Manfred Mann was a great British rock band from the 60's. They had some great songs including "Do Wah Diddy Diddy" "Pretty Flamingo", "Mighty Quinn", "5-4-3-2-1" & "Sha La La". Manfred Mann's Earth Band is an English rock band formed by South African musician Manfred Mann later in 1971. Their hits include covers of Bruce Springsteen's "For You", "Spirit In The Night" & "Blinded By The Light" which was a big hit for them in 1976.

Very fun reaction. Why, oooh, why would we listen to today's rock music when we have this music? So authentic. Thank you for listening to our music. You will never be the same. GEN X, " we have the legends."

My favorite part of this song has ALWAYS been that solo break in the middle. It is honestly one of the most beautifully performed and recorded pieces I've ever heard. The rest of the song is so great in all ways as well, so people often forget how good it was by the time they get to the end. One thing to note: it uses most of the 'new' effects (back then), such as phasing, flanging, compression, wahwah, etc. all at once. Keep in mind, up to the time musicians started using them creatively, these effects were considered bad, and engineers strove hard to eliminate the 'distortion' to preserve the High Fidelity (hi-fi) of a performance. Sometime in the mid sixties as tech improved, they started making use of all sorts of audio wierdnesses to modify the sounds made from instruments and mics (most notably Hendrix), and the result is that NOW I have one little box that does about anything you can think of to a signal. The point is, bands like this were among the FIRST to showcase and utilize these things that we can do so easily now.

You need a dark room with a strobe light to get the right atmosphere to listen to this song. Alternatively, have a few phosphorescent posters with a "blacklight".

The 60s and early 70s was a major time of experimenting with all vsriety of instruments and new musical technologies. It turned out very unique sounds. So very creative.lyrics like this that are very confusing with imagery was very popular during that time. Mannn's song Quinn the Eskimo is also very unique.

They transformed this song. It was originally performed by Bruce Springsteen. It’s his song, but it didn’t do well for him. These guys really transformed this song.

There’s not a lot of originality in music these days…it’s like the time for being at the pinnacle of creativity has come and gone…these days, musicians re-use previously recorded music by sampling, and yes that’s creative, but it’s on top of someone else’s original creation.

This was #1 on Billboard Hot 100. And is the only Bruce Springsteen written song or at all that he had as a #1.

This is a cover of "The Boss" and it's a good thing he gave this to MM🤑🤑 because Springsteen's version sucks.
This is by far the best cover ever.
The one that comes closest is Dylan's "Knocking on Heavens Door" by G&R.
