Totally agree! I had the DS88 and it was a wonderful keyboard to play. I found it a bit much for me to deal with, after some medical issues but I was ecstatic to pickup the DS 76 which was lighter on touch and weight but still had all the great sounds as before.
I have a DS76 for everything 😂 I've had it for 3 years now and it does its job quite well. Ok weight, just a bit large, but I love how simple it's to use
Nice Video. I am also in a Cover Band as a keyboard Player. Glad to see there's lots of Us! Great also to see what your rig is. I'm still working on mine... trying to streamline..
NICE!! Like the Hammond. My main keyboard is my MOX 8 and stacked with a Kawaii sampler which I use mainly for strings, but man, that Hammond looks and sounds awesome! Thanks for the tip on the Line 6 mic. Besides a Pearl battery powered vocal mic back in the 70’s, the SM 58 has always been my choice, but I will now check out that one. Thanks for sharing your set up with us !
how is the key tar? worth getting ? I wanted one with my last band but never got round to getting one, have relocated to Oz now and trying to get a band going, definitely on my wish list
Thanks for watching. I love the Vortex, very light, nice controls, easy to play. There are certainly some things to consider. For example: It’s important to get a good locking guitar strap, it takes a few seconds to put on and take off again so requires a bit of forethought in the set etc. I’ll see if I can make a video on it now that our season has slowed down
Stepped up your quality on this one bud. Noticible difference. Really good stuff. More like this please. Would be cool to see some of the other band members rigs too.
Just curious on why you would hook up a midi controller to your Roland? Does the Alesis have any controls on it or is all the information just being received from the Roland? And if so then why even have it? Thanks!
Hi Jake, thanks for watching. It’s a Keytar, so I can grab it for some songs and be mobile on stage. You can midi map it to use any of the controls to control the Roland
Hey @Ludwiczek7734 thanks for watching. I use two CME Widi Masters ( one in the DS for midi in, and one in the Keytar for midi out ) which work on Bluetooth and work great. You can buy them on Amazon and numerous music retailers.
@jayjtattoo313 Thanks so much for watching. I haven’t used gig performer yet. I would like to do a video with a keyboard player who does use it to explain how it works, what the benefits are, and how it helps them get through the gig though if you or anyone else who uses it would be interested in that 😀
Hi Steve, I'm from Essex nearby. I use the Roland Juno DS 88 in my cover band too. Love it. Only criticism is the keybed can be a bit unforgiving on the hands at times for fast organ sounds, glissandos etc. I use a Yamaha PSR EW 410 on my upper for that. Just to check, I'm fairly new to things and was wondering do you connect your right and left to the desk for stereo...or do you just do mono only?
@scotz74 Hi Scott, thanks so much for watching. agree about unforgiving on the hands, I got the DS76 as well so often use that for exactly that reason, I always use stereo, left and right output directly into the desk, great for the electric piano, string sounds etc 😀
@@coverbandkeyboardplayer8401 Thank you Steve. That's interesting. I've got my eye on the 76....trouble is they're more expensive new than my 88 was at the moment. Inflation! Wtih the L+R do you connect a channel each to the desk or just have them both going into one channel? Also, was wondering, wathcing your video with Jarrod, whether you've made a video about the world of midi and a cover band or do you like me avoid it?
@scotz74 Hi Scott - the prices have gone up a lot which is a shame but I see them pop up now and again on Facebook market place. I use two separate channels for left and right on the desk. I have always used hardware for sounds so far, but hoping to do a video with Jarrod about MainStage so I can learn more 😀
A couple of comments as I didn’t find this as useful as o thought I would. I thought “check this out maybe I’ll learn some new gear that would help me or a new trick”. I have no idea what style of music you will play with this. I didn’t hear you say the model of Roland, stage piano? I didn’t hear anything about effects. Are they only what is built into the keyboards? I think out of those questions. The style of covers would tell me if a similar set up would work for me. My guess is i don’t it would since I play much more synthetic sounds, but I couldn’t tell.
Thanks for your question. Two reasons really. 1st is about having less cables on a stage and it certainly helps with that. The second, I often need to set up near the back of the stage as other acts are on before us, and then I need to move my keyboards forwards when it’s our turn to play. Being wireless really helps with this as there are less things to move and worry about when I move them.
@@coverbandkeyboardplayer8401 but it's literally more cables, batteries etc. WIth power supplies and patch cables you now have 6 or more pieces to handle.
I would be scared having everywhere wireless connections. Always keeping full baterries. I get it on the keytar thats perfect, but I prefer on other keyboards cables. (I like that hammond sk🤩 nice set up really)
Roland DS76 is an amazing keyboard. A very deep, well-thought and great-sounding instrument.

Thank you, really helpful

How about a video on how you set up and use the akg pt40s for not so up to date players like me?
Hey Thomas 😀thanks for watching. Good call. Will try and do that this weekend venues and time allowing
Good luck getting the sound man to give you stereo channels. Most large venues don't even use it
2:21 I have Juno DS, Korg Kross and I'mh thinking about Keytar. How this wireless midi connect works? When can I buy it?
Hey @Ludwiczek7734 thanks for watching. I use two CME Widi Masters ( one in the DS for midi in, and one in the Keytar for midi out ) which work on Bluetooth and work great. You can buy them on Amazon and numerous music retailers.
@@coverbandkeyboardplayer8401 It's possible to set another sound for Alesis and another sound to Juno in the same time?
@ludwiczek7734 Yes, by using different midi channels you can easily do this
@@coverbandkeyboardplayer8401 Thanks! I guess it's possible in performance mode.
Have you looked at using gig performer?

You did not mention earlier today that you had a Keytar! I expect a video of you playing that behind your head.
Great video as always mate.👍

Please fix the focus... Other than that, great video.

Hey Paul 😀thanks for watching. I play classic party covers mostly 70’s, 80’s 90’s. The Roland is the Juno DS76 and I use no outboard effects.
Why are you wireless
