    Thanks for the upload Matt. This lens had me crazy. I took it apart 6 times and it still has issues with the infinity focus. The language I used today did not exactly help at all. So I'll watch it again tomorrow and calmly try again.....

    I also tookl it apart without marking. Seems to be 3 entry point of the threat to go in to. no invinity? Just mark how it sit and try another threat-entry. At the end it worked for me.

    Good video thanks! I'm guessing you've done some watch repair - that's the only other time I've seen screws removed with tweezers.

    Thnx a lot for this video! I My Tessar also has very stiff focus, but I also have two left hands, so I'm in doubt if I should try to fix it or not :)

      Thanks for the comment. Shouldn't be too hard. One of the easier lenses to work on.

      @@zyban99 It wasn't that hard indeed, thanks to this video my Tessar now is quite smooth again!

    I have version of this lens with smooth backplate without screws...how do I get it off?

    Hi Matt, I have a mint little Tessar and the focusing ring is totally loose but I can't get it off as I can't grab it. Do you think it's just came off the thread?

    Interesting. Thanks for making this. Couple points to share: (1) my front lens element came out when the front cover was removed. Yours didn't seem to. (2) You didn't appear to index the female helicoil section, which would throw the Infinity Focus off, wouldn't it? I found my infinity focus needing fine tuning after assembly.
    Great video. Thanks again for sharing this.

      Thank you for your comments. I forgot to turn on the camera for some of the filming so the video is missing the full stripdown of the aperture blades. You are right about indexing the helicoil. I did have a mark on it from a previous stripdown but forgot to mention this. I think the front element was a little stuck so remained.

      I am late to the party, but I am desperately hoping you still answer: How do you finetune the infinity focus? Which part exactly is the female helicoil? I got the general focus to slot in correctly, I think, it completely winds all the way, as close as can be without it falling out at 0,35m, but when I focus on infinity it is just a bit of, with a small fracture in the middle of the viewing window. So if I can fine tune, that would be fixable? How do I do it?

    Hi nice video . I have the same lens and I want to shoot motion picture film. Do you know how to perform a de-click and cine mod
    so that the aperture stays where you set it and the clicks are removed? Do you just remove the balls?

    • @zyban99
      @zyban99  2 года назад

      Hi. Thank you for your comment. I removed the ball bearing to de click but the aperture ring slides around so not the best solution.

    opening the front part and cleaning the helicoid would have been sufficient to loosen the focus unless you need a full service
    .

      You are right. I also took the lens apart to clean the aperture blades but lost that footage so could only include certain parts.

    Hello, I have this lens, but my diaphragm is not working. Do you have a tutorial on disassembling this lens? (CZJ MC 180mm Sonnar)
    thanks for your help

    • @zyban99
      @zyban99  2 года назад

      Hi. I did film the diaphragm repair but lost that part of the recording. It's actually quite easy and intuitive but also very fiddly. Once you have the blades out give them a wash in isopropyl alcohol and use tweezers to pick them up and place them. This guy shows how to do it. It's a great video ruclips.net/video/n5GMEHeDwn8/видео.html

    • @zyban99
      @zyban99  6 месяцев назад

      They have probably not marked where the barrel meets the helicoid. You will have to take it apart and experiment. I would need to see it to understand the issue. Happy to fix if you want to post to me

    Ps. I enjoyed watching the video btw, but I'm unfortunately not good with my hands, I think it's because my patience isn't in it. 😬
