Rami Malek perfected Freddie Mercury's body movements and body language, on and off stage, every quirk and such; better than the accent of Mercury's, in my opinion. Though both were good, the way Malek moved was hauntingly mirrored to those of Mercury. Like Christian Bale looked so different I had to really look to see it was him, I think your channel should also do a Tōpppppplloo10 actors who studied and copied the movements of someone for a movie like these as well.. those being movies based on real people/events. I think.. ..was the best in this list if I could pick one, mainly due to the work he'd put into studying the man he was to portray. Like the work he did said to me that he acts and works on his acting like a regular job, y'know?
Austin Butler certainly had a tall order when portraying Elvis Presley, given how there's hundreds upon hundreds of Elvis impersonators and is hit or miss on how "good" they are in capturing the former king of rock and roll. But just like Jamie Foxx and Rami Malek, Austin certainly captured the true essence of Elvis Presley and should be proud of his performance.
Honestly, as someone who was born in and lived in Memphis and grow up near there my entire life, I was skeptical at first. I thought he'd use a stereotypical type of accent, but I was impressed.
WHOO!!! Justice for Austin Butler as the legendary Elvis Presley! His performance through the whole movie is spectacular fashion. I hope it’ll give him a star on the walk of fame. It’s that good
Gwilym Lee was perfect as Brian May (body language, posture, facial expression, etc) ! He had the voice down so perfectly, he even fooled Brian's kids!
The fact that Austin Butler ranks above Jamie Foxx AND Phillip Seymour Hoffman who gave two of the greatest Oscar winning performances ever is just further proof that Austin Butler will/should get the Oscar 🙌🏼
What is more, in Sophie's Choice, she even nailed speaking German with a Polish accent, although she speaks neither language. So when people started complaining because allegedly she would not be able to nail Maggie Thatcher's British accent, I knew she would be able to do this one.
Kate Winslet's Polish accent as [then] Apple executive Joanna Hoffman in "Steve Jobs" was outstanding. Maintaining the consistency of that accent with the punishing amount of [brilliant] dialog in an Aaron Sorkin script is nothing short of remarkable.
They asked the question if there was anyone Kate Winslet couldn't mimic convincingly, and the first thought that popped into my head was James Earl Jones and Morgan Freeman. I seriously doubt she could copy their voices. I think she could learn easily enough to nail their mannerisms, but their sheer size and their voices would be beyond her reach. The great Ms Streep couldn't do it either. I don't, by the same token, see Denzel or Tom Hanks being able to carry off Maria Callas either. There are limits. But you give her any woman of note and I could accept the possibility that Ms Winslet could pull it off. I think she could have even managed a convincing Diana Ross, had she wanted to. I was quite happy with the performance we did get in that biopic from the woman they chose, but I do think they were correct about Kate that far, that she COULD have done it.
@@jacquelinekurceba250 Did you see the Fifth Element? That woman had a range that would touch on bass at least. And there are other classically trained singers that might give it a go as well. See, if that kid from Sister Act 2 can pull off THAT falsetto, then a woman could, if she works at it learn to sing that deeply. And there are women with naturally deep voices. Ask any choir director. Seems anyone that has ever sung would know that.
Sissy Spesec did Loretta Lynn perfectly in Coalminer's Daughter!!!! She definitely should have been on this list. She even did her own singing. Same w Joaquin Phoenix & Reese Witherspoon in Walk the Line!!
And while Haley Bennett didn't surprise me doing her own singing, Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore did their own singing as well in Music And Lyrics. And that was Jennifer Lawrence doing her own singing whenever her character sang a song, like she did for her sister, for Rue and for the 13 film crew at the quarry. The last three surprised me. Drew thinks she has the world's worst singing voice, Hugh said he needed "whipped up into shape" and Jennifer hates singing because she gets scared she will screw it up. All three could earn extra money as a singer. Not enough to support a family, but enough to supplement whatever else they were doing. Haley was a pro singer before she did that movie. That was her first film.
Beverly D'Angelo was just as perfect as Patsy Cline if you are going there. And all she had to work with was recordings of interviews and the memories of people who knew her. Loretto, at least, was still alive at the time the movie was filmed.
I can’t say enough great things about Austin Butler! He is a unbelievable actor. He became Elvis totally. He talked like him, looked like him, walked like him. Austin is so humble and kind. I adore him. He seems so kind and intelligent. He speaks so easy. He will win the academy award I believe !!!
