are you on with the 110?
I believe it's a 15 or 20 amp breaker. But it has been popped a couple times so it probably trips at less amps now
Any idea why the ground is labeled positive (+) ?
If I had to guess it would be because it's a "multi process machine" and you run electrode negative for flux core and electrode positive for stick.

Yes ground clamp will be negative for stick
Nice job
This or yes weld
