  • Maine Coon cats Buster and Luna are facing a very difficult challenge today: to jump as long as possible and fly through a ring at the same time! Will the biggest and strongest cat win, or is it an advantage to be small and agile?

    Of course, there is always the possibility that Buster just did not want to. He may have felt he had performed enough.

    Great challenge! Watching this video, i remember my Tom. He was a Silver-Bengal / EKH mixbreed, but had only a "wrong" fur pattern. He had tiger stripes instead of leopard points. He adopted me as he was around 15 years old, body and character fully bengal, and he had an awesome jump power. No cupboard was too high for him, and he always managed to find a safe way to jump down. One day he surprised me. He was resting on the couch, i was in an armchair. As he woke up, he looked at me, and than he jumped directly over the table into my lap to cuddle with me. With his weight of 6.5 kg he was very athletic, but i was not prepared for this jump. I heard his "i`m coming meow" and had just enough time to hold him after his landing. Later, i measured the distance... couldn`t believe it, it was a little more than 3 meters. And his jump looked like it was pretty easy for him. Even old, he was playful like a young kitten.
    Never underestimate the jump power of cats!

      Wow, that's amazing. Must be some kind of record!
      Perhaps Bengals are more athletic than Maine Coons, who can be a bit clumsy (at least Buster).
      I'm happy you find this video, it's one of my personal favourites and the one where I'm most proud of my cats. It took a lot of time to train them to do this.

      @@Maine_Coon_Adventures Your Coonies are both young and playful, but both show their own will. Coonies need around 4 years to be grown up completely. If they get no HCM problem, they can get really old and very cuddly.
      The jump from Tom a record? I don`t think so, Bengal cats are well known for their need of movement, exercise and playtime. They have very strong muscles, i could feel it every time Tom came to cuddle. Sometimes i said to him "you`re made of muscles, stomach and love". From above, he looked really skinny, but when he moved, i could see all his muscles work in perfect harmony. 2 or 3 days a week i made barf menu for him and he loved it very much. Barf is good for strong muscles, but it must be part of a diet in cooperation with your vet. So i decided to do it only 2 or 3 days a week. The other days he had very good cat food, meat out of my roasting pan, made without fat and spices. The only thing he rejected was fish, as i tried it he made the "this makes me puke" gesture, then the foot movement like he wants to bury this shit and then he grumbled at me really loud. Yes,he got a meal that he loved, all meat was ok for him, but fish was not on his list of good or just acceptable food.
      My grandpa Maxi had strong muscles, too, but slighly arthrosis. So he avoided moving fast or jumping too high, but he was a very cuddly grandpa and sometimes he loved some easy playtime. He loved to search for his treats, too, so i could train his brain. To my surprise, all my cats showed very much intelligence after some easy training. They`re awesome beings!

    👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Way to go, guys! Both of you were AMAZINGLY ATHLETIC...!!! But I have to admit that Luna, due to being slightly smaller & a tad younger (Sorry, Buster!) she did manage to jump so naturally, almost... majestically! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

    The title should be How FAR can they jump. Not long.

    • @Maine_Coon_Adventures
      @Maine_Coon_Adventures  Год назад +1

      Maybe so, but isn't the athletic sport called long jump?
      I remember that I thought a lot about this when I was posting the video and I decided for this title for some good reason, so I think I'll keep it. But thanks for the suggestion 🙂