I'm so glad you show the amount of work actors put into getting their roles right because every time somebody says acting is easy, I just want to scream.
Austin Butler did a fantastic job as Elvis ❤. He deserves an Oscar for this performance. The fact that Lisa Marie and Priscilla have praised this performance says everything. Austin truly became Elvis
You missed... Denzel Washington as Malcolm X Salma Hayek as Frida Kahlo Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana Jessica Chastain as Tammy Faye Taron Egerton as Elton John Renée Zellweger as Judy Garland Joaquin Phoenix & Reece Witherspoon as Johnny Cash & June Carter Cash respectively
Johnny Depp as J.M. Barrie in Finding Neverland absolutely should have been on here. Scottish accents are difficult enough, but even locals couldn't tell that his accent was fake. Amazing.
@@valeades3493 absolutely!!!!! The only one who didn’t win an Oscar on my list for their betrayal is Taron. How in the world are they not mentioned 🤦🏼♀️
And Daniel Bruhl doesn’t get a mention at all on his role as Niki Lauda in Rush? Seriously the guy spent time with the real Niki to get the voice down and everything. And he did it so well! Don’t really know if Chris Hemsworth got his exactly perfect for his role as James Hunt but they both did extremely well in their portrayals
Same here. I'm glad they added him to the list. That movie was amazing. Initially watched it for James but ended up loving the entire cast for their amazing performance~
Forest Whitaker as Edi-Amin scared the crap outta me. He lost himself so deep in the role that I forgot he was an American. The Last King of Scotland was an awesome movie.
Yes, Rami did a great Freddie, but Gwilym Lee should have gotten the spot in place of Rami instead of just a shout out. His portrayal of Brian was so accurate that Brian's own kids thought their father dubbed the audio because of how much it sounded like Dr. May
James Corden's portrayal as 2007 winner of Britain's Got Talent and Operatic Singer, Paul Potts, was pretty good. I'm surprised he wasn't mentioned in honorable mentions.
You could have at least mentioned Tom Hiddleston as Hank Williams (I Saw the Light). Unless you're preparing a Part Two for this list, because there are others worth mentioning.
Helen Mirren as QUeen Elizabeth in THE QUEEN, as well as Claire Foy, Olivia Colman and now Imelda Staunton as again the Queen in THE CROWN. They might not look exactly like Elizabeth, but they speak exactly like she used to!
Honestly, no disrespect to any of them... most are just amazing acting. Austin Butler as Elvis... his own daughter didn't know if it was her father or Austin singing. Every other actor is fantastic but does not even compare
Winston Churchill had such an upper class, English aristocrat voice, plus the scratchy, whiskey soaked determination to pull in the entire country as he fought the entire third reich from day one, even when he was by himself and reviled by everyone in the beginning...
Philip Seymore Hoffman sounds exacly like the man he's playing but to do the accent seems no more difficult than just mocking someone by repeating their words..😆
This list should have been 20, you missed so many. Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash, Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe, Sandra Bullock in The Blindside.
I read that many of Churchill's radio speeches from Parliament were actually re-recorded by an actor who nailed Churchill's speech, including the slight lisp.
Almost all the entries in this list were Oscar-winning performances. It shows how much effort actors put into taking responsibility. It would be fun to see which actors failed in portraying a famous character.
I haven’t watched Jackie but I did watch a video of Jackie Kennedy and Natalie Portman as Jackie with scenes side by side and it was really accurate. She nailed the accent.
It was a horrible shame that she didn’t receive an Oscar! I’ve watched so many actresses play Jackie Kennedy and her accent and vocal patterns are so difficult to portray while sounding natural and not forced, but Natalie Portman did it perfectly!

i saw elvis today, austin did an amazing job
I have seen Elvis 6 times and will probably see it 6 more times. Austin was fabulous.

How true this was, Austin Butler should have won the Oscar hands down. Shameful Elvis the movie did not win anything.
Ive seen it twice already & i can't wait to see it MORE!!! Austin will deserve a Best Actor Oscar for his incredible performance!!!!
I have seen it 21 times and love Elvis and Austin!
Meryl Streep is a gifted person in so many ways, she is impossible to top...

AUSTIN PORTRAYING ELVIS AMAZINGLY WELL DONE! THE BEST!
Austin Butler is amazing as Elvis .I've just watched it
Daniel Day Lewis as President Abraham Lincoln in Lincoln. Simply amazing.
I have so much respect for people that can do these voices.
Emma Corrin perfectly mimicked the real Princess Diana's voice to a tee, and apparently repeatedly said "Alright" to spurn on the accent.
Number 3 ?? Austin whooped ass..
He embodied Elvis more than any of the rest of them..
Austin is number One in my eyes 😂
