Who would’ve thought by simply moving one little tiny pen to the right would make such a difference in speed on this truck it’s crazy I put a 3S 6000 Milla amp battery and this little volcano is a rocket
I didn't think it could be this fast on 3S. It's a quick, cheap and easy way to unleash the capabilities of this truck.
I used to own this truck was my first "hobby grade"..its good for entry level into the hobby. Metal spur gear,2slipo,and brushless electronics really transformed this truck for me but the frame couldnt handle jumping
I plan on upgrading this to run 3S once I get all my other builds done. It's a great intro RC but yeah I can see how it wouldn't be able to handle jumping too well.
@@ReadytoRunRC its mostly the motor mount assembly. After a jump it messes up the gear mesh..hence my recommendation for metal gears..it kept stripping gears...but even with metal it would constantly go out of mesh. Im sure there's a way it can be corrected i just didnt know what i was doing back then..lol. 3S in this truck would be crazy..i bet its good for speed runs and parking lot bashing
@@WATCHMEGOBROKE I run 3S in it now and it handles it with the stock brushed motor. Doesn’t get really hot either. I can’t remember exactly what I got with the gps on 3S but I’m pretty sure it was somewhere close to 30mph. I don’t plan on skatepark bashing or doing any big air jumps with it when I put the brushless in on 3S. I just want to see how fast I can make it. There is an aluminum motor mount with adjustable slots available for the Volcano so I might get one and see how good that works.
Just picked up a Goldbat Gold 5200 3s 60c Softpack for my new Rival MT10. my first test drive was a light bashing of 15 minutes, checked it with the my meter, 70% totally cool to touch. all cells balanced and looking perfect. I will totally buy Goldbats again. great power and long lasting as my first impression. Great video and thanks for coving this brand!
Seems like a pretty good brand and that you had a good experience with that brand as well. I will be getting more Goldbats. I am getting that same 3s battery you are talking about. See how the Volcano handles it.
Very nice video ! I just got mine a week ago and its still full stock with the Hexfly 2000 mah Battery, i ordered a 2 pack of the povway 5200 mah 50C 2S batteries. Can't wait to get them and try it out. Lovin the performance🙏🏾
Thank you! It's a fun little truck. It's slow with the stock battery but the 2s wakes it up a little. I been running it on 3S lately. It nearly doubles the over all speed.
@@ReadytoRunRC Very nice. for the 3s batteries do i need to upgrade to brushless or does the stock brushed motor handle the 3s fine ?
@@PakoTube0788 the stock motor and esc has held up with running 3S. You just have to move the jumper on the esc from NiMh to Lipo.

That is the plan. I want to run it on 3s first and make a video. Then I'll do the brushless conversion sometime in the future.
I have a 3s same brand and it's a decent lipo battery... And that little truck isn't so bad
It needs 3S for sure and brushless. I liked the battery. Seems decent. We will see how good it is once I have more than the 3 charges I have through it now.

@@ReadytoRunRC good as long as a 60 amp fits then go with 60 more is always better the only reason I said 35 amp and above because I don't know if a 60 amp fits in that little guy and I seen some nice looking 35 amp and 45 amp with a fan and small also 3s capable but that's only if you don't have enough room
@@MightyistheRCGamer that’s true. 60 might take up too much room. I’ll just check dimensions before I make my final decision.
This car is my first rc car and I’ve had it a little over 2 years now I’m ready for an upgrade haha. I put a bigger battery in it to gave it more power but I’m thirsty for more!!
My newest video of this, I put a 3s lipo in and it rips now. Next step is a brushless setup once I burn up this brushed motor.

@@jason.3011 for speed brushless is a lot better. Way more powerful. It just depends on what you prefer.
I got my Volcano a onyx brushless motor and ESC and had to rig up a battery tie down to run a spectrum 3s 100c hardcase lipo.
Pretty much uncontrollably fast lol
lol yeah that's coming for this one. Just doing the mild upgrades at first mainly for content but 3S and brushless is on the way.
3s should make that Volcano Erupt!

Yeah but like all the other videos that I have been seeing on how to upgrade any RC car they do not talk about the pinion gear and what type of pinion gear but not to mention most videos that I have watched they would not give you the link to the motor or esc they bought and right now I am working on mine and the only way that you can find how to upgrade to find out what you can use to upgrade is by watching a video or using what someone else's upgrade on your car so most people don't know how to figure out what upgrade to use without spending a lot of money 4 ESC that will work for your RC truck or car

Hey. Nice vid. I'm looking at this model and wondering if I should pull the trigger or not. This vid is helping... in your opinion what's the single biggest pro and con of this truck?
Thanks for checking out the video. There’s 2 cons of this truck I can think of. The steering servo is very weak and the suspension isn’t the greatest. The pro is you can get this truck for a reasonable price for the scale size. I also put a 3S lipo in which it says it is capable to run on and it nearly doubled the top speed.

Redcats to me on 2s seem about the same as the Nimh but on 3s they wake right up
I wanna get the redcat ground pounder! I hear its pretty awesome. Where I live I'd love to have something like an xmaxx for the beach but that wont happen anytime soon if ever lol. Plus I have a few more procedures on my back to go and this damn neuropathy is taking over on me pretty quick!
You're right about that. I did notice a little improvement with the 2s. I was just happy with how it ran on that because the Nimh was just too weak. This was the first I really had some fun with this truck. The ground pounder is a pretty cool looking monster truck. Looks like it would be a blast to run but a beach rip with the xmaxx sounds cool too. I'm sorry to hear about what you're going through. That really bums me out that you are dealing with those health issues. Hope everything goes good for you with those procedures and that neuropathy slows down or just plain stops giving you pain. @@ReadytoRunRC I appreciate it man, thanks for thinking of me. Yeah they say most RC M/Ts are 2wd and regular steering and some only 2s at an average of $300+/-. The ground pounder is 4x4x4 which is amazing to already come with rear steering plus 3s capability not to mention redcat in my opinion has the absolute best customer service I've had in this hobby. Since I've been layed up I been playing around with making my own vinyl stickers so we'll see how that goes!
@@DelawareRCMan I never really looked into the ground pounder but what you’re describing, it really sounds awesome. I will have to look into it a little more.

Don’t know what to tell you. Unless they changed the esc from what came on mine, it should be the same as yours.
Can you charge those with the charger the volcano comes with?
No. Use a charger to charge through the balance lead.

I am running 3s too. My newest video is of this on 3s. I will eventually change everything out too. I just started.
