Hi Robertson Family. Nice recessive red. I have one the same color. Tried him twice in 100km. He did good. Next lap for him is 170km. Hopefully he can comeback. Watching from Canberra Au
Nice looking group of imports. I think the hen with the rosey pink colored spot is possibly showing an expression of Dominant Opal. The mirror image placement of the expression on the same secondary is, however, quite peculiar. I'd encourage your partner to carefully observe her offspring to see if she is really a Dominant Opal or maybe a new mutation. If she does not produce any Opal or similar offspring, I'd suggest breeding a son back to her just to see if that spot reoccurs courtesy of some new recessive modifier. I have seen HUNDREDS of Dom. Opals, but have never seen one like this, so this hen may be quite unique. I have a whole loft of blacks and love them, by the way. They are mostly linebred Black Widow down from her matings to Surebet, Aviator and History Maker. I have not had the opportunity to race any yet (next season), but I love them. Hopefully, they have the goods to remain here long term instead of just being a bunch of Black pigeons with impressive looking pedigrees, but I expect at least a few of them to have long term merit.
Thanks for your thoughtful insight regarding that bird! Very interesting. We will see in a few weeks if it is an actual genetic spot or just an artifact of a stressful event during her molt last year.
@RFRP It could indeed be a fret mark, but the area affected (spread area of the individual feather) is very typical of a Dominant Opal. Generally, Dom. Opal lightens or washes out ALL of the spread or black areas on a typical Blue Bar or Checker. That tends to create rosey or white bars/checks, terminal bars and tips of secondaries and primaries, so only one feather with this effect is definitely unusual, especially since it's a mirror image on both wings.
Vaccinating the birds is always good practice even if they had been vaccinated for pmv and paratyphoid previously. I give booster shots once a year for pmv and every 6 months for paratyphoid. Just be sure to use the correct dose (0.25 ml) and they’ll be fine. 👍🏼
Hey Mr Robertson I found a Pigeon Book that’s literally worth it’s weight in Gold ✨ I wanted to show it to you but unfortunately RUclips won’t allow me to post any links on this Channel.
@@RFRP Oh my, I thought it was shorter...😱 So now these lovely birds need a lot of time to accomodate to the new home and new friends. I'm sure they'll be happy with you🥰
Oh nice! What breed is yours? Racing pigeon? Yeah, this one is a racing pigeon with outstanding performance background. Though I see what you mean that it’s head doesn’t look like the typical racing pigeon head.
@@RFRP yes exactly the head and the nose don't look like the typical racing pigeon's characteristics, smaller body as well. I don't know what kinda breed my racing pigeon is, i bought it in the market without ring. what breed is yours?

Oh that is very kind of you to offer! 🙂 I currently do not have room in my loft for any more birds--in fact I need to get rid of some! 😅 Thanks again for thinking of me! Where are you located?
Good point. But Good pigeons are good pigeons-maybe they don’t need to be a family. Look at Aztec Loft for example. He has just about every major bloodline there is represented in his lofts. I welcome your thoughts on this. 😊
Morning Dr James. Just wondering about your Poland 🇵🇱 connection. You seem to be bringing in a decent number of birds from there and just wondering why? Just wondering if there’s a story behind it an maybe you can do a video on it for all your fans explaining it. Cheers. HAGD. Happy 4 of July 🎉 🇺🇸. Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦!!!
Always great to hear from you Lou!! My partner, Pino Loft, has brought in these imports from Poland. I will keep a few pairs here to breed from and the rest will be breeding elsewhere. I will give a better explanation in one of my next videos 😊 Thank you my friend!!
