I remember talking to a furry, I asked them about the whole erotic scene and they were just like 'Bro. Do you know how much these suits cost? I'm not trying to get ANY bodily fluids anywhere near this thing'
That's so fucking funny though
ngl amazing answer to those questions that are like “do you screw animals in ur suit”
Yea Murrsuiters baffle me because I don’t get how you could spend THAT much money to have *ahem* fun times in it
I first was exposed to furries in college around 2005-2006. There was a group of students who ran around with parts of their (suits? I don’t want to use the wrong word) but some would just wear tails, and idk what they wore inside. I just heard rumors that they all had orgies together in their suits and that’s honestly all I knew of furries. Interesting to see a new perspective.
fr. my bf is a furry, and I knew before we started dating and he told me the other day "look, idk if you're into furry stuff or not, at least sexually, but when I get a fur suit, I am NOT having sex in that thing. not risking ANYTHING" I just laughed cause I didn't want to do that anyways lmao

Though I’m not a furry myself, I’ve always found the absolute disdain for them weird as hell. Anthro animals are EVERYWHERE! Cereal mascots, Disney characters, children’s book illustrations, this isn’t a new phenomenon. But make them more colorful and create a community around them and n o w it’s weird?
Honestly it looks like fun! Who doesn’t like colorful art and costumes and cute animals?
It also heavily appeals to a lot of marginalized communities, and much of the rhetoric around it generally gives people shit over it on those fronts:
-Geek subculture ("haha nerd")
-Overwhelmingly queer ("haha gay")
-Disproportionately neurodiverse ("haha autism")
@@A_A610 yeah, I hear you. That’s honestly true crux of 99% of cringe culture, it’s all just making fun of stuff marginalized people like. It’s an excuse to make fun of those communities without getting shit for being bigoted, because “I’m not making fun of their identity!” But that’s just a cop out and everybody knows it
I’ve only met furries at conventions, but for me there’s something about them being brought into 3D, being live and walking, that tips into the uncanny valley territory. Other than that, furries are lovely!
It’s like, if it’s a famous character that your dressing up as as a job, it’s fine. But if it’s an oc and it’s just a hobby, it’s bad and sexual.

im not a furry but i am someone who overstimulates easily and i struggle to get through school days without these small, almost invisible hearing-blocks i put in my ears, which for some reason is seen as weird or cringe by *some* neurotypicals at my school. long story short, no matter what we do, neurodivergent people will never be fully accepted as non-cringe while still being comfortable, so do whatever u wanna do! live ya life yk
As long as it doesn’t hurt anyone and as long as it’s not causing any sort of disturbance or breaking any laws
Mood, I'm easily overstimulated by noises so I wear earplugs *everywhere* and for the first year or so there was a lot of "what are those" and "take those out of your ears!!!" etc. It's mostly calmed down now since it's been like 4-5 years of wearing them nearly daily but lord, people can be weird about the smallest things.
I have the kind of autism where it’s really hard for me to feel genuinely shame. When people would get on to me about my stimming or covering my ears, I used to openly mock them for having lives that are so boring that me just doing some hand flapping was so mind blowing.
When I say mock I don’t mean a sneer, I mean I would fully openly laugh hard as hell at them and ask shit like- if they also get excited when they see a slightly different squirrel. Pretty sure it didn’t do a single thing for my reputation, but they stopped trying to openly tease me about it after the 4th time I hard laughed in their face
I too have sensory issues, and i will never understand why whenever neurotypicals notice a soundblocker they just refuse to continue talking, like we were in a coherent conversation for 15 minutes until you saw them, and suddenly I am deaf? what is the issue?

