If Ken just wants to film 2000s nostalgia vids, I would be down for it
Ken that's not how we pronounce SCART
This actually also release in the Netherlands and Belgium aswell, although quite rare here, they do pop up every now and then.
When they first showed this TV on Austin Evans channel the TV was in the Dutch languages. + You see on 4:06 when he scrolls trough system the Dutch TV sender SBS 6 and RTL
It’s pronounced scart. Not s-cart. And it was the European alternative to component video, not HDMI.
totally threw me hearing SCART (pronounced like cart with an s in front of it) called S - Cart haha
Never heard it described as European HDMI either. We had SCART since at least the early 90s. When I got to NA in 2005 I was so surprised TVs didn’t have SCART. Every TV in Europe had it. It hasn’t been used on TVs for about a decade now though. Still use SCART for RGB signal on my old CRT for retro consoles.
it's not even HD, it's like composite but with more pins and rgb support
Honestly could be a UK thing but I've never heard it be called an S-Cart
@@namesurname4666 it does theoretically support up to 1080i but it wasn't really used much.
@@wertywerrtyson5529 it's european HDMI in a sense that it carries audio and video through a single connector, the rest of the world used RCA jacks which needed multiple connectors (except for japan, they had their own niche connector for component video)
XMB started becoming standard on Sony TVs around 2006.
The music/video streaming stuff started as Bravia Internet Video Link (BIVL) around 2008, that was originally an add-on box for the set before eventually being integrated around 2010. These all ran Linux (and technically still do), from about 2004 to about 2016 give or take a few years; before the transition to AndroidTV.
Imagine a PS5 TV like this today!
What a waste. A whole TV with a built in console to play 4 games? Lol
Hmm I would love to see that, I think a pstv2 that was basically a mini ps3 would do well enough for the production costs. The original pstv I was able to buy when it came out and was dirt cheap at 45$. (the small gaming unit not an actual tv) A ps5 capable one is selling at a loss but a ps3 could have some kitch appeal and actually be worth the price (mainly for hacking)
@@collinsgichuhi8255 Objection! The ps5 can play ps4 and can stream ps3 games so the ps5 does have games actually
@@collinsgichuhi8255 if it has game pass maybe it wont be too bad at least nowadays
@@collinsgichuhi8255this isn’t 2021 no more 🤦🏾
I would love to see a teardown of this TV, to see the PS2 internals and how they got connected to the TV itself internally
Same here, I was really curious about it's connection type to the TV. But my bet is that it's still analogue.
lot of mid to late 2000's and even some early 2010's Sony Bravia tv's used the XMB interface.
i for example have KDL32-W4000 that i used to use my my 32 inch monitor/tv from 2008 to 2017.
it uses XMB menus for it's functions like setup you channels, control your picture settings and inputs.
not the most complex setup, but it was cool to see the same menus from my PS3 and PSP on my tv back in the day.
I never knew this existed, looks like a cool collective device
is not exclusive for UK, is exclusive for europe, In Spain, you could also buy that TV.
Can't sony name their model numbers be simple FOR FIVE MINUTES!?
When you've made upwards 60,000+ products, how pray tell does one do model numbers "simple?" Honestly, Sony's model numbers are pretty logical compared to other companies.
It's like Nintendo Allowing Sharp to make a Famicom TV.
Ken bringing retro tech is pure fire!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love your vids
The thing is so awesome! This totally makes more sense branding this as the PlayStation TV ❤
I actually own one of these 😁 such a cool pickup for me. I picked it up at a recycle centre for a good price. Someone had donated it! Insane, I know.
Even though PSX basically PS2 + DVR, yet most people call PS1 fat as "PSX" to differ it to PsOne.
Need 1 !
Using midnight club 3 dub edition is goat refference
I never thought this existed. Thanks for sharing!
The TV was a different league!
It's not forgotten if every tech channel talk about it every other months
True dat
Never seen this in my life, actually happy he made a video on it so that I can witness this amazing creation !
Hey watch it you young whippersnapper you
🤣
Lmfao fr just like that one display for the ps1
Any stress I had so far today just went away the second I heard that startup sound
Pretty dope. Always great discovering gaming tech that the world as a whole has no idea it even exists. It's definitely a collector's item status now, but if I were to say want to get one to actually use, I'll have to assume being a UK market product, it's a PAL region locked PS2 in that base??
Oh man, Midnight Club 3 Dub edition is my favorite PSP game!
This is pretty cool
I actually got one of them and it's considered one of THE holy grails of my gaming collection by me 😅
We had the regular version of this TV in 2010 from Best Buy Essex store and used to watch the choppy RUclips app all the time. It was brought for the new Sky + HD box and PS3 via HDMI
I LOVE when BIG CHANNELS take ideas from smaller channels or ideas . Retro Ghetto had this on his channel.
EXACTLY bro. Tired of people like linus talking about things AsphaltLicker2004 reviewed 12 years ago.
I was like, awesome! I need this in my game room! Immediately jumped on eBay to see 2 for 3k and 5k oof! Need to start saving now. Appreciate you showcasing this, man! Im an avid gamer/ retro gamer from the 90s and had no clue this existed!!!
I have always wondered why Sony, the company known for video games and televisions, has never merged the two more often. It seems like a no-brainer! You would think a true PlayStation TV would sell really well.
HDMI was a worldwide standard and SCART, all one word not S-CART was analogue and the best way to get RGB video off devices of its age. Also SCART predated HDMI by about 30 years.....
It was American video that was beyond dated and behind the times.
playing midnight club 3 with ken is now added to my bucket list
So I actually learned about this and bought one for myself over a year ago.
I thought it was such a cool concept and even back then there werent a ton of these going around.
I bought it used for around $780 US dollars.
