An electronic saxophone?? | Aerophone AE-20 unboxing/review

- Roland recently sent me their newest Aerophone AE-20 to check out so here is my review!
This thing is so sick. The Aerophone has to be the easiest out-of-the-box wind synth to play. You just turn it on and start playing. No sensors and rollers that you have to get used to, tons of great sounds already on board, and endless amounts of customization. I really was blown away by how comfortable and easy it is to play.
I forgot to talk about price in the video so here's a little bit about that. Brand new they retail for $999 and I think it's worth every penny. Most people that play EWIs will pay $700+ for a used EWI 4000 which is considered the "holy grail" but though they're no longer made. I think it makes way more sense to spend $200 more and get a brand new instrument with way better ergonomics that you can load the same sounds and more onto. There are a few other Aerophone models ranging from $300-$1600 that could also be worth checking out. Although I haven't personally played them so I can't speak on how they compare.
Anyways, let me know what videos you want me to make with the Aerophone! I have a few ideas (Aerophone only covers, playing the Aerophone on Omegle etc) but I'd love to hear what you guys think. Thanks for watching!

Woah, I didn't know, that this sounds so good! :0
Even the Pitch-Bends sounds so realistic, haha
I know right it’s basically just like a synth keyboard but with saxophone fingerings!
Yeah, it's the delight and giggles that sell this for me. I've ordered one, but I'm not sure how long it's going to take to arrive.
LOL I could hardly contain myself!! I hope it comes soon and that you enjoy it!
Awesome vid! I should pick my sax up again cuz it's been a few months 😬
Thank you!! And you should if you miss it!
Nice video! I’ve tried the Aerophones before, and wasn’t a big fan of them. I have an EWI 4000s with the Patchman Music soundbank and it’s the perfect wind synth!
Ahh yeah I tried the EWI 4000s and thought it was hard to play compared to the Aerophone, but everyone has a different preference! I still need to download the patchman music sound bank onto the Aerophone!
Matt Traum a.k.a. Patchman of Patchman Music was heavily involved in the design of the AE-30 and AE-20. Probably a very good number of the scenes/patches are his work. He has several sound packs available through Roland Cloud. Please note that most of the sound packs and instruments available on Roland Cloud will not be very wind controller friendly. Some work will be required to make them respond to breath control in a useful way.
I think it's interesting that you say people treat EWI like a new instrument entirely and that you couldn't quite get a scale out when you played one. I bought an EWI recently and all my sax skills transferred over, although with some minor hiccups becayse touch sensitivity is certainly something else. Can't comment on the Aerophone though, I don't have one (one day I will I swear). In any case it's interesting how different people have different experiences.
Welcome to the aerophone family 😎😎😎
Thanks :)
Very good video ^_^
Thanks:)
You should try and see if your able to get a ewi solo, I hear they are really good
I’ve played ewi’s before and this thing is way easier imo
Niceeeee, hyped to see this in your next omegle video😉
Thank you and it’s going to be a banger get ready👀👀
Im thinking to get One aerophone witch One you recomend the mini, the 10, or the 20 and what are the diference between them
I only have experience with the 20 sorry!
I need one of those… but not for 1,600$ 💀
This one is under $1,000 and they also make ones that start at $300!
The Aerophone Pro (AE-30) is $1,600 USD while the AE-20 is around $1,000 USD. The other Aerophone models are older and not based on the current AE-30 and AE-20 design.
Oh wow, thats interesting! If they make cheaper ones, it would be a decent way to get into saxophone without playing the big bucks!
They actually have a bunch of other models that range anywhere from $300-$1600! Definitely worth checking out!
@@FoolishFrankie Oh wow!
I can't wait until the day you come out with some omegle videos using that instrument I like to see peoples reaction to the music
Oh get ready cause one is coming👀👀
I would like listen ae20 on amplifier. Thanks
I’m not sure I understand your question
@@FoolishFrankie I think you recorded the sounds from the internal speakers (?). The reaction is asking to play through the output into an amp to be able to really judge the quality of the tones.
@@45zapatero I played both with the external onboard speakers, and with it internally (going directly into GarageBand). An amp will sound close to the internal sound, although probably not quite as good depending on your headphones lol
Wow
👀
The clicking would drive me crazy
I actually like it for some reason😂🙈 But I know some people don’t, so it’s all personal preference!
A real saxophone clicks too.
Playing eddie barbash on the aerophone. Only you
LMAO😂😂
Here from tiktok!
Ayy thanks so much for coming to check out the video!
$1600.00 I will pass...🤔😣
You must've been looking at the AE-30. That is their most expensive model. This is the AE-20 which is just under $1,000. BUT they also make models as cheap as $300! They all do different things depending on your needs:)
@@FoolishFrankie I'm a flute player. Do you think it would transition well for a flutist?🤔
@@manuelgonzales6483 I’m not sure about the other models but I know on this model you can change the fingerings to be flute fingerings! I think some of the other models do that too, I just don’t know for sure since I don’t own them!
@@FoolishFrankie Awesome. Your reaction with all that laughter kinda sold me. Looks like you were pleasantly surprised at all the functionality you kept discovering. I will add this one to my interested in buying list. Thanks
@@manuelgonzales6483 I definitely was!! I was just playing it tonight and I’m still discovering stuff it can do! Thanks so much for watching:)
its not spit
It’s a combination of spit and condensation
@@FoolishFrankie its not spit
@@FergusJohnston yes it is, you have never played a wind instrument obviously
@@FoolishFrankie I don't know what way you play your wind instrument, but I've been playing for 50 years, and I don't get spit in mine.
Sounds like a toy, wise up!