You just defined 4Chan!
It's something that's a lot more common than people admit, especially in us Western countries. When people hate something these days, they tend to obsessively hate it, showing said hatred any time it comes up in any regard. I've never understood why furries get so much hate for dressing up as a character they enjoy and made themselves or paid for yet cosplaying another form of character is seen more as universally acceptable to people. Ain't it just the same thing really at the end of the day, a way to feel more confident and comfortable within yourself. To clarify I ain't a furry but I do like dressing somewhat unique for lack of better terminology.
like genuinely it's so cool
Probably because the workers are there to entertain children and some adults. They also mostly likely don’t want to be there and are just doing it for the cash, while furries do it in their spare time.
Cosplay is cringe though too, and so is being a unique dresser. End of the day, these are all things that make you stick out, but some things make you stick out more than others. Usually when someone sticks out, it's because they lack self-awareness, so to cringe is a natural response - you're feeling bad that they've accidentally done something that some people are going to judge them for doing.
@yurisei6732 To judge someone for being unique or differnt however is how you get racism, fascism, etc. Hate is hate and to get pissed off or judge someone for being thierselve regardless of whether they can help it or not is how we get a society children are scared to grow up in or that put people off bringing kids up in a world full of it. A joke is a joke at the end of the day there is plenty people who don't see it that way however and would rather send people to their grave just for being different. Yes transgender, races, religions etc can all change theirselve technically it doesn't mean they should, just because a dickhead can't get over a new idea. this brings up a good point about neurodivergency and cringe culture, a lot of things people find cringe are literally just neurodivergent traits
Haha, good point, I spent years avoiding getting called cringe by my brother and it left me with no personality.
i get what you're saying, but "neurodivergent traits" don't exist. it really bothers me that people use ND as a synonym for autism/adhd. it literally just means a difference in how a person's brain works. you can make your point more accurately by just saying the specific types of neurodivergence that you mean
@@marnenotmarnie259 I use ND to describe myself because I have ADHD and haven't been able to get assessed for autism due to money and other issues taking precedent. I'm def not alone in that. Also autism has such a massive amount of stigma that it can be a lot more comfortable to just tell people you're neurodivergent.
@@marnenotmarnie259 I believe traits mainly means “behavior” in this case. hyperfixation is something mainly autistic ppl or ppl with adhd do. stimming usually happens with autistic people. it’s a behavior or trait they share. so.. they are real. 😄 nothing bad with nd traits. if people wanna call symptoms or behavior that, let em! at the end of the day, it’s not rlly harmful to the community. and yes, I am ND, so I’m not just talking about something I don’t experience and stuff !
This is such a non-point dude.
I went to a furcon the other day, and I am now working on my own suit. It was so positive and sweet! Everyone there was so cute, and kind, and just complementing each other and telling each other how cool their fursonas were. they're excited and happy to be there.
It's so cute, and sweet and everyone there was absolutely so nice! There was older people encouraging the younger kids, it was all amazing. Not to mention their outfits are so elaborate and cool!
(Not to mention the full suits cost almost as much as cars)
As a furry, the person harassing the dollar tree employee is making me cringe so hard, I would hate to be in the employees position 😭
so much of cringe culture - regardless of what is being cringed at - is just "ew look at this person having fun and being happy"
yeah, that and making fun of little kids for doing silly stuff even though everyone does silly stuff as a kid
yeah exactly its like they think theres a specific way to be happy and being happy in any other way is.. malicious? somehow? lmao its weird
Not really, it's about entertaining thyself with socially inept and bizarre people.
and a lot of times it tends to be stuff that minorities/discriminated groups enjoy- such as nerodivergent people, gay people, teen girls, etc.. I’m so sick of it, let’s make fun of middle aged white ppl things more idk
@@quandaredevil And how do you think kids stop doing silly stuff? By being repeatedly told that it's silly and not socially acceptable. That's why nowadays you see so many people never growing up and continuing to act like a silly kid well into adulthood.

