    Here's my 2 c, I shot non comped echelon, comped and compact yesterday. To be honest I was underwhelmed with the comped version, I read that it was about 10% decrease in recoil but for me it was more like 5%ish. The best shooter for me was the compact version, because the frame was slimmer I could control the recoil better. So I am getting normal echelon with small frame size. Guys, try different configurations of frames before buying if a gun allows it. It can be worth it :)

    Echelon in my opinion is the best pistol sub 950. The COG, the mounting system, and the ergonomics on the grip are elite. Shoots great and feels great. Also looks really pretty.

  • @QuantumTactical
    @QuantumTactical Месяц назад +7

    As a competitive shooter and an owner of both of these I can say confidently that the comp doesn’t improve the performance of an already great gun by as much as many have been led to believe. There is some reduction in muzzle rise but the overall performance is not drastically improved.

    • @rdrgear
      @rdrgear  Месяц назад +1

      @@QuantumTactical agreed. But I would argue no one is using an Echelon on a competition pistol. Muzzle rise reduction even if minor. Is a performance upgrade.

    Did I "need" to upgrade? But I sure did anyway... the OG Echelon won me over in just 10rds at a range event on release day and soon became my overall favorite handgun. I jumped at getting the Comp model soon after its release and it shoots just as well (BETTER from a recoil and follow-up perspective) losing just ~20 FPS velocity based on my readings.

    In an actual Defensive shooting where one is not wearing ear protection and maybe not eye protection either, aren’t you at greater risk for hearing damage and/or eye damage from gas if in an up close and personal scenario or inside a car with the comped gun vs the noncomp version?? T o me , comped gun makes sense on a range toy or competition gun but not a true duty or defensive Hand gun.

    • @rdrgear
      @rdrgear  Месяц назад +1

      @@jonathanglassman2021 gas isn’t doing anything to you, and the short amount of time you would be exposed is minor. My lead levels are already high just from range shooting. A comp is 100% preference, and it’s more common than not for nothing edc and duty. Still comes down to a choice by the end user

      @@Oneproblemme101 gas pedal if you test multiple guns. And kind of know the History of them. They were designed to both be on.a gun and they were custom placed for the shooter. A porter pistol will 100% of the turn shoot flatter than a standard barrel with the thumb rest. The portter barrel will also allow the gun to return to target faster. Now add a ported barrel and a thumb rest to that same gun. And it’s a night and day difference. Hence the design of 2011 open guns. They all have both.
      You are not wrong. About the over hype. Because everyone chases this flat gun idea. When a lot of dudes have a shit grip and chase a flat gun. 🤙
