Asa group, our take on thet h e m e was to create a film that could give voice to young people in our society, portraying their diversevisions and identities. Our generation is marked by a wide set of various personalities, genders, styles and ideas, with its core characteristic being diversity. Today, young people want to exploit those elements that make them unique, with a strong desire for self-discovery and freedom, conceived as the possibility of expressing their true selves in our society. The title "Generation XTC" comes from a 1994 song linked totechno culture and it representsthe chaotic generation we are portraying, full of stimuli and desires, as well as the essence of the nature oft h e fashion film itself. However, our life is not free from cultural rules yet, and the influence of the past is still effective in people's minds.
Through this fashion film, we want to understand what are the constraints of freedom felt by the youth and to what extent they can express their identity in the present day.
For the realisation oft h e fashion film, we chose a casting of six people that could represent the variety and diversity of our generation, to reach the result of capturing its zeitgeist. Each one of them has a different aesthetic, background and life experience, so thatthey could enrich the film bybringing their unique vision. In ordert o achieve this goal, we decided to film the subjects in separate settings, with a distinctive colour palette and clothing style reserved for each. Moreover, to go more in-depth in our investigation, we decided to interview the people we filmed. The interviews worked both as atool to know better those people and what they represent, aswell as an addition to the fashion film itself. That is because we got pieces of sentences and words that they said, cut and merged together to use as a voiceover to the scenes. The people's voices were paired with music and sounds produced by us to match each scene's vibe, which gave another layer of deptht o the film.