I am so glad that someone made a video about this since most people just assume stuff about furries and hate on them. As a furry I've heard tons of negative things from haters, and a lot of phrases I didn't even know existed, yet most of them hadn't done any research at all. They go out and watch compilations, or they read some random news story and then make a generalization, which the same can be said about lgbtq people as well, especially recently. I just discovered your videos today and I love them so much, keep up the amazing content its like drugs to me
In September i went to a Lil Nas X concert and furries tried to enter the venue in their fursuits, they were turned away by security but after they tweeted at lil nas x, he made sure they could come in and actually apologized for security acting the way they did. It was heartwarming actually!
I saw that! Lil Nas X actually tweeted he wanted to see furries at his concerts and thats what prompted those furries to go :)
that’s really wholesome. Lil Nas X has my respect
Aww
It's kinda a security concern though. So I see why they turned away. And like Kurtis said it's distracting. Imagine going to show and trying to see over 2 furry ears, especially after paying hundreds of dollars for tickets.
How’d they not die of heat exhaustion 😭
Cringe is actually just a facet of empathy. Not always positive empathy, but still empathy.
The worst internet culture sucks 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
@@MatthewMS. yeah apparently, empathy is putting yourself in the other person's place and sympathising, e.g someone broke their leg and you thought 'that must be painful', cringe is seeing someone do something embarrassing and putting yourself in their place you think, 'that must be painful' but you make fun of them after
@@MatthewMS. Aw thanks
never considered negative empathy before. interesting.
wait this actually makes so much sense. cringe really is secondhand embarrassment, and all secondhand embarrassment is is you thinking how uncomfortable and ridiculous it would be to be in that position. cringe culture comes in when people then follow that feeling up with rebuking/mocking the person for making the decision to do what they did, which often comes with a moral condemnation of some sort. the moral condemnation isn't strictly a bad or wrong thing, it's just that the situations in which it's called for vary from person to person because, you know, everyone has different moral codes.
I'm a Autistic Furry and I being a furry really makes me able to communicate with other people like how other people are able to, my autism makes me unable to communicate normally with others but dressing as a animal or cosplaying makes me more confident to speak to People
It bothers me how the worst parts of the fandom are always the loudest. It’s like the fandom has a chance to be good but there are certain people out there that are not letting it happen. Which is why so many younger furries are so introverted is because they’re afraid of being judged and attacked.
i know this isn’t about furries but it is about cringe culture and i just want to say that i’m so happy that you’re not pro-cringe culture bc that was the exact main thing that kept me in the closet (trans) for way too long. the fear of “being cringe” is a real thing and it is so harmful to people, especially those in marginalized groups
Eyyy, trans sib!
But for the rest of your comment...thankfully, I live in a place where it's mostly just old people who don't care much about all that, but it kinda makes me think of the Jellybean drama, where this kid was harassed, threatened, doxxed, all over content that people just...didn't think was funny
Not really offensive or anything, just childish...well, there was also that trend that they accidentally started, and were unable to stop, but people probably wouldn't care if it wasn't for the former...I swear, it's a crazy world
Though...now that I think about it, I remember one of many reasons why I was afraid to come out was because I was worried that people would accuse me of "following internet trends" and not actually having serious gender dysmorphia (couldn't even take any showers at some point, but that's besides the point for now-), so...yeah, internet culture is scary
cringe culture also mainly targets neurodivergent people which sucks
Same here! And even trans people calling other trans ppl “transtrenders” and making cringe comps of ppl “not passing” basically. Those kept me in the closet and hating how I was experiencing transness
@@kebbobebop Is it weird that I feel like calling trans people "transgenders", gay people "gays", and stuff like that almost feels like...the og n word for queer people?
For reference, that's mostly because I realized that the word was and is just Spanish for "black", and the people who used it were...Spanish, so I always saw it as similar in that way-
im not a furry but i am neurodivergent and i rlly appreciate your view on cringe culture. i grew up getting made fun of for my special interests and when i did get the chance to talk abt that stuff, i was just smacked with “what are you, autistic?” and it felt embarrassing, like being autistic would be bad thing. im finally getting comfortable with expressing my interests and being myself and rejecting cringe culture🤗

Shakespeare plays are a disliked subject by many which is sad because they‘re really really fun even on surface level, listening to the poetry and reading the words without delving in incredibly deep is still quite the experience (especially if you go to a theatre. I had the chance to see Richard III in Stratford last Monday and how the last Act was acted and how the ghosts played the part in the crowning of Henry VII will always be burned into my mind it was glorious). Well, I have my books to annotate and a friend who got into Macbeth through GCSE work so I‘ll have them to talk to if they want to listen but if I just want to talk about something randomly like comparisons between Richard II and Hamlet (how they both show off Shakespeare‘s existentialism in full force) and my friend isn‘t abalone (edit: fuck, avaliable) then I will not be able to because nobody really cares about Shakespeare in most of the discord servers I‘m in and I can only describe it as frustrating. 3. People on the internet take it to the extreme and turn it into a circlejerk by spamming obnoxious comments.
4. Then you got underage teenagers jumping on the hate bandwagon because they think being angsty is a sign of maturity.

I was struggling with understanding my sexual orientation and they were very welcoming and kind.
But for a while I stoped associating myself with that fandom COMPLETELY because I had people in my life who would mock me for it. They would make jokes about me being “attracted to” and having “relations with” animals. It was gross.

People who cringe at others for being a furry, fat, emo, gay or something else are embarrassing and honestly just... boring.
