I love Raphael as a character. Sure, he was first seen as a villain but he had a good motive for wanting soul edge for Amy. His moveset was quite easy to use in some games for me.
And his moveset is so similar usually that you can basically learn him in multiple games at once...so I'd he's your main he's often very easy to get used to I play him in 5 and 6 quite often tbh
2 will always have my favorite design. Simple, elegant, and with a nice detail. The metal ornament near his neck, while becoming more common centuries later, was used to signify rank in the military in European armies. Shame they never delved into the possibility of Raphael being a war veteran

The most flamboyant character in Soul Calibur, perfect characteristic for a noble french rapier user. I like how he became more and more a vampire (malfested ok, but he has a vampire look and attitude). Some people think he is gay but I think is just effeminate, the fact he bites only females necks is the proof.
Technically he's effeminate by (former)modern standards. But considering he's an aristocrat and especially a French aristocrat in the 16th-17th Century, he was probably the most manliest Chad that ever existed back then.

he and amy are some of the most wholesome characters in the game but their story just makes me so sad.. i just want the sorels to be happy
