I love micro fishing! My micro fishing setup is my microlite Shakespeare 5’6” with 6lb Viscous and a bubble gum pink swim nymph jig. I do like the Ozark Trail fishing packs, particularly the creeks and ponds. Those are the only ones that have helgramites that creek fish can’t get enough of. Really enjoyed this video! Thanks 😊
With that light of gear it’s awesome how many fish you get, super good at finding smaller fish, which in turn helps locate holes that hold more finicky bigger fish. And with lighter gear you can use smaller gauge hooks that require no effort to set the hook, and that light action just absorbs all of those head shakes and jumps that would lose fish. I’ll definitely be picking up a BFS setup for saltwater with reds, small snook, trout, and juvenile tarpon.

Huge shoutout to Norm for putting me on the Chrome Rat L Trap winter sauce!! Watched the winter fishing tips video of yours and was yo-yo'ing the Rat L Trap off the bottom and caught a 23 inch largemouth tank which absolutely shattered my previous PB literally less than an hour ago. I guess the traps work here in the metro Atlanta area in winter too lol. Don't sleep on Norm's tips ladies and gents!

Best explanation of the winter bite I've heard is that fish have slower metabolism when it's cold. So they just don't have the energy to pursue anything big. Downsizing makes it easy for them for a quick slurp

Growing up in Queensland I've chased tuna, mackerel and marlin and thought it was pretty awesome, but I've since discovered that there's nothing quite like fishing in a storm drain with 3-6 pound line and getting hit by 18 inch long tilapia and carp. Micro-fishing is great fun and can be done really cheaply. Some of all-time favourite gear came from places like Kmart.
I love the 5’6 Shakespeare spinning rod combo for trout. Something about the light rod and hooking up on a 20+ and having a 5’6 is perfect for fishing in small creeks
