Otherwise no magic or superpowers or walking tropes harem.
In all honesty, I enjoy the show more than I should. This is probably due to the fact that I enjoy edgy shit like this. I'd say my biggest issue is the lack of consequences and just how quickly Subaru gets over the trauma he experiences. This is one of the reasons that I would like a season 2. There are lasting consequences, explanation for the reset abilities and even goes as far as to tell Subaru that when he dies, the other timelines still go on, as well as other characters catching on to Subaru's powers. This isn't perfect, but it at least does more than other shit I've read/watched, which is kinda sad that I've got to praise a story for being semi-competent. These don't fix the issues that the show had, unfortunately, hence why I want there to be a second season. (Even if some of the later twists are a bit dumb). I am a filthy pleb confirmed.

"Still in the introduction" I mean... It's not fan-fiction when people are saying that. There are 11 planned arcs. The author himself even calls the first 18 episodes "the prologue" So... I mean, yeah. It really is pretty much just the introduction to the story. A season two would solve all of your problems on the "this isn't explained and this isn't either" front at least. Also, first episode of a season two is going to take away the "no consequences" thing. EDIT: Feelsbad I watched the very end. That guy makes us Re:ZERO fans look like retards. Forgive him please.

ThatAnimeSnob, this is a very enlightening video. While I don't know about your criticism about Subaru never learning anything, since I'm not sure if I've watched an anime where the protagonist learns anything, the rest of your criticisms are very fair and I have believed them unconsciously. However, to say that this show is completely devoid of meaning is a lie: A large part of this show is dedicated to exploring and comparing the relationship between Subaru and Emilia, Subaru and Rem, and Betelgeuse and the Witch. Betelgeuse is blinded by his unreciprocated love for the witch, and that makes him a bad guy when he commits evil acts for this shitty love. But Subaru does this as well, for Emilia, if you think about it? He even does things that Emilia doesn't want him to do, such as visit the coronation ceremony. For him, disobeying means serving her. Is it? How should a servant protect a master? Creatively, in his/her own way?? By mobilizing entire armies and signing an unfair treaty for Roswaal's kingdom?? And then Rem shows up and leaves Subaru in the tavern, if you remember, acting against his wishes. She dies, and Subaru has to restart. So how should one navigate these imbalanced relationships??? While Re:Zero provides few meaningful answers, it does provide the meaningful questions, and I think you can appreciate them. Thank you and have a nice day.
