The finale is almost upon us and we have a lot to talk about for next week. The seven kingdoms have been vastly shaken up and throughout this video we’ll be going through the first look. As Always im gonna play the teaser and then we’re gonna get into the breakdown so let’s check it out and then talk about it after that. Oh yeah and spoilers…heavy spoilers mate.

You know makaer is PISSED at his son. First for getting other men killed over refusing 1v1 combat and going with a trial of 7. And also that kis son was too cowardly to die in combat. And that in the trial he killed his own brother
I honestly didn't expect this characterization of Maekar and I really love it. Dude is going to be full of regret til his dying day. For some reason I expected him to be more directly power-hungry and that the killing of Baelor would be more opportunistic. It has been a while since I read anything ASOIAF so maybe I remembered wrong, but I'm glad it didn't go that way.
Maekar was the youngest sibling of 4 brothers. In theory he never had a clear line to the throne. I feel like it's a mis-characterization. He loved his brothers. And killing baelor wasn't a power play, but a tragic accident.

@patrickbahati207we can't always blame a parent for the way as child is. One is a coward but is tragic because of the dreams. One is a madman. There's another I forget about and egg is brave, rash, and has the makings of a good kid. Plus the girls. He overall did a good job or his wife did. Aerion also hid his worst nature around his father.

I’d like to imagine that’s why Baelor avoided fighting them and let the Humphrey’s deal with them while he took on his brother.

The emotion in Maekar’s voice when he asks if Dunk will have Egg as his squire gave me the feels. He seems completely guilt ridden and kinda broken. 🥹
I hear what Lyonel is saying, but Baelor obviously risked something if he ended up dead
He could have stayed in his seat! Of course there was, but risk was acceptable. He was a moral and honorable man. He knew that by doing 'this' it would create a rift within his own family. He did it anyway and played the ultimate price.
You know, I guess he really thought nobody would hit him though...3 kg, 3 family members and a bootlicker.
Going up against your jealous little brother, who's trying to defend his two sons, is definitely taking a risk.
Not really, evidently was even brought up in the books (can’t say I’ve read them), were someone questioned if it was honorable for him to fight people swore not to hurt him essentially saying they couldn’t fight him back, plus it’s Maekar not the king’s guard that ends up killing him.
Obviously, there was still a risk, but not remotely as close to the same risk that everybody else was under.
@griffins750good point, but i recall the dialogue between him and Dunc. I think he was moved by doing the right thing regardless, even if it runs against his royal duties. When Dunc was short a guy, he saw what he had to do. He noted the unfairness of the situation. Perhaps, he meant to balance the imbalance. God's allowing.
Baelor’s death hits as hard as any ASOIAF death so far…

It certainly hit hard for a character we've seen 3 or 4 times. But you cant compare it to spending 3 whole seasons with Robb Stark, a whole season of Ned being the main character, 8 whole seasons growing to love The Hound, Jaime, Jorah, Varis Theon, or even Shireen etc etc they had more impact than a character we've seen maybe 3 times....
Not really. He was a small unimportant character who served no purpose being alive..

@pookpook3891yes, he was never in risk of being murdered like the others who stood up for Dunk were. The kings guard would not have stopped until the others were dead.

Lyonell did take the largest risk if you think about it. The targs if they won could have easily accused him of rebellion and snatched his seat. And demoted him to minor lord.
And they were out of their goddamn minds.

This episode was so visceral I totally turned into Ryan George / Producer Guy, "Wow Wow Wow, Wow Wow." I felt that even with a shorter runtime that it was more visceral than 'Battle of the Bastards'.

Yeah, the freeze frame of Peter's face when Dexter let's slip about Cavill at the presser is all the proof we need that it was true. It's hilarious. Like in the other slip where Dexter speaks of Ser Dunc's fate at Summerhall and he frantically does a cut/erase gesture!

I was so not checking for this show but damn I love it.
From the book: "... the Laughing Storm had joined Prince Baelor against Prince Maekar. Mace, battle-axe, and longsword clashed and clanged, ringing against helm and shield. Maekar was taking three blows for every one he landed, and Dunk could see that it would be over soon.I must make an end to it before more of us are killed"
So… it was two against one. Lyonel and Baelor were overwhelming Maekar. Lyonel and Baelor were essentially beating Maekar to death. Again, two against one. Maekar was trying not to die.

the lucky thing with this show is we’ll be getting a new season every year back to back so the wait won’t hurt as much compared to HOTD. But can’t wait to see where season 2 takes us

I genuinely would love to see the season start off in Old Town & see a few small adventures in Dorne to then maybe half way thru the season they go to Ser Eustace & the second book happens.
I feel like the second book is the least important of the 3 to Westeros especially as a whole so them makin a season following just that would be a lot slower & less exciting than this new season.
Normally I would NEVER want new stuff to be added but based on all the new scenes added to this seasons I feel comfortable with it, it obviously this team knows the tone of the story & what the vibe needs to be, it feels great to have a team finally making something they know the FANS WANT & not what THEY WANT.

There’s a crazy similarity between Lionel and Robert Baratheon as well! Robert wanted to get in the tourney and said the men were cowards if they would let him win. While his ancestor Lionel called it like it was that Baelor was a coward for going into battle exploiting the same protections Robert scoffed at.
There’s even similarity between Robert and Maekar who both viewed being King as a punishment
I just looked it up and Robert is a Targaryen too 😭 because of his grandmother. So the similarities with him being the Hammer just like Baelor also makes sense too. I wonder if Robert inherited a lot of Karma from his ancestors unresolved traumas and pain 🤔

Maekar never blamed dunk fully in the book, more of his son so much that he banished him. He loved his brother and saw the throne as his punishment for being a kinslayer. Maekar will be remembered as a strong king
