Here's my 2 c, I shot non comped echelon, comped and compact yesterday. To be honest I was underwhelmed with the comped version, I read that it was about 10% decrease in recoil but for me it was more like 5%ish. The best shooter for me was the compact version, because the frame was slimmer I could control the recoil better. So I am getting normal echelon with small frame size. Guys, try different configurations of frames before buying if a gun allows it. It can be worth it :)
I shot mine, a lot. Starting to wear the fde off the slide. I truly think it's a masterpiece. I've never shot better, or faster. It's literally the perfect handgun for me.
Echelon in my opinion is the best pistol sub 950. The COG, the mounting system, and the ergonomics on the grip are elite. Shoots great and feels great. Also looks really pretty.
THANK YOU!!! You did a public service. Most guntubers only intention is to shove in new products to eager buyers but you actually put in a truly great content. Some of us already have the original Echelon and just curious to see if that cut makes a massive difference on the shooting experience.
@rdrgear No problem just saw it and I always think man I should record my drills and there wouldn't be as many of the "Did this get here this time or did I not mark it before" LoL
It's so funny how, during the dual wielding scene, I was able to tell which one was the comped model just by how flat it stayed relative to the older version.
I constructively criticized one of your earlier videos regarding a chest rig on the sound and video quality. I gotta say you stepped it up considerably since then. So kudos to you sir! And a very well done comparison here!
Yes it does -- it comes with 3 differently sized backstraps. Then, if you don't mind me expanding on your question, they also make 3 different sized frames that you can easily move the Central Operating Group (serialized part) to.

As a competitive shooter and an owner of both of these I can say confidently that the comp doesn’t improve the performance of an already great gun by as much as many have been led to believe. There is some reduction in muzzle rise but the overall performance is not drastically improved.
@@QuantumTactical agreed. But I would argue no one is using an Echelon on a competition pistol. Muzzle rise reduction even if minor. Is a performance upgrade.
Did I "need" to upgrade? But I sure did anyway... the OG Echelon won me over in just 10rds at a range event on release day and soon became my overall favorite handgun. I jumped at getting the Comp model soon after its release and it shoots just as well (BETTER from a recoil and follow-up perspective) losing just ~20 FPS velocity based on my readings.
In an actual Defensive shooting where one is not wearing ear protection and maybe not eye protection either, aren’t you at greater risk for hearing damage and/or eye damage from gas if in an up close and personal scenario or inside a car with the comped gun vs the noncomp version?? T o me , comped gun makes sense on a range toy or competition gun but not a true duty or defensive Hand gun.