Came with a bundle of pal region games, a third party controller, a generic sony remote control and a memory card with free tuna installed and was in some of the strangest packaging I have ever received from someone though it did get here unharmed.
Since then ive bought the controller it was supposed to come with and have softmodded it to make it read as a ntsc developer console which allows me to play any region ps1 or ps2 game official or otherwise without needing to prep anything.
All in all, this was such an awesome buy and is my favorite tv despite having a modern Bravia for my ps5.
We need a hat collection, bro always has dope hats on
I LOVE MIDNIGHT CLUB 3! 😍😍😍
I've been looking for one of these for a while and the prices are through the roof.
He brought me back with the Spinners comment 😂
Austin checks in on him like I check in on my 14 year old when he is way to into fork knife with his friends.
I've got a PS2 TV, picked up cheap on ebay 12 years ago-ish someone was selling pick up only and I was the only bidder. Love the thing
Thanks for the video this is good to know. I just saw one on ebay a couple of days ago.
Our frys in dallas had 1 of these in store on display way back... you couldnt buy em but you could play it
SOCOM and Midnight Club along with Spy Hunter was the games that I got with the PS2 I got one back in 2003. My favorite SOCOM was 3 and I really liked Midnight Club 2 because I could unlock a LAPD Crown Vic. But 3 Dub Edition Remix was the best of the generation.
The fun fact about SCART. Even though it was mainly a European thing you can still play NTSC games through SCART on a PAL TV with no issues from what I remember since SCART can do both 50/60hz and will display in full speed and color.
Dear Take Two, free idea, merge the concept of Midnight Club into GTA6 as an expansion. Add those kind of story lines, and vehicle customization.
The picture quality of the PS2 on this screen actually looks nice and sharp. Does anyone know how it’s connected internally ? RGB or component ?
PSTV was great! Have mine still and was only 40$ cad.
SCART pronounced "scart", not "s-cart", and the nearest thing to it was component. It was basically the same as component, except you couldn't do progressive scan. It has nothing to do with digital, or HDMI.
Chances are that you could've sourced 1st party remote from Sony still to this day.
PS Vita TV is pretty cool once it's modded, that thing made more sense than a TV with a PS2 in the base. I can't remember it here in the EU.
What happens if you put a freemcboot memory card in it? Like you could open ulaunchelf file explorer an see if there's anything interesting that's on there from factory?
Could have glued any PS2 to the base of any TV.
now I'm a bit curious to see if it's compatible with free mcboot with either MX4SIO or with a raspberry pi.
I always wanted one
We Be Playing Ico With this one🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥
Could you softmod it with that exploit using a specially configured memory card? I take it it has no hdd possibility but it has a network adapter?
Thanks, dude this video was cool!
2:58 sounded so weird to me as in the UK we would call that input a Scart not S-cart!
Wow, that stuff Is GENIAL!
I believe if Midnight Club came back it would get good reception considering there’s a online play mod for Dub Edition out rn. And GTA V is just a Car customization/ racking game now
When I upgraded to a gaming laptop I gave my old ps2 to my cousins years ago and when they got a ps4 they returned the ps2 to me I was shocked when I saw it like seeing my dear old friend
Iv got one of these next to my pc so i can watch dvds or play rumble racing whenever i want 😂
God how I remember the days of straightening my SCART pins. Horrendous!
I miss this era..
This thing is AMAZING to say the least. Imagine if free Mcboot could load off of this TV
One of the few types of PS2 where it's patched out. I hear FreeDVDBoot works on it though.
I would've liked if he tested out the RUclips app to see if it actually worked. It most likely wouldn't, but I still would've liked to see an attempt
did u buy this 1 from the netherlands?
I picked up one a few years back, its a cool bit of history but is so redundant, it plays only region 2 PAL DVDs, so some UK DVDs don't work. The panel is so bad too, so much ghosting.
Game product and sony breed ☠️☠️☠️
MIDNIGHT CLUB 3!!!
All sony tvs of that era used the xmb. As well as bluray players
I want one 😫 😩 😭
Here for the tsunoda cap
Ken forgot to take into account inflation, so going by the listing he showed looks to be approximately 2011. The 22" tv is closer to $400 if i did the math / googiling correctly lol.
Does FreeDVDBoot work on this?
put spinner rims on a 4090, for the culture
Almost though he's Jacob Batalon!
I'm so glad sony brought back the Bravia name for their TV'S.
it'd be cool if the ps part in on the back of the tv
I saw this back in the day for a very cheap price at my local mall iirc
It’s my first time hearing about this
Does it have Internal HDD?
You look like Devin Ratray aka. Ronnie Coleman when he played in Little Monsters.
Not forgotten, just expensive. Still expensive.
Omg i want one😊
This goes to show that besides CRTs, Ps2 looks natively good on old Bravias, on LCD technology, not that good on LED technology where it needs adaptors
I was hoping we could get to hang with you and eat some chips and fill our bellies with Sprite and play Guitar Hero for the PS2.
UMM WHERE CAN I GET THAT
That tv probably runs at 110v also, you just need an adapter.
Oh I thought this was going to be the ps TV like the vita cut down Playstation tv
Honey, did you buy a PS2?? I told you not to!... No, baby, I play on the tv.
Jeffrey Tam you can't fool us
you can get these for like 250 euro in the netherlands.
Midnight club Legendary game 💯
Okey so i put a monitor on a ps2 and done. I literally remade this product in 2024.
oh god oh fuck, who gave him another piece of playstation history
willing to bet they only made it s 22 inch screen to market it for a kid's room.
This video was brought to you by raid shadow legends.
sony needs a socom 2 hd remake
if you played midnight cliub 3 you should also know burnout takedown.
