    yes, this is what i needed. seems not to difficult. i think the most time will be spend on the removal of the sealant they used to glue the roof shut.

      It is relatively straightforward. Most likely you will indeed spend more time removing the previous owners lazy effort to seal the roof. :-) Have fun!

    Great! I have a 97 Ford E150 discovery van (conversion) whose moonroof lid came off on the interstate and is long gone. I've had a tough time finding a replacement or a patch to seal that thing. Would be very grateful to you for any tips on freshening a replacement or finding a replacement, and I would be happy to compensate you. Thank you very much. Stephen

      Hi Stephen, I've got a feeling that this is out of my league. I have no experience whatsoever with Ford E150's. I don't think they ever sold these, on this side of the pond. Maybe you could make a template using the good old CAD method (cardboard aided design), and bring the template to a body shop who could then make a polycarbonate substitute to measure?

    Thank for posting this informative video. I have a 97 defender withba sun roof that is leaking too.
    The O ring gaskets you mentioned is there a part number for them? And where I could find one that would fit perfectly.
    Appreciate your help.

    I have electric sunroofs in my Disco 1, I want to swap the front one with a manual one. Any tips?

    • @gmcevoy
      @gmcevoy  Год назад

      I'm afraid I can't help with that one, Butch. If I still had the car, I could measure it up for you, but I sold it a couple of years ago, sadly. You might want to ask a Land Rover specialist parts dealer for their advice. Best of luck!

      Hello Jean-Philippe. It is indeed possible to change it if you have to. It should still be available at RimmerBros here rimmerbros.com/Item--i-BTR3074 Good preparation before fitting will make it waterproof for years to come. Have fun! :-)

    Very good video what about an electric roof which is different from this

    • @gmcevoy
      @gmcevoy  5 лет назад +2

      Hi there, and thank you for watching. That is an excellent question, to which I can only provide limited insight. I know for sure that the operating system is quite more complex, than a manual fitment. I would say for sure that the headliner would have to come out, because the window fasteners cannot be accessed otherwise. A common problem on electric sunroofs, is a crack in the tray, where the evacuation tubes are located. You might want to pull the headliner out anyway, and assess if your leak isn't due to that as well. I hope this helps!

      Electric sunroof in Disco is a mess. Multiple points of failure for ingress. Seal and gaskets as indicated in this vid are always culprits but in my opinion it is more likely the screws holding up the sunroof pan. These fit through the pan and rely entirely on the pressure of the bolt against the roof to seal the water channel around the outside of the pan. Absolutely mental. Anyways I have replaced all the bolts with Wurth sealant around bolts heads and tightened them up a great deal. I have then covered each screw head with a flashband patch and sunroof not leaking.
