      Todays music is horrible (most of the time), old 90's and 80's tunes remixed with annoying autotune bullshit and almost every song has the same boring melody. Thats why I always listen 80's and 90's tunes.

    Absolute tune.. Patrick Cowley is a massive inspiration to my music, and Paul Parkers vocals are great in this

  • @BjarneBlom
    @BjarneBlom 2 года назад +13

    Written, arranged and performed by Patrick Cowley, vocals by Paul Parker and production by Cowley and Marty Blecman.
    Patrick Cowley was no doubt one of the founding fathers of later Hi-NRG and even most contemporary electronic pop music, along with Giorgio Moroder and Bobby "O".
    He left a profound legacy for artists to come, surely Pet Shop Boys will be the first to tell you from where they got their inspiration for their first demos. Also, check out the intro of OMD's Radio Waves.
    Cowley developed his keyboard skills from studying synthesizers at college. I think it is clear to hear on the opening theme that he was very capable at programming his synths innovatively and getting the most out of his settings.
    This is a really uplifting disco song with a rather bleak message, typical of Cowley's lyrics at that time, when probably he was aware of the rather invasive and intruding HIV symptoms that ultimately led to his unfortunate, untimely death.
    This is also an very cathcy tune and I believe it may actually be a hit and receive decent radio play if re-released in 2022.

      Condivido!! Io in linea con Cowley considero anche Bobby Orlando: in quell'epoca anche le loro produzioni con Sylvester, The Flirts, Divine, ecc. in discoteca erano al top!! A me colpirono subito quei suoni di synth in sequenza e quelle fantastiche batterie elettroniche. E' quasi 40 anni che ho sempre in testa quei suoni.

    Down to the last man

    This song is more than 20 years old now, and apart from being a music masterpiece, its meaning is so relevant nowadays! We are now paying for automatic (more immediate) satisfaction, and convenience, just to become doomed by loosing our own true sense of quality of life. It is depressing to see how true these lyrics are and this song is a true masterpiece for making me not feel depressed while listening to it!
