Just checked with Sundolphin and as of 3/19 they have reduced the max HP to 10 hp and weight capacity from 600 to 532lbs. According to the rep it was to satisfy the Coast Guard.
The boat is too wide to fit between a pickup truck’s bed rails. Plus the boat is very heavy for its size when compared to a aluminum jon boat. I wouldn’t recommend it
Is there two guys in it wen u do the second run with the bigger carb? Also won't it tear up the engine running more rpms than it's supposed to with that bigger carb?
Mr. Skeptical yes 2 people were in it for the last run. And no it doesn’t hurt anything, that year 9.9hp evinrude is just a detuned 15hp. All the parts are the same except the carb and exhaust tube.
yuskyul how fast does the mercury 9.9 run? And is it 4 stroke or 2? Do you have the 55lb troller mounted on the standard mount or the optional foot control mount?
haven't got it out yet just put the Merc on the trolling motor is standard I saw no need for foot mount considering the size of the boat and space. and it is a Traxxis it has a handle that can tilt up so I can stand and steer
yuskyul let me know how the 55lb does on the standard front mount. My 34lb thrust puts a lot of flex on that mount so I don't run it at full speed. It sucks sun dolphin didn't reinforce the front mount like they did the back one. The optional foot control mount bolts to the deck so I'd imagine it would distribute the stress of high thrust trollers better. Thank you for the reply, your going to love the boat
what trolling motor do you have on yours, if you do. The issue with having a foot control is finding one with a bow mount. The only one I have found is a motor guide and it doesnt have great reviews. Thanks
swamprat191919 I got the boat for a 1000 bucks and it came with a 5hp outboard. I sold the 5hp for 600, so I'm only in the boat for 400. I only bought the boat because of the deal I got on it. When I first got it my plans were to sell the motor and boat separate and get a nice dual purpose duck/bass boat. Honestly I didn't expect to like the pro 120 as much as I do. It's a mini bass boat, it comes ready to fish, from the casting decks to the livewell everything on the boat was well thought out and placed for fishing. Me(190lbs) and my buddy (225lbs) can stand on the same side and it feels as steady as a mountain goat. I've fished on plenty of Jon boats and non could do that. I get complements on the boat all the time by others fishing. I now plan on keeping the pro 120 and getting a dedicated waterfowl boat. My only concerns are that the bottom gets marked up easy since it's plastic and I have to keep the boat covered when not used for fear of sun cracking the plastic.
I think with a 170lb adult and a 15hp outboard, some fuel plus the weight of said outboard, boat, adult and fuel would yield a pretty high top speed potentially in the 30s
I could watch a whole video of nothing but boats planing. It's so satisfying watching that tilt.

It runs like a slug with a 9.9, especially with two people. A 15 looks like it makes better sense.
how was stability?
So just by installing a 15 hp carb. on a 9.9 makes it a 15? I thought u had to bore it out or something. Would just running a 15 hp be any faster?
The internal of 9.9 and 15 are the same. Supposedly you have to change carb axe nd exhaust. Other than that both are same motors
I’m waiting to test out a 25hp 2stroke on mine now
Will it fit in the bed of a extended cab f 150 you think ? Bot talking about a four door I'm talking bout a extended cab

Question: Is your motor a 15'' short shaft, or 20'' long?
TL Emig 15” shaft (short shaft)

That looks a lot like Lake Prince, would I be correct.
changing just the carbs is good but also changing the header will make your 9.9 a true 15 hp
Great video I finally got mine set just put a new mercury 9.9 on back and minn kota 55lb on the front

4 stroke
no such thing pretty much in 2 stroke all new are 4

Wat hp?
do you think the front has enough room for a foot control trolling motor?
GABassinTV yes the decks are small but to me there is plenty of room for a foot control troller
Kitchen thanks also how easy is it to take the seats out
GABassinTV seats and seat poles are easily removed just pull up hard enough to release the plastic detent.
Are those 2 strokes?

Is that St Marys Ga?
Clifford Barnes no, it’s Virginia
how do you like the boat now and would you buy it now if you could do it over

2 stroke motors?
ryan woods the 9.9/15hp evinrude in the video is a 2 stroke. I have also ran the boat with a 5hp Nissan 4 stroke, specs are in the description
I think with a 170lb adult and a 15hp outboard, some fuel plus the weight of said outboard, boat, adult and fuel would yield a pretty high top speed potentially in the 30s
Anyone wanting to sell there sun dolphin pro?
I wish this video was done with 4 stroke 😢
My pelican predator 10'3 takes a 15hp evinrude 22 mph with just myself in the boat.
J S My 10'3" Pelican Predator, goes 18 mph with me (209lbs) and a 7.5 Sears gamefisher.....that thing will scoot!
@@joesix5609 that sounds way more efficient nice!
I bet my 15hp 2 stroke mercury would fly on there 24mph
That's plenty fast
Turn the camera horizontally for the love of god.
Holy shut that thing hauls ass
