Just wanted to let you know I have discovered another way to “fake it” is by using greeting cards given to me over the years. I deconstruct the cards and use backgrounds, words and pieces in my cards for a quick send off for birthdays, anniversaries…you name it! It’s a GREAT way to recycle as well.❤
Jennifer, Jennifer, Jennifer ~ you never cease to amaze us. Whether it's new products, new techniques, or using our supplies differently, you keep our craft moving forward ~ keeping it interesting! I've used similar alcohol ink or watercolor looking paper previously, and the recipients think that I did it ~ I just smile. :) Thank you for all you do for us. Your hard work is not lost on us.
Hi Jennifer 🥰🦘🦘🦘 You, dear lady, are the G.O.A.T. of card designers and Demonstrators! HEAPS of ideas, BUCKET loads of tips & those complex looking layers make your cards superior! Thank you for everything, including the time I spent enjoying myself with a ☕ & a treat to boost my level of Happiness today! 🙏 Blessings 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Jennifer you are a lifesaver, I have the ink drops dusk and vivid, and I really did not know why I even bought them, plus I kept searching on youtube for about a year now, looking for inspiration from other people, on what to do with them, and there really hasn't been any videos that actually pertain to those very paper pads. The few videos that I did fine did not make sense to me, but your video did make sense to me and the cards look beautiful, but simple. I also have a lot of other 6x6 pattern paper that I have been at a loss on what to do with. After watching your video today, you have really helped me a lot. So thank you for taking the time to share your ideas it is very much appreciated. Patsy Fromherz🥰🥰
Hooray! When I began card making last year I decided at 73 years young, I would not get into the expense, mess, time commitment to do inks. I have lots of art supplies and a life long history of trying new things. Stenciling is not new to me, nor is card making. But die cutting is, as well as papers other than watercolor paper. Liked and commented before watching, I'm so excited to watch this one.
All of your cards are so pretty. You always come up with great things to do and how to do them! Keep up with the very best card making and all your very cool and great ideas. Your great, Thank-you very much!👍💜💯🙂
Wow, another video knocked out the box. So many different ideas to choose from. I know this video is a year old or so, but for me it’s brand new. Thank you for sharing your talent and time. Awesome video.
Jennifer!!!!! Omgoodness girl, I would never in the rest of my life have thought to stencil atop papers like that. It’s brilliant! You get the best ideas - thank you!! I love each of the cards but the bird just captured my heart - it’s so pretty! ♥️🤗😍❣️
Thank you for sharing this beautiful technique. As a scrapbooker, I have loads of patterned paper. I also wanted to say, I feel like the break you took from videos recently has helped. You sound happier in your last two videos. Happiness is so important for our mental health, and taking a break is sometimes helpful. I’m glad your back.❤
As soon as I saw those Craft Consortium papers I recognized them. I bought them precisely because I’m not great with alcohol inks. I want to try some of these techniques. Thanks for the great video!
Love the cards! My fav was actually the “bird card” but then the last one surprised me; when you said “fastest & easiest” i thought you just added the sentiment to pattered paper; loved the stenciling.
I always use printed paper to make quick cards for birthdays, thank you and congratulations cards. you'd be amazed at how fast you can make a card for these 3 main occasions. I also have drawer of leftover papers from past monthly kits purchases, so thanks for rhe inspiration. I prefer using tim holtz inks and sprays instead of purchasing faux look alike papers. There is something therapeutic about creating all those backgrounds that I enjoy. Thanks for sharing.
You must have a warehouse full of supplies. I know how hard it has to be to go through everything and make choices. Those are beautiful paper packs. Thanks for showing all of them. Great ideas. 😊
This is genius! Tons of ideas and my creative juices are flowing already! Love HBS products, especially in the last 2 years, all their designs have been really beautiful and super creative. Laura
I love that entire Spring honey bee release, especially that 1st die ! It reminds me of the Anna Griffin cigar wrap embellishments, except it's bigger. Super fun video! 😮 That glitter card, OMG gorgeous 🥰
I also have paper pads with the inky backgrounds, so today's video has me super inspired! Jennifer, your videos are so valuable and I consider you the GOAT of cardmaking. You're my cardmaking HERo! Thank you! ❤
I can not even begin to describe how happy your long videos are making me. Out of all my subscriptions I miss you the most when you take a well earned break and I learned so much from you over the years. I thank you very very much for sharing your creativity
I can't thank you enough for what you do. I truly enjoy all the videos you are making. You are truly talented and very kind to share your talents with us. Thank you~
Dear Jennifer - I have so, so many patterned papers. I also have quite a few pads from Craft Consortium -- like the ones you show. Kristina did a video featuring that brand a while back. "Faux" might be another vocab option...... instead of "fake." "Fake" did not bother me in the slightest and it was perfectly understood. I LOVE the idea of the sanding block. Every time I get a mani (which is not all that often, but sometimes) I get one of those to take home and I could be using them in my craft room. Thanks!! You are the queen of great ideas and super-informative and gently instructive videos. They are SO appreciated!!! Lori S in PA
I’m so glad you’re showing these gorgeous papers. I have two whole cubbies filled with these in rainbow order. I splash gold, silver, rose gold metallic acrylic paint splatters on them, providing a tad bit of texture, and other times use focal stamps with Versamark and clear embossing powder. Thx for showing many more options!
Thank you Jennifer! I love the look of alcohol inks but didn’t know if the big investment would be worth it. This is a great time AND money saver!! And your cards, as always, are stunning!
Funny that this video came up the day I play with pattern paper. I also have spme craft consortium in my stash. Thank you for dragging pattern paper out of the "naughty corner". For a lot of crafters it feels like being lazy, cheating, not being creative enough etc. It's silly, but there's a lot of guilt involved using those papers. One of my favourite pattern papers by the way: denim style and all kinds with a textile look. I sometimes run them through an embossing folder with a scene (flowers for example) and then color the 3D parts using Lindy's magicals. Neutral pattern papers are so great for that!
Wow! Sorry someone has said that already but these ideas are truly brilliant. I have a drawer full of 6x6 patterned papers which I’ve had for years and you have given me great inspiration. Jennifer you never fail to amaze us 😘🥰❤️
Amazing cards Jennifer. I have so much patterned paper. I appreciate so much the many ideas you’ve shared here. I especially love the stenciling over the patterned paper. Never thought to try that. Thank you!!
This is my new favorite of your videos Jennifer! I don’t like to take lots of steps to make each card, and have not wanted to invest in alcohol inks, so I already had one of these Crafter’s Companion 12x12 pads for my cardmaking. It is very fun to see you confirm that discovery and to hear your tips of using black, white, gold or silver with patterned papers. This video helps me feel a lot better about the direction my cardmaking has gone! Thank you!
Rarely am I tempted to buy it all, this is just one of those videos! Those papers!! 😍 Also I have become a huge fan of Honey Bee. IMO they are reasonably priced and really put out quality products. I've been very happy with the items I have bought from them. Thanks girl.
Thank you so much Jennifer for these inspiring card examples. I have a lot of printed papers in my stash and now I'm inspired to try something new with them. Yay!
Thank you. I am very new to cardmaking and haven't made a card yet. I have been practicing with inks, blending, etc. and I need a lot more practice. I can make my first card with the print papers I have thanks to your video. I have watched several of your videos and they have been very helpful. Thanks again.
I bought the Altenew alcohol 12x12 pad a couple of years ago. I used a panel as the front panel on the card and embossed a wonderful Easter sentiment on vellum on the top. Then, I chose the same color pattern in an additional piece and made the matching envelope. Most of these were hand delivered to my church staff.
All of these cards are gorgeous Jennifer! Great work! Thanks for sharing all these wonderful tips, tricks and ideas! I'm definitely trying (most) of them. 😜🩷
I have a ton of these papers already! Thank you for giving me "permission" to use them. I was starting to feel like it was cheating to not make my own inky backgrounds.
Hi. I know what you mean, I have a lot of papers of various weight that are very similar to those and it's good to know that it's not a total cop out!😂
Im a professional artist and lemme tell you - only the end product matters, not how you got there! Especially in things like card making, where things dont need to be lightfast and acid free. Use what ever you like, as long as you love how it looks. Theres no such thing as cheating! Theres always people who will say its gotta be done this way, but I take it as a suggestion, not as rigid rule. Free yourself. Sometimes it even ends in wonderful discoveries, I accidentally figured out new way of coloring with oil pastels, when I started to think outside the box. Be brave, experiment. And most of all, have fun :)
I just recently used some cloud design paper rather than using inks and it worked perfectly. It’s weird how it feels like cheating but so much quicker and you get to spend time on the rest of the design.
These cards are absolutely gorgeous. I love these "READY-MADE" alcohol ink backgrounds. So convenient. You've inspired me (as always) to try your ideas.
Thank you Jennifer for your fabulous video and for the inspiration that came along with it. So grateful that you are in my world. Stay save and well. 🇨🇦
Great idea! It is pretty easy to make alcohol ink and wc backgrounds. (Tim Holtz does a lot of that.) But these ready-made paper backgrounds are a no mess and quick way to get the look without any mess. Besides paper crafting, I'm primarily a fine artist too.... mostly watercolor & mixed media. I keep all the color tryouts, extra swatches, and experimenting papers to use for die cutting or art journaling and the like. They make really one of a kind paper patterns and backgrounds 😊
I use the faux blend, alcohol or watercolour papers all the time, especially when churning out big batches such as the 100 Valentine's I made for an aged care facility.
Amazing video. Really enjoy how you will use the dies and only cut part of it in order to give additional dimension. I've got so many uses now for papers. I just was unsure how to make them stand as a lovely bit rather than an overwhelming one.
I have several Consortium paper pads because they are so beautiful. I will look at others you showed today. Thank you for so many wonderful ideas on using these beautiful papers and now I will use them and not just have them and admire how pretty they are 😊
Jennifer, you are a fountain of information! I'm always blown away with your creativity and how you make cards soooo beautiful! You make cardmaking look soooo easy:) Thank you for all your tips!!
The dogwood card is to die for gorgeous. And I've been taking apart Christmas cards for some of the wonderful parts for many years, too. Fun additions sometimes.
Love your video and countless tips and techniques. I just got some craft consortium alcohol ink paper so glad to see it mentioned in your video. Beautiful cards.
I have the Craft Consortium "Earth" pad that I fell in love with. It has a variety of softer colors. I have made a couple of cards and you have given me some more ideas. Here's an idea I came up with I used a gold mat and cut cattails and a dragonfly wings from the same piece. Cut the body of the dragonfly from black that I used a glitter pen on it and added some of the glitter to pen to the inky background paper sparingly.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful work. It's nice to know that it really is ok to use papers in this way from someone with so much creativity and experience so that I don't feel like I'm just being completely lazy!😂 Your finished cards look amazing and I will definitely be using some of these tips ant tricks, too. Thanks again and have a lovely day.
Just wanted to let you know I have discovered another way to “fake it” is by using greeting cards given to me over the years. I deconstruct the cards and use backgrounds, words and pieces in my cards for a quick send off for birthdays, anniversaries…you name it! It’s a GREAT way to recycle as well.❤
My friends give me their old cards all the time for this "technique!"
Hi. I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one doing this. I usually do this with Christmas cards in particular. 😃
Glad to hear I’m not the only person that does this! I’ve been doing this for years especially with Christmas card sentiments!
I do the same thing. Reuse and repurpose ❤
I've done this for years -- I just have to keep straight who gave me a card so I don't give them back one I've cannibalized from theirs!
Jennifer, Jennifer, Jennifer ~ you never cease to amaze us. Whether it's new products, new techniques, or using our supplies differently, you keep our craft moving forward ~ keeping it interesting! Jennifer, those are so beautiful ❤️! Time-saving, easy, using up scraps and using tools in new ways! Wins all around!
Perhaps the word ‘faux’ is what you’re looking for, Jen. Thanks for the videos; I always learn something new. Grateful.
OMG! Great suggestions and cards created. Thank you 🎉❤
Oh wow!
Wow wow wow.
I absolutely love all of these cards. The one with the layered bird is my favorite but wow. They are all beautiful.

Hi. I know what you mean, I have a lot of papers of various weight that are very similar to those and it's good to know that it's not a total cop out!😂
There are no craft police!
Me too! Didn't feel OK about doing it!
